4. She Professed Herself, Pupil Of The Wise Man
Do you know how boys, just for the kick of it, choose a female character in a game? A gender bender is a genre where a person of particular gender dresses up as another gender. But our MC here was reborn as another gender. Yeah, so that happened.

5. A Herbivorous Dragon Of 5,000 years Gets Unfairly Villainized
I remember the anger I felt when Toothless got blamed for killing Stoick under hypnotism. And then dragons were looked upon like creatures with no control over their urges to hunt. Sure, even Hiccup’s anger didn’t last long, but the plot needed to go on.
Now, at least Toothless was powerful enough to kill someone. But here, in A Herbivorous Dragon Of 5,000 years Gets Unfairly Villainzed, that’s not the case. Our MC Reiko is on a mission to help save her village from the demon king by being a sacrifice to a dragon.
Except, this dragon has a vegetarian diet. And no real powers. Now all Reiko and her dragon can do is create a facade of Reiko being the dragon’s disciple and using borrowed powers.

7. The Rising Of The Shield Hero
Betrayals in any medium of story hurt- in movies, novels, songs, etc. But betrayals in anime are top-notch tearjerkers. The Rising Of The Shield Hero tells the story of Iwatani Naofumi, an otaku who gets sucked into a book that transports him into another world. However, all he has in this world is a shield to protect him. But protect him from betrayal; it does not.
Now, Iwatani has nothing, no money, no respect, and no party to be a part of. All he has is himself to rely upon as he embarks on a journey to avenge himself against the very party that had once been an ally.

8. Isekai Quartet
One of the cutest things anime has ever given us is the chibi drawing style, and now there is a whole show designed in it. Isekai itself is an interesting genre, where a character from our world is transported into a fictional world setting. But what happens when a few of these fictional worlds crash into each other?
Isekai Quartet series follows 4 different protagonists from different isekai series- Overlord, Re: Zero, Konosuba, and The Saga of Tanya The Evil. And not only have the MCs collided together in this place, but they have to also attend a school of this world. Needless to say, chaos ensues!

10. Ixion Saga Dt
An entertaining watch that is a parody of some of the commonly used genres like RPG and a cool male lead who saves the damsel in distress. Though the world setting of Ixion Saga Dt is similar to that of an RPG genre, a person playing a game and being transported to that game world, this anime stands out in the way it does not make its main character the most sensible one. A character with flaws and not built for perfection, Kon is stuck in a game trying to help a girl.
The fantasy comedy series does a good job of keeping the viewer engaged despite the genre now reaching a stagnant point. Ixion Saga Dt might not be what you expected, but it is what you need to watch to get out of the loop of ‘know-it-all heroes in an Isekai.’ It’s not much of an original, but it is indeed a fun light watch.

28. Konosuba: God’s Blessing On This Wonderful World!
Add this anime to the growing list of MMORPG genres adapted from a light novel. Konosuba: God’s Blessing On This Wonderful World seems like an apt title considering God did bless Kazuma Sato with a second chance at life after he died and sent him to a fantasy world.
When everything seems to go fine, Kazuma Sato dies an embarrassing death. He was unemployed and a shut-in, so another life in an adventure-filled world seems heaven, especially with a cute girl on the side. Aqua, a goddess, accompanies Kazuma but does not prove to be much help. Recruiting more people seems to go downhill when the new folks are not that much of an asset.
The mission to kill the Demon King never launches officially with a bunch of misfits- a recluse born-again teenager, an absent-minded princess, a pyromaniac, and a masochist, forming a party and settling into a comfortable life. That is until the party keeps encountering the Devil King’s generals regularly.

35. The Irregular At Magic High School
This anime is taken from a light novel by Tsutomu Sato. The beautiful animation in this action-packed sci-fi, fantasy, and supernatural drama is well done. A pair of siblings, Tatsuya Shiba (older brother) and Miyuki Shiba (younger sister) are admitted to a Magic High school where students are taught to handle magic through modern technology.
But there’s a catch. People with such abilities are only born within the families, i.e., through genetics. This is why there is a shortage of magic users, and Japan, in this alternate history, has 10 families in power who can create such children.
Miyuki is the heir to the Yotsuba Clan. Tatsuya, acting as Miyuki’s guard, has to protect her from any harm and diffuse any plans to assassinate her. Now, this pair of siblings have to compete with children of other clans in their school competitions and keep their clan’s pride intact.

39. Engage Kiss
Engage Kiss is surrounding our MC, Shu, who runs a small company to handle demons called “D Hazards.” But Shu is not all that tight about money, despite his ways of only choosing a few selective cases of demon demolition and not getting paid much.
That is because Shu gets taken care of by Kisara, a high school girl. She provides him with not only professional support but also in his personal life. Ayano enters Shu’s life, and this serves as fuel to jealousy for Kisara, who is in love with Shu.
Things up to this point seem like any other romance anime plot. As the case is, Kisara isn’t just any high school student but a demon in disguise who helps Shu for a price. The price is- a kiss.

44. Recovery of an MMO Junkie
Another NEET- not in education, employment, or training, who loves to play MMORPG. Morioko Moriko is a 30-year-old single woman who has lost touch with her own world and is now immersed in an online world and could be called an MMO Junkie.
She is a man called Hayashi, and unlike our previous heroes, who at least somehow manage to win against monsters and enemies (even if it’s by sheer luck), Hayashi has no such luck. After getting killed time and again, he gets his break when ‘Lily’ helps him.
With things taking a turn in the online world, something also happens in the real world, where Moriko meets Sakurai Yuta, and now both of her worlds have been influenced by each other. Romance blooms in this anime, where two people kind- of gender bend online, which shows how RPG gamers feel while handling social interactions outside and within the game.
