Jurassic World Dominion, the action fantasy suspense movie stars Bryce Dallas Howard and Chris Pratt, re-kindle the flames in the viewers to the fantastic happening land of Nublar filled with various kinds of land and air dinosaurs, corresponds to the 1993’s Jurassic Park, which was the start of the legacy.
In 2015’s Jurrasic World movie, we saw in order to get more people to visit the theme parks. Personnel planned to reveal a freshly made man-made dinosaur that was far higher in technology advanced and dangerous than set expectations.
Jurassic World quickly came to the list of top-grossing movies of all time. Since then, the movie got numerous follow-up movies- Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom in 2018 and Jurassic World Dominion in 2022.
Colin Trevorrow has directed these films, and he is back to directing the third movie after writing the second one and directing the first one. Now, if you’re a dedicated fan of Jurassic World movies, then you must have already watched all the Jurassic movies, including Steven Spielberg‘s Jurassic Park and other movies from the franchise.

Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark
Just Like Jurassic World movies, Indiana Jones movies are also full of action, thrill, and adventures in every scene. The main protagonist of the movie is Indiana Jones, played by the legendary Harrison Ford. He is an archeologist in the movie who wants to find the unique Ark of the Covenant before the Nazis, so they can keep it safe and prevent the Nazis from using it for evil.
In his journey, he meets many known faces, like Marion Ravenwood, who is his former lover in the movie, played by Karen Allen, and is pitted against new and old enemies, including the villain, Rene Belloq, played by Paul Freeman.
As they travel the world with Jones, the spectator is thrust into an exciting journey. The excitement changes from one second to the next. There are naturally occurring tense and hilarious moments. The real-world effects in this movie are fantastic.
The SFX & VFX guys accomplished a great job without the use of CGI. The classic face-melting sequence is the most renowned of this movie. My admiration for this movie has only grown after learning how the crew was able to do this without using many resources back in the day. A must-watch in my book.
- Released in: 1981
- IMDB Score: 8.4
- Cast: Harrison Ford, Karen Allen, Paul Freeman
- Directed By: Steven Spielberg

War for the Planet of the Apes
The whole Planet of the Apes franchise is a must-watch, in my opinion. War for the Planet of the Apes is the third part of the movie series and has a darker subject and features Caesar, the main character, struggling with his inner demons. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes was an overall good package in the trilogy.
He felt regret and resentment when his wife and kid died, and he may have forgotten the cause he was fighting for in favor of getting retribution. However, he subsequently came to understand that it is their presence that distinguishes them from humans. A well-made movie that is emotional, character-driven, thought-provoking, and heartbreaking.
The CGI is flawless in this movie, which is one of the greatest modern trilogies of the past ten years. For a movie to be mostly supported by non-human CGI characters about them speaks a lot about the skills of the writers who wrote, starred in, produced, and directed it. Matt Reeves did an amazing job with the trilogy in delivering the movie, characters, and plot. You should definitely check it out.
- Released in: 2017
- IMDB Score: 7.4
- Cast: Andy Serkis, Woody Harrelson, Steve Zahn, and others

King Kong
King Kong came out in 2005, and it created waves when it was released. The plot is incredibly epic and has more animals and action as well. Compared to the original, this version has more thrill and fun elements. Peter Jackson definitely took this movie seriously, making it more shocking expectations, and was very faithful to the source material.
The cast was on point. Jack Black did a good job playing Carl Denham. The music, the images, and the careful attention to the acting skills of the actors all contribute to the beauty of this film. It isn’t hurried, and neither is the dialogue. It adds variety to the story and makes the characters easier to relate to.
Jack Black excels, but I like him when he plays a character that is both more serious and still silly. In this job as the director, he gets to really show off his acting skills. It is a timeless movie, like seriously, you can watch it anytime with friends and family, and it will leave you appreciating it,
- Released in: 2005
- IMDB Score: 7.2
- Cast: Naomi Watts, Jack Black, Adrien Brody
- Directed By: Peter Jackson

Pacific Rim
Pacific Rim was directed by Guillermo del Toro, and it came out in 2013. Del Toro is a fantastic director, and his heart and mind are present in each of his films. Likable people, fully realized characters, an ideal hero voyage, crafted action that, to the scope that science allows it, allows physics-bending scenes on the screen.
I admire how they introduced the beasts in the first scene and didn’t make me feel too bored. The plot is wonderful, and the characters are well-developed and great. Scientists Newton and Becket are the favorites in the entire movie. They are all related to one another and likable.
The movement of the robots in every fight scenario felt realistic. If you like the Transformers movie franchise, then you should definitely watch this. It may correspond to it in some manner, though it is a completely fresh take on Kaiju movies, especially with jaegers in it.
- Released in: 2013
- IMDB Score: 6.9
- Cast: Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi
- Directed By: Guillermo del Toro

Tremors
Tremors is a movie franchise, and the first part arrived in 1990 and is a highly likable and fun-to-experience monster movie. It is a funny movie that takes place in a lonely desert area of Nevada, where the locals are quirky yet welcoming. Even with the invasion of these horrible slug-like monsters, the chemistry between Fred Ward and Kevin Bacon works well, and there is comedic relief as the movie glides through the scenes.
Tremors strike all the proper notes and work wonderfully with what it is, so you can watch it with anyone and enjoy it. Yes, the years-later sequels were not as good or smart, but I promise you won’t be let down if you watch the entire series on a slow afternoon. So it is recommended, especially the first 1990 one.
- Released in: 1990
- IMDB Score: 7.1
- Cast: Kevin Bacon, Fred Ward, Finn Carter
- Directed By: Ron Underwood

Godzilla
Good characters with true intentions are present in the film, which also features incredible camera jobs and memorable images. All the actors, co-actors, and supporting cast did an amazing job in the movie, which kept the movie quite fun throughout. Bryan Cranston‘s character, who is trying to establish that this beast truly exists, was the one that most caught my attention.
The film also has incredible computer-generated effects, and Godzilla, in particular, looks fantastic. You can feel how large the beasts are because of the way they are shown. You can see just how a human would see these monsters since the conflicts are filmed from the perspective of the human characters.
The rating is also superior, so if you like movies based on these types of movies, then you should definitely have a look at Godzilla once, and if you like the first one, also watch other ones that follow this one.
- Released in: 2014
- IMDB Score: 6.4
- Cast: Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen, Bryan Cranston, and others
- Directed By: Gareth Edwards

Kong: Skull Island
The movie Kong Skull Island is stunning, and Kong is massive. The action in this movie is intense and fantastic. The CGI in the Monster verse films is unbelievable and seems actual. The movie’s climactic arrangement is totally stunning, as Kong befriends the good guys and aids the humans in their struggle against the Big one.
The CGI is good in these movies, and they also have a good amount of action in them. It had a good story with a great star cast which did a good job of displaying the story, Jordan Roberts’s direction was best to average in the movie, so you may or may not like the movie.
But if you are a fan of movies that have big monsters then I can ensure that you will like the movie a lot as it was a good movie to the first movie and there is also a surprise for the original fans, just watch it to find out.
- Released in: 2017
- IMDB Score: 6.6
- Cast: Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, Brie Larson, and others

Independence Day
Aliens are trying to exterminate the human species in the science fiction thriller movie. And what a display of animation, action, and acting. Huge flying spacecraft that threateningly hover over the world’s greatest cities and then start destroying kilometers of land that are thickly filled with people.
Humans are prepared to fight them back. The world joins together for a retaliatory strike led by a trained marine fighter pilot, a computer specialist, and a variety of supporting characters in order to save the world, which is quickly falling apart.
It came out in 196, and it was way ahead of its time. The CGI animation everything was so futuristic. You will still find this movie entertaining today. It is filled with fast-paced actions, explosions, and gunfights, so just go for it.
- Released in: 1996
- IMDB Score: 7
- Cast: Will Smith, Bill Pullman, Jeff Goldblum

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle
The original Jumanji was released in 1995, and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle is the sequel to that movie. The story revolves around four adolescents from New Hampshire who find an ancient video game that will change their lives for good. The teens are brought into the game after placing it into the console, and they each change into the character they choose to play before the game begins.
They quickly understand that they must play and win the game to get back to their original life, or else they will perish inside the game. It was full of fun and adventure. It was a light flick with a casual plot and fun acting.
So keep your expectations in check before watching the movie. It will not leave you shocked. Instead, it will make you laugh and enjoy. Dwane Jhonson and Kevin Hart complement each other in creating those comic moments like other supporting characters.

Journey to the Center of the Earth
Journey to the Center of the Earth came out in 2008, and it stars Brendan Fraser, who played the character of Trevor Anderson, a volcanologist who is based in Boston. He receives a box from his missing brother and decides to follow the clues in the box to expose some mysterious island in order to find the location of his brother.
He decides to take his nephew Sean played by Josh Hutcherson, along with him. The pair goes on a crazy adventure, exploring mysterious routes, caves, mountains, and lakes as they find their way.
The movie got mixed views from critics and viewers, some of the other parts of the movie have an alike format to Jurassic World movies which is a bonus for the fans of the Jurassic World movies. If you love Branden Fraser in the Mummy series, then you will love him in this movie more, so surely check it out.

Children of Men
Theo Feron, played by Clive Owen, was an activist and presently is a bureaucrat who, due to his estranged wife Julian, played by Julianne Moore, unwillingly decides to assist a violent activist institution. The Earth will be fully unproductive in the year 2027, endangering population growth and worsening an already alarming immigration situation.
Theo is given the job of protecting Kee played by Clare Hope, who is in asylum and, more importantly, is pregnant, which has happened first time in eighteen years. When you watch the movie, you will like that movie is more centered on the adults, the themes, and the layout. Jurassic World has casually centered around all age groups.
The flick also clings to the root of humanity and explores the scientific paths using science. The structure is more real than made-up dinosaurs. Both movies are deeper and have strong bases and compelling, scary, and hopefully predictable cases. The original fans of the Jurassic Pak movie should definitely check this movie out as they will find it more relatable in many terms.
- Released in: 2006
- IMDB Score: 7.9
- Cast: Clive Owen, Julianne Moore, Michael Caine
- Directed By: Alfonso Cuarón

Love and Monsters
Love and Monsters came out in 2020, and it was set to be released in theaters, but due to covid pandemic, it suffered a great loss. Very soon, it was shifted to video on demand and on diverse online platforms, which was not good as Love and Monsters was one of the craziest adaptations of this theme in recent years.
The point that Dylan O’Brien’s role was a teenager when things started to go south and that he is now an adult with no idea how to live in his new surroundings makes for a wonderful performance. Throughout the movie, his personality grows immensely, and other characters can be seen suggesting him adviser and direction to give him an opportunity to meet his love interest Aimee played by Jessica Henwick.
The movie balances everything from monsters, action, love, and humor to fast-paced storytelling and thrill at the edge of your seat. What else could you ask for? Definitely check this one out.
- Released in: 2020
- IMDB Score: 6.9
- Cast: Dylan O’Brien, Jessica Henwick, Dan Ewing
- Directed By: Michael Matthews
- Streaming Platforms: Netflix, Amazon Prime Videos
Land of the Lost
Land of the Lost came out in 2009, and it stars Will Ferrell. You may have guessed it. The movie is full of comedic and funny elements. It was adapted from the TV series, but it was a very subtle adaptation. Will portrays the character of Rick Marshall, who is a paleontologist and is obsessed with time zones and time wraps, his whole career hot hit after interviewing Matt Lauer.
He got inspiration from Holly, played by Anna Friel. Rick continues with his study, and the next thing is he, Holly, and Will, played by Danny McBride, a gift shop owner. All three of them get to migrate to a land of loss. It was funny, it was entertaining, and more importantly, it fits in the Jurassic World theme rather okay with the dinosaurs, lost land, and thrill to watch.
- Released in: 2009
- IMDB Score: 5.3
- Cast: Will Ferrell, Danny McBride, Anna Friel
- Directed By: Brad Silberling
- Streaming Platforms: Amazon Prime Videos, Apple TV
Godzilla: King of the Monsters
Godzilla: King of the Monsters is the sequel to Godzilla, released in 2014. A really entertaining movie that vastly improves on the 2014 version. There are no obvious narrative gaps or other issues in the movie.
In contrast to 2014, where you only saw the monsters for a brief while before they were replaced by human scenes, this time, the monster blows are incredible. This was too grim. Dark scenes are a little lighter, so you can watch the animals fight. It is filled with big bad monsters, and many of them are full of action and drama and on-point CGI.
If you have watched the 2014 Godzilla, then you should watch this one too. The music, the theme, you are bound to get goosebumps every time you hear the roar of monsters fighting, a chilling experience. It is a definite step up from that movie.
- Released in: 2019
- IMDB Score: 6.0
- Cast: Millie Bobby Brown, Vera Farmiga, and Others
- Directed By: Michael Dougherty

A Sound of Thunder
A Sound of Thunder came out in 2005 and is based on the book of the same name. The movie was not well accepted. It was a total disaster. The budget was too high, and the CGI and the animation were not up to the mark. Even if the viewers did not like the movie, it is getting a mention on this list just because it has a big monster in it, so you may check it out but not have any type of expectations from it.
- Released in: 2005
- IMDB Score: 4.2
- Cast: Edward Burns, Catherine McCormack, Ben Kingsley
- Directed By: Peter Hyams
- Streaming Platforms: Amazon Prime Videos
Deep Blue Sea
Deep Blue Sea is a franchise of three movies, and the first movie came out in 1999. They must have had to carry a gigantic portion of water through the sets. The CGI shark effects, while still in their infancy at the time, are stiff and unnatural in comparison to the actual effects of the sharks, but not much to complain about, given that it was released in 199 when all these things were just getting introduced in the movie.
The background music has a creepy, tense feel about it. All the actors are superior entertainers, and the movie is really suspenseful. Shark horror films must constantly appear more realistic and creative. Due to the dead bodies, blood, and gore scenes, I would most definitely not suggest that immature children watch this movie.
Other successive flicks were good installments and led the story in a good direction. So I recommend that you watch all the movies to get a good experience of the movies and the themes.
- Released in: 1999
- IMDB Score: 5.9
- Cast: Saffron Burrows, Thomas Jane, LL Cool J, and Others
- Directed By: Renny Harlin

Daybreakers
Daybreakers came out in 2009 and is a very worthy and well-put movie. People don’t want to age because of how the world is evolving, but vampires are being affected less and less by human beings as a result, which is causing them to go extinct.
So they are looking for a cure that will allow them to convert back into humans. The storyline is quite fascinating, and the performers are really supported in their parts. I think they were aware that he had to die in order to appease the audience.
All in all, the movie had a good plot, was better showcased, and all the actors managed to bring the movie as a whole add to that, the ending was also adequate. You can watch this one.
- Released in: 2009
- IMDB Score: 6.4
- Cast: Ethan Hawke, Willem Dafoe, Sam Neill
- Directed By: The Spierig Brothers

The Time Machine
The Time Machine came out in 2002, and it was ahead of its time in the true sense. In 1899, a thief shot Professor Alexander Hartdegen, portrayed by Guy Pearce‘s fiancee, in a park, killing her. Following that, he spends his time alone trying to build a time machine to save her. He decides to travel into the future after constructing the technology and realizing that he cannot alter the result.
His endpoint is 800,000 years from now, when there are two distinct species of humans. It is a tricky job to think and illustrate what the far future will hold, but Simon Well managed to pull that off well. The actors kept the whole premise interesting and captivating throughout the whole runtime.
You should definitely watch this film, as I can ensure that it will keep you entertained. As mentioned, the movie was ahead of its time, and if it had been released in 2015-2016 or even today, it would’ve gained much more popularity than before.
- Released in: 2002
- IMDB Score: 6.0
- Cast: Guy Pearce, Samantha Mumba, Orlando Jones
- Directed By: Simon Wells

Evolution
Evolution came out in 2001, and in contrast to earlier flicks, this one has a variety of alien species, and each actor conveys a unique kind of humor to the role. The audience is only drawn to this movie by its comedic, romantic, tense, and thriller elements. It is a good funny movie and will surely give you a good time.
The cast has all the comic actors, which kept the story light, funny and entertaining. You will surely love the timing of each actor. It never comes close to being as scary as the Jurassic Park trilogy, but it’s a lighthearted break in the sea of all these big blockbusters.
The cast has strong chemistry, the monsters look fantastic, and most of all, it never attempts to be something it is not. Fox Mulder plays the protagonist in this humorous, big-budget movie about aliens.
- Released in: 2001
- IMDB Score: 6.1
- Cast: David Duchovny, Orlando Jones, Seann William Scott
- Directed By: Ivan Reitman

Reign of Fire
Reign of Fire was directed by Rob Bowman and was released in 2002. With its post-apocalyptic end of the current day as the subject of the story, the movie gave a magnetic view of the Man vs. Dragon story. The location was a great touch, Bale’s character was well-researched and acted, and the dragon effects were respectable for a 2002 film.
The Dragons instantly stole the show from any of the human characters when they arrived since they were so large, destructive, and ferocious. It is what you are looking for, a fantastic dragon movie. A really clever spot for a mythological beast film with an amazing cast of Christian Bale, Matthew McConaughey, and others which will keep you entertained all along.
- Released in: 2002
- IMDB Score: 6.2
- Cast: Matthew McConaughey, Christian Bale, Izabella Scorupco
- Directed By: Rob Bowman

Jaws
The first Jaws movie came out in 1975, and just like the Jurassic Park movie, Jaws also had an element of horror in them. The giant, scary animals that wreak havoc on objects and kill people, both movies have a similar vibe to them. This is such a direct vision, yet it’s managed so brilliantly and thrillingly that it’s undoubtedly one of the greatest movies ever made.
With this movie, Speilberg made his debut and provided some of the best directing ever from a new director. The suspense is out of this world, and everything stands up really well. The supporting cast is also amazing.
There aren’t too many characters, but there are just enough for there to be a spirited debate or a disagreement every now and again. It is near Jurassic movies in many ways, so you can watch the Jaws franchise if you like the first one.
- Released in: 1975
- IMDB Score: 8.1
- Cast: Roy Scheider, Robert Shaw, Richard Dreyfuss
- Directed By: Steven Spielberg

Anaconda
The first Anaconda came out in 1997, and I am sure you must have already seen or heard about it somewhere. The anaconda prop was terrifying, and the CGI in the film was put together effectively. Overall, the performance was well-done, and everyone in the cast, including Ice Cube and Jenner Lopez, did an awesome job portraying their roles.
You will love the snake and the terror it constructs across the whole movie. Full havoc, fast-paced scenes, and ulterior motives of the characters were something to watch. It gained a lot of popularity, and a few other movies in the franchise were also made.
If you like the big bad dinosaurs in Jurassic World, then for sure you will love the Anaconda in this one. The CGI and VFX of the big snake were adequate, given the time and resources available in 1997.
- Released in: 1997
- IMDB Score: 4.8
- Cast: Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube, and Others
- Directed By: Luis Llosa
- Streaming Platforms: Amazon Prime Videos
Okja
Okja came out in 2017, it also has a big monster, but the twist is he is a friendly monster. Surprisingly, this tale of a girl and her super pig against the corporate system is not as absurd as it may seem. Each component makes sense as soon as it is said, just like it would on any other workday.
The business side’s icy indifference permeates the whole movie and fuels the feeling of helplessness. As always, Tilda Swinton kept her part good and made the whole experience attached. You should definitely check this movie out.
- Released in: 2017
- IMDB Score: 7.3
- Cast: Tilda Swinton, Paul Dano, Ahn Seo-hyun
