Aired in 2000, a fairly older anime release, InuYasha is about a dog demon, Inuyasha, who is a half-demon and is the son of a great demon called Toga and a human mother called Izayoi. We have put this anime on this list because of the similarity of the main characters being non-human and its supernatural elements.
The female protagonist, Kagome Higurashi, ends up in the Sengoku period of feudal Japan after being pulled down a well by a demon. I don’t think there have been people who have watched Black Butler and not become instant fans, especially when you have characters as gorgeous as Sebastian. The story of Black Butler follows the story of Ciel Phantomhive, the twelve-year-old boy who is the last survivor of an aristocratic family in Victorian-era London. While Ciel has formed a contract with his butler, Sebastian Michaelis, he has also been tasked with solving underground crimes in the city.

Junketsu no Maria is a historical fantasy anime set in France during the Hundred Wars era, in a fictional world. Maria, the strongest witch of her time, tries intervening between the warring countries.
She tries to manipulate the opposing nations using her succubus and incubus familiars. She also created illusions among the people to maintain peace which got her appreciation from the people in her city and resentment from the Church.
Rated 17, this anime also includes a slightly mature plot potion as well. Her familiars tease her for not having had relationships and doing things further. She comes under the acknowledgment of the archangel Michael who forbids her from using her power for humans or publicly showing her powers.
He also concludes that if Maria were to lose her virginity, she would lose her magical powers, for which he sent down another angel called Ezekiel to keep a close eye on her. A historical fantasy anime with hilarious dialogue had to be added here, which made Junketsu no Maria a part of this list.

Kakuriyo: Bed and Breakfast for Spirits (IMDb: 7.6/10)
Kakuriyo is another rom-com fantasy anime with witty dialogue to make you laugh. Another fantasy anime that has elements of romance in it makes its way to this list. The humorous plotline almost makes it sound like Wattpad fanfiction turned into an anime. Here is how it goes-
Aoi Tsubaki is an abandoned child left by her mother, who has the power to see the Ayakashi – spirits from the hidden realm. Her grandfather, who also had this ability, trained her to live peacefully with the ayakashi.
However, due to her grandfather’s sudden death, she needs to live on with her life, as she used to – with the sole knowledge of keeping herself protected from the Ayakashi – to cook delicious food and feed them so that they don’t think of eating her or other humans who aren’t aware of their existence.
After giving food to one such Ayakashi, Aoi finds herself in the Hidden Realm, where he reveals himself as an Ogre God called Oodanna, or the Master Innkeeper. It is revealed here that she was used as collateral for her grandfather’s hundred million yen debt and had to repay the debt by marrying the Oodanna.
She vehemently denies the offer and decides to pay him back in her way – opening an eatery at the Ayakashi’s inn. The story mainly revolves around her changing the lives of the Ayakashi by feeding them her delicious handmade meals.

Released earlier this year, Sugar Apple Fairy Tale has stunning and dazzling animation. This anime gives vague feelings similar to Hakushaku to Yousei.

Moving away a little from action anime to romance anime but still sticking to our fantasy fiction plotline, Akagami no Shirayukihime portrays a story of a cheerful red-haired girl who lives in the country of Tanbarun while working as an apothecary in her herbal medicine shop.
It is such a magical anime, quite in tune with the fantasy genre – it will make you want to live in the anime itself. Just as a magical character, Shirayuki has apple-red hair, and because of this, she gets noticed by the prince of Tanbarun, who tries to make her his concubine forcefully.
Not wanting to give up on her freedom and love for medicine, she cut off a reasonable portion of her hair and ran away; later on, be rescued by Zen Wistalia – the prince of a neighboring country and his two aides. Set in Britain, Princess Principal ensues in a fictional kingdom called Albion. Much like how Wakanda monopolized Vibranium to become a dominant power, the kingdom of Albion monopolized a peculiar substance called ‘cavorite.’ With this substance, they constructed a fleet of heavily armed airships, which helped Albion become a superpower.
This tore the country apart with its division of people – the proletariats and the bourgeois which sparked their ‘London Revolution, where the people of the lower classes wanted to overthrow the royal family. The two countries came to a middle ground, and a large wall was made in the middle of London, dividing Albion into two nations – the Commonwealth and the Kingdom.
Years later, the Commonwealth devised a plan to replace the Kingdom’s Princess Charlotte with Ange, a girl who looks strikingly similar to her, to have an agent highly placed within the royal family. However, the plot twists when the princess wants to work for the Commonwealth if Ange and her friends help her to become the Queen of the Kingdom.

Gintama (IMDb: 8.7/10)
The story of Gintama is set in the fictional alternative historical period of the Edo kingdom, where the human race is under attack by aliens called Amanto – sky people, and subsequently, they take control of the nation, and the once powerful Shogutane becomes a puppet government – and they pass a law where one is not allowed to carry swords in public.
With this story in the background, the main character, Gintoki Sataka, is a bold and carefree character with shiny gray hair who always carries around a sword and maintains his posture as a samurai, even though there is a ban on both. Gintoki helps people doing odd small jobs, often unexpected by others, while being the founder of Yoruzuya.
The Yorozuya team, consisting of Shinpachi Shimura, a glasses-wearing boy who is learning the art of being a samurai; Kagura, a girl with a tomboyish personality, possessing extraordinary physical strength and an insatiable hunger; and Sadaharu, their enormous pet dog that enjoys biting off people’s heads, face various challenges in the constantly evolving world of Edo, ranging from confrontations with local gangs to interactions with extraterrestrial rulers.

Natsume’s Book of Friends (IMDb: 8.1/10)
One of my favorite anime, with a good plot and animation, is rated an 8.1, after all! Natsume Takashi possesses a unique gift of being able to see spirits – which he has kept hidden for a long time, yet he doesn’t know how to deal with them. However, when he inherits a peculiar book once owned by his late grandmother, Reiko, he finally learns why these spirits are drawn to him.
The book contains a list of the spirits’ names, establishing a binding agreement between the book’s owner and the spirits. Natsume now sets out to release the spirits from their contracts by returning their names with the assistance of a Chinese-lucky-cat-looking spirit. The anime shows his time trying to free the spirits from the contract and restore their freedom.

Murenase! Seton Gakuen (IMDb: 6.6/10)
Seton Academy is a unique educational institution that boasts a predominance of animal students over humans due to a significant decline in the human population. In this school, Jin Mazama is the sole male human in his class and harbors a deep-seated hatred toward animals.
It is a slightly different anime than the supernatural, dark fantasy trope that most anime followed. Still, the Shounen, anthropomorphic, and romance themes made it slightly similar to the Tale of Outcasts.
However, he finds himself smitten with Hitomi Hino, the only human female in the school. Despite his reluctance, Jin becomes embroiled with different creatures when he joins the “pack” of Ranka Ookami, the lone member of her wolf pack.

Here is a slightly lower-rated anime, The Dawn of the Witch is about Saybil, a sorcerer with immense power who had inexplicably forgotten everything about his life before he spent three years in college.
To help him regain his abilities, the headmaster of the magic school, Albus (yes, not Dumbledore), sends him to the southern region of the continent, where there is still rampant discrimination against those who practice witchcraft and sorcery.
He then meets a silver-haired witch who promises him ‘special training,’ but that is not where it ends. He still didn’t know what the witch wanted from him, especially when she had the same eyes as him.

When an anime begins with “Shingeki no-” we usually think of Shingeki no Kyojin, aka Attack on Titan. Still, this anime called Shingeki, no Bahamut is as attention-capturing and interesting to watch. A decade has passed since the planet was saved from the destruction caused by the resurrection of Bahamut. Presently, the inhabitants of the royal capital are accumulating riches, while the demons are compelled to serve and support the revival of the capital.
Additionally, the gods are losing their strength because of reduced religious devotion. This has resulted in an imbalance in the world, as humans, gods, and demons each uphold their concepts of justice.
