Known as one of the highest-rated dramas in Korean cable television history, Our Blues has managed to grab the attention of fans across various genres quickly. Appreciated for the simplistic story and lives it represents, it has received tons of love from most viewers. This drama discusses the lives of people of various ages- from kids, and young adults, to middle-aged and even the elderly, that live on Jeju Island. These different characters seem to be connected in some or the other way. The stories depicted are quite simplistic, and so are the people.
We watch all the people do their daily work without much drama and how they spend their day calmly- with only one purpose. To survive and do everything all over again the next day. These people are warm at heart despite having their humanistic flaws. This is what makes us connect to them even more as we venture into their daily chores that reveal more about not only themselves but also Jeju Island and the country of South Korea itself. We follow the lives of people who have issues to deal with and are met with hurdles and happiness along the way. Though it may seem boring, this drama is anything but that.
Our Blues shows us the pains and internal struggles of every person, their way of coping with these challenges, and how even if sometimes there is no way to cope with a few things, we learn to live with them. This drama is not just a work of fiction, but it teaches us various things about life. It’s almost as if the spectators are gently fed the bitter poison of life that won’t kill them and still has a sweet aftertaste. It is a drama that everyone must watch, irrespective of whether they are into K-dramas or not.
If you’ve liked Our Blues, these are a few dramas you should check out:
1. Hometown Cha Cha Cha
If you can’t seem to get over an excellent drama like Our Blues, Hometown Cha Cha Cha is the perfect drama that you can choose to obsess over instead. Following a very similar plotline, it deals with the female lead, who moves to a seaside village to live a peaceful life, and the male lead, who is the Jack of all trades in the same village.
Though she doesn’t want them to cross paths, they seem to be meeting every day, sometimes even multiple times, on the same day, because of the male lead who does every other job in the village. A plumber? He’s there. A person to help to renovate a house? Oh, you’ve seen him again. A contractor? Yup, he’s here too! Like the saying, ‘If you see someone so many times, you will tend to fall for them, be it destiny or whatever,’ even in this drama, the more she sees the male lead, she seems to fall for him.
And from there blooms a beautiful love story that unfortunately has to be hidden from the public eye, i.e., the other village people. Not only the love angle, but we also explore the lives of the other villagers in this place. This drama will make you feel the same emotions you felt during Our Blues and is an effortless watch.

With the same plot revolving around people that live in the same neighborhood, Reply 1988 is yet another Korean drama that will show you the beautiful nature of human relationships. Not the relationships between people connected by blood but by the relationship of people connected by the walls of their houses. We follow the story of five friends and their parents, who are also friends, who live together and help each other with their troubles.
From two single parents who get together to the blooming romance between the teenagers, two of who can’t resist the feelings for their female friend who they suddenly find attractive, this drama will give you a hearty laugh along with heavy eyes because of the crying.
This drama beautifully shows various kinds of relationships, such as friendship, parents and children, and even blossoming love. Not just that, but we also see various high schools dynamics, such as bullying and the way most Korean students spend their high school life.
We also see one of the friends missing out on high school life. This drama, overall, has managed to successfully cover all kinds of challenges in a simple life and will make your experience of watching it a memorable one as you will come back to it, again and again, to seek comfort from its warmth.

3. Dear My Friends
This is another drama that beautifully depicts the intricate relationships humans have with each other. Whether they be between a mother-daughter or two friends, the depth of love and compassion they feel for each other has no limits. In Dear My Friends, we follow the story of friends who are in their old age- around their 70s. They still are great and close friends as they were years ago.
One of them asks her daughter to hang out with them so that a novel can be written about them. The protagonist, though reluctant, has no choice but to do so as she finally agrees. However, she is quite surprised when she finds herself feeling the warmth of her mother’s friends and the bond between them.
We also go along with her as we listen to their adventures and experiences from when they were young. As we do so, we can’t help but smile as we get to watch the purest form of happiness while listening to the story of these friends. 4. It’s Okay, That’s Love
Following the story of a psychiatrist and a popular host, we venture into It’s Okay, That’s Love to expect a soft-hearted enemies-to-lovers trope but the drama will surely surprise you with how much it explores something more than the usual romantic stuff. We are shown the vulnerable side of people that we perceive to be generally happy people.
It truly makes us realize we don’t know what’s going on with anyone unless we have a deep conversation with them. This drama not only warms your heart with affection but also makes you cry by showing us how both of the protagonists have complex emotional issues that need to be addressed. The plot unravels slowly and takes time to lay bare all these difficult scars that the characters have been carrying for a long time.
The scars aren’t beautiful but aren’t ugly either; they are just what they are. Scars. And we go on a journey with the main leads as they slowly embrace each other and comfort themselves until the scars are long forgotten, and the only thing they focus on is happiness. This drama will touch your heart for the way it portrays the pain and the easing of it perfectly.

5. When The Camellia Blooms
With quite a unique concept, this drama explores a spectrum of things. We follow the story of a single mother who is an orphan and has opened up a bar in a small village. However, she isn’t received warmly by the women there, and there are even rumors spread around about her. However, this doesn’t stop her from pursuing her dream and taking care of her child; neither does it stop the male lead from falling for her.
The things she has to battle to just be herself are quite difficult, and the way that she still stays strong shows that she has gone through all this before, and now, she is numb to all the gossip and rumors about her. It truly shows how we misjudge people based on their familial situations or the kind of work they do, and we don’t realize how much pain we cause them.
However, things seem to get a little complicated when there is a serial killer in this small town, and the next potential target could be the female lead. How people’s attitudes slowly change towards her when they realize that they’ve been wrong and how they finally accept her while trying to catch the killer constitutes the rest of the story.

12. When The Weather Is Fine
This novel-adapted drama is everything about the life we dream of when we are too tired of city life. The protagonist- who is a cello player, is quite hurt emotionally by people around her and decides to move to the countryside to calm her heart and mind. This is where she meets the male lead, who owns a bookstore and has very simple but content days.
He just opens up the shop, reads a book and writes a little, and does this every day. Though it may seem very routine and boring, he doesn’t seem to be tired of it. He loves it! The female lead is quite intrigued by this and decides to have such a simple life where she can relax and not worry about huge things too. We watch on as the duo slowly but surely start helping each other overcome their emotional issues and set off on a beautiful healing journey.
Then, eventually, love blossoms between them as we encounter a cute love story in the countryside. When the weather is fine, address a lot of mental issues that are considered taboo in Korea and step out of the boundaries fearlessly. This drama is something that everyone should watch at least once.

When she reappears, with an entirely new personality, even this time, he can’t stop himself from developing the same romantic feelings for her. Though the vibe might be quite different from other Korean dramas, Lovestruck in The City is a phenomenal drama that addresses topics that are usually not and is quite refreshing.
The intense chemistry between the main leads to the simple hurdles that might seem nothing to others but are quite heavy to a few things that elevate the drama even more. The fantastic cast and beautiful OSTs are only an added element that will make you enjoy it even more. When he finds out about the situation, he offers to take the lady in as they survive the difficulties together, helping each other out. Slowly, they start growing romantic attraction toward each other, which possess another threat, causing them to hide it within themselves for a long time.
We see how dangerous and difficult adulting is for someone who hasn’t learned anything about it. Though the drama mostly only caters to the grown-up population, young adults would relate more to it as it discusses various issues, from growing up to having to be independent and other such topics.

However, when her friend’s brother comes back and is a grown-up man instead of the little boy she used to remember, and she can’t help the growing attraction between them.
This drama does not fasten things up for the sake of it. Instead, the layers are gently undone, layer by layer, all the while as they slowly fall in love. And before they realize it, they are passionately in love with each other. Having to battle society due to the female lead being older than the male, which is considered a taboo in Korea, they also have to battle the conflicts in their relationship.
Everything from the cute heart-fluttering moments to the undeniable chemistry is there in this drama, and it feels so natural that we feel as though we are in some sort of daze as we watch it. It warms up your heart like a cup of hot chocolate on a winter night and should be on your watchlist.

Though it might seem that the only thing he cares about is getting revenge, he creates a familial bond with his friends. The drama, despite seeming to be quite dark and scary, is, in reality, very light-hearted. We see not only the male lead’s success but also his countless downfalls.
We are reminded of the pain one has to endure to get to his dreams, as if each problem is a test to see whether one will give up on their dreams or not. 24. Goodbye To Goodbye
This is probably a drama that is so unique that you haven’t come across similar types before. Instead of the usual sub-urban romance that ensues, it’s instead two women who try to understand each other. A middle-aged woman who is separated from her husband and a young girl who is pregnant and abandoned by her boyfriend, who in turn is the other protagonist’s son.
They start on very rough terms but end up understanding each other on a level they never thought they would. It also focuses on the side stories and has one of the most unique narratives. The performance by the whole cast was quite phenomenal, and the emotions were conveyed in the most accurate way possible.
The character arc of the supporting characters- though it might come off as a little sudden and unnatural is quite needed and executed decently. We can empathize with the main leads as we hear and watch their stories, even our hearts reaching out to them in compassion. Goodbye to Goodbye is one such drama that will occupy a tiny space in your heart.

A group of friends who have huge dreams but don’t have the proper resources that can help them achieve them is the premise of the plot. Not just achieving a dream but even finding it is so difficult, and the drama shows us exactly that in the most perfect way possible. We are shown the blood, sweat, and tears that people shed to find themselves as what they imagined to be. These friends, too, are the same as they strive harder and harder despite not having a good background or a rich parent to back them up.
Their stubborn motivation is quite a delight to watch as it motivates the audience too. This drama also showcases the warm-hearted friendship that stays with them no matter what. They do have conflicts like any other friends, but what’s different is that they can overcome all those and stay together by the end of the day.

A sprinter who had to leave behind his career due to some problems, and a girl who writes subtitles. Though they might seem quite simple, their relationship has the complexities of every other relationship, and being in the spotlight as a celebrity might even increase them even more.
The other couple is a CEO, who is being discriminated against because of her gender, and an artist who pulls up into her life surprisingly one day. These couples struggle with their feelings and have a hard time expressing them to others. But that doesn’t stop them from having the sappy romantic love story and immense chemistry that the audience falls in love with.
With a wonderful cast and an even more amazing story, this drama will make you feel the summery-spring vibes of love like Our Blues. This is the best reason it should be checked off of your watchlist soon!

29. Encounter
Encounter is quite true to its title, basing the drama on a single encounter that happens between the main leads, who seem to have opposite personalities. The female lead has no control over her life, and her father makes her do everything to maintain their huge reputation. This is how she ends up in a hopeless marriage from which she takes a divorce soon.
While our male lead is a simple man, leading a simple life while working a simple job, he enjoys little things in life and appreciates them a lot. A love that blooms between them in a foreign area when they’re on a trip is the basic plot, and the whole story revolves around that.
Though there is quite some tension due to social class differences, this drama is known for its wath youthful vibes that remind you of summer. The beauty of two people just catching feelings because they appreciate what the other person is doing is portrayed phenomenally. Encounter is one of those dramas that will stay with you for a long time and feel like a warm cup of coffee.

30. Warm And Cozy
We have seen so many people say that they’ve married their first lover, and it makes us wonder how people are so lucky to meet their soulmates in just one go while others have to go through some difficult relationships to find the right one. Warm and Cozy talks exactly about that.
Two people who have just toxic and depressive relationships find themselves on Jeju Island and start to first observe each other. They shyly make conversation and get to know one another as they realize how similar their situations are. They help each other mature into better adults as they point out their beauty as well as their flaws and help them overcome them.
In this process, they start falling in love with each other in the most endearing way possible, as if a lost deer has found its way back home finally. This dramatically makes you feel the fireworks that explode in their hearts, along with its comforting warmth. Quite similar to Our Blues, you should check this out if you can’t seem to get over the above-mentioned drama.
