If you want to talk about movies based on holiday themes, there are always holidays like Valentine’s Day, Christmas, and Halloween, and many movies are presently based on these holidays. We see year-on-year many movie releases on these holidays.
On the other hand, Thanksgiving movies are not that mainstream and are also considered less. It is a shame to see, considering all the joy and drama that Thanksgiving brings to the whole family under the same roof as potatoes and turkey.
Still, there are a lot of movies to watch on Thanksgiving as well. For example, Planes, Trains, and Automobiles revolve around a man who takes a dangerous and tedious journey to spend quality time with his family. If you have seen Pieces of April or Krisha? It is the story of two women who meet their relatives for Thanksgiving, and there are many more movies based on different themes.
All the movies have Thanksgiving somewhere in the background, but many movies show the importance of family in times of peril and how important it is to have a family who loves and takes care of each other. The movie titled See is a deep, profound drama about the connections between Chinese American lady and their mother, and it also has a lot of different varieties of food.
So I think this list is sufficient for most of the viewers who are looking for thanksgiving movies. Now, I know you may or may not spend thanksgiving time with your family, but you can enjoy these movies alone to get the feeling of warmth.
Whatever your plan is, you can enjoy the movies given on this list. The movies listed on this list are in no particular order, so just scroll through the list, and I am sure you will get something to watch.
1. Alice’s Restaurant
Alice’s Restaurant is an unforeseen Thanksgiving sitcom directed by Arthur Penn, who re-envisioned Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow as counter-culture anti-heroes in his 1967 gangster classic, Bonnie and Clyde. Penn did the same thing with Arlo Guthrie, the son of folk hero Woody Guthrie, the devoted anti-fascist who wrote: “This Land is Our Land.”
The film is based on a 1967 folk song Alice’s Restaurant Massacree by Arlo Guthrie. The restaurant was not renamed “Alice’s Restaurant.” That’s just the name of the song, which is quite talkative, like the movie, which is also pretty violent and very drug-fuelled.
The film doesn’t start with Thanksgiving, but at the Army Recruiting Centre, where Arlo, as himself, is trying to escape the draught. Turns out he doesn’t have a legitimate excuse to stay out of fighting. However, the Thanksgiving setting gives the film its focus and the key cause to be grateful.
The key plot is to get rid of some garbage after a holiday meal. Arlo and his friends load a few month’s worths of trash into their red VW microbus, along with “shovels, rakes, and other destructive devices,” and head to the city landfill, which is closed for Thanksgiving. They’d never heard of a landfill that had been locked on Thanksgiving before, but with tears in their eyes, they’d head away to find some spot to store the trash.
2. The Oath
With this directorial debut, Ike Barinholtz has created a sharp satire of America during the Trump era with all the political divisions that it entails. The film takes place in America, where everyone must sign an oath of allegiance before the day after Thanksgiving.
Liberal couple Chris and Kai are pushing back against such an oath, but they are more concerned about having to deal with a politically fractious Thanksgiving family.
The holiday becomes even more chaotic as two special agents appear at the house answering questions. What makes The Oath such a delight is that Barinholtz does not attempt to cling on to his liberal persona as the one who has all the answers but rather displays a spectrum of opinions that inevitably lead to heated discussions with no clear answers. And if the film gets darker as it goes on.
3. Free Birds
Critics didn’t gobble up this computer-animated film featuring two turkeys (spoken by Owen Wilson and Woody Harrelson) that brought the time machine back to the first Thanksgiving in history – an altering quest to keep the turkey from being a traditional holiday meal. (‘Is Hollywood trying to turn your little ones into strident vegetarians?’ panicked The New York Post.)
The film directed by Jimmy Hayward has received negative feedback for his commercial relationship with Chuck E. Cheese and his controversial portrayal of Native American characters. Despite the criticism, this PETA-approved film has a sweet spot in the hearts of parents who want a meat-free Thanksgiving, and who won’t mind a bedtime conversation about where the meat comes from.
Like a movie about Santa Claus, “Free Birds” scores points for “Babe”—like a defiant message—who wants a turkey for Thanksgiving? —that calls for a sanctified holiday tradition with a child-friendly sass. It’s a misfit movie that’s a perfect family pick.
4. Funny People
After the commercial success of The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Knocked Up, writer-director Judd Apatow paired up with his old pal Sand-man for a slightly meta, James L. Brooks-an an exploration of humor, sickness, and death.
For certain moments, this film is like nothing else you’ve ever seen and Sandler feels caustic, cutting, and alive in ways he’s never been on the screen before, playing a famous comic who’s diagnosed with a terminal illness.
As he recruits a hard-fought comic (Seth Rogen) to be his assistant and reconnect with old friends, it’s a dark yet cozy friendship movie—fitted with his own Friendsgiving scene—that feels like returning home. It’s exciting to think that Sandler, a risk-averse comic who appears to use most of his movies as holiday gifts for his friends and family, has chosen to star in a film that’s weird, dirty, and intimate.
5. You’ve Got Mail
Not only does this classic Nora Ephron film give us the signature bittersweet agony of “but will they work out? Remade from Ernst Lubitsch’s zippy 1940 rom-com The Shop Around the Corner, based on a 1937 Hungarian book, Ephron’s script offers Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan a chance to moan as they click their words on the keyboard, their charisma in full effect. (Thanks, particularly, on the scene where he intervenes for Ryan’s Kathleen, in the Zabar’s Thanksgiving cash-only checkout line, concluding with the clerk’s classic “Happy Thanksgiving back.” deadpan.) While the internet chatroom jokes have been obsolete, Hanks’ joke about Starbucks orders still prevails.
6. Hannah and Her Sisters
The film that won Michael Caine and Dianne Wiest Oscars, Hannah and Her Sisters is a family tale framed between two Thanksgivings and the year that brings them together. With a meticulous glimpse into the heights and anxieties of upper-middle-class life among Manhattan intellectuals, the film is really the work of Hannah (Mia Farrow) and her sisters Holly (Dianne Wiest) and Lee (Barbara Hershey).
There is also the passion of Hannah’s husband Elliot (Caine), who has an affair with Lee, but the film is mainly told from the viewpoint of three women of differing ages grappling with how they see themselves and their futures in New York’s year of life.
Writer-director Woody Allen is also here in this family, dealing with his own fears of death, but his and Elliot’s positions are ultimate as outside spectators who come every Thanksgiving to watch the sisters and their parents renew their family ties… and close ranks.
7. Friendsgiving
An old-fashioned Thanksgiving dinner is for ham, stuffing, and pumpkin pie. What you don’t need is a family, at least not the one you’re born with. This is the idea behind this new comedy, written and directed by Nicol Paone, about a wildly chaotic “Friendsgiving,” a portmanteau that depicts a pre-Thanksgiving meal shared by friends, usually before they go home to see their parents.
Kat Dennings and Malin Akerman starred as gal pals who broke bread with a sexually and racially varied assortment of quirky peers, bewildered strangers, and party crashers. In her Times review, Lovia Gyarkye said that the film takes a surprisingly charming and funny approach to a traditional holiday.” Watch Jane Seymour as a prowl sexpot mom and cameos from Fortune Feimster, Wanda Sykes and Margaret Cho as a wizard of “fairy gay mothers.”
8. Home for the Holidays
Jodie Foster’s film career spanned six decades; she won two Oscars, two Golden Globes, and three BAFTAs. However, her only appointments to Emmy come from her tenure as a producer, and while her work behind the camera is pale in comparison to her acting career, she merits a spot on the list of the best actors-turned-directors.
An example of this is Home for Holidays, her third feature film, which adeptly blends grounded drama with funny humor in the story of a down-to-ear-luck single mother who spends Thanksgiving. Holly Hunter and the pre-rehab Robert Downey Jr. excel as beleaguered brothers, and as a manager, Foster manages the irony of the holiday by never turning too far away from his emotional crosshairs.
9. Pieces of April
Katie Holmes’ career will almost inevitably be dominated by her now-defunct marriage to Tom Cruise, but movies like Pieces of April illustrate just how much of a shame it is—in the right circumstances, Holmes can bring a film of both comedy and emotional weight.
After Holmes’ title, April, invites her stray relatives to Thanksgiving, including her terminally ill mum, Joy, and her family to bring things together, making a funny but serious indie film that would be real for anybody who has ever struggled to get ready for an imminent family visit or vacation, particularly on holidays.
10. The Ice Storm
Based on Rick Moody’s lauded 1994 book, director Ang Lee’s (Brokeback Mountain) masterful adaptation is a scathing depiction of the upper-middle-class suburban life of the early 1970s, where all the drug, drink, and sex experiments in the world couldn’t deter anybody from feeling like their lives and culture were undisturbed.
Like other dramas during Thanksgiving, the characters are not thankful enough (played with the flair of Sigourney Weaver, Kevin Kline, Joan Allen, Tobey Maguire, among others) are all stuck in the mental dark holes of their own making. Likewise, all the decadence and mad fashions/trends of the surreal decade cannot replace the sense that something has gone horribly wrong. Lee—before he becomes fascinated with the new camera technology—charts all of this with persistence, empathy, and accuracy.
11. Dutch
It’s surprising that more people don’t know Dutch, written by the comedy legend John Hughes and directed by the guy who did Crocodile Dundee. It may be that it was one of the few films that Ed O’Neill appeared in during his tenure as Al Bundy on Married With Children. Maybe it’s because the film turned into a grown-up guy and a snobby prep school boy, causing hi-jinx through the highways and byways of America.
Anyway, it’s a touching story about a blue collar man trying to impress his girlfriend by taking her son home for Thanksgiving. This slapstick comedy bombed at the box office, but it’s easy enough to watch for those looking for something simple, dirty, and important to their holiday festivities.
12. Addams Family Values
The 1991 revival of the ’60s TV series is a spooky classic, but this is the absolute highlight of the Family Franchise. To keep Wednesday and Pugsley in place, Morticia and Gomez employ a nanny (Joan Cusack at most withering her) who has a plot of her own and send them off to terrorize other teenagers in the summer camp.
While it’s not technically Turkey Day the dead-obsessed children have a chance to school their wealthy, sleep-away camp peers on the true history of Thanksgiving when they’re forced to play holiday sports. Very few Thanksgiving movies or holiday specials are as serious about the crimes committed against indigenous people in our world, but leave it to Christina Ricci to discuss them head-on in this offbeat family video.
Wednesday’s deadpan is cracking you on every line. Mixing Addams’ deadpan comedy with a biting satire about the state of contemporary Native American affairs, Wednesday’s speech and ensuing arson make Addams Family Values a Turkey Day must-see.
13. Planes, Trains & Automobiles
When does the top position ever go to someone else? John Hughes’ classic holiday travel story went wrong ranks pretty high on the list of the funniest movies of all time, so there’s no way it could be counted as anything other than the best Thanksgiving movie ever.
John Candy and Steve Martin are ideally cast as Del Griffith’s annoying shower curtain ring salesman and Nebbish, judgmental Neal Page, bouncing off each other with impeccable and impeccable comedic timing.
Packed to the brim with great characters, amusing set pieces, endlessly rated one-liners, and a heck of a lot of heart, Planes, Trains, and Automobiles is the ideal movie to sit around and laugh at your family after you stuff yourself with the heaviest food imaginable.
14. Mary Poppins Returns
The sequel to the legendary Disney movie was embraced by Mary Poppins’ new wave of fans as Mary Poppins Returns came to the theatres in 2018. Starring Emily Blunt as the famous nanny with a carpet bag, Mary Poppins Returns follows the children of Banks now all grown up and struggling with adult concerns of their own.
Who else will they rely on to set it up for rights other than Mary Poppins? Starring Lin-Manuel Miranda, Emily Mortimer, Ben Whishaw, and also featuring a guest appearance by none other than Dick Van Dyke, Mary Poppins Returns is equally fresh and nostalgic, and the new songs would get you singing in just the same way as their counterparts did and still do!
15. Fantastic Mr. Fox
There’s no talk of Thanksgiving in Wes Anderson’s Stop Motion masterpiece. Yet still, it’s hard to see The FantasticMr. Fox and not to dream of late autumn. Is this the carefully picked fall color palette that’s all sunsets and foliage? Is it the cozy family environment of the Foxes and their neighbors that makes you miss a major get-together?
Is this the impeccably clad cast of animal characters, all resplendent in corduroy, flannel, and tweed, silently shaming you with their flawless sartorial choices? Or maybe it’s just their ravenous feeding habits that place you in the right state of mind. With no similarity to the Roald Dahl novel, it is based on The Wonderful Mr. Fox is instead one of the most beautiful encapsulations of Anderson’s eye for (some may argue fascination with the little details. And it’s those little details, perhaps more than their fluffy animal characters, that make this perhaps the coziest effort of the director.

16. The Humans
The Humans, which was adapted from Stephen Karam’s Tony Award-winning play, centers on a family celebrating Thanksgiving in one of their worn flats. As the holiday goes on, the family begins to share their dreams and fears, as well as secrets they’ve been keeping from one another. It is such a beautiful movie. You will get emotional when you witness the family exchanging true feelings for each other.
Perhaps not everyone will enjoy this film, but it is fascinating to see what can be accomplished with a small budget and set. But it is a piece of work, and the acting and direction and excellent cinematography are something very different from conventional movies.
The music was created with such finesse and perfection that it practically passes for a separate narrative inside the film. It received mixed signals from the viewers and critics, so take all the recommendations with a pinch of salt. Just watch the movie to find out.
- Released in: 2021
- IMDB Score: 6.2
- Cast: Amy Schumer, Beanie Feldstein, Jayne Houdyshell

17. A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving
It’s difficult to tell if this Charlie Brown episode is a Christmas special or a Halloween special because both are endearing. For Thanksgiving, Peppermint Patty invites Marcie, the rest of the group, and herself to Charlie’s house, where they reflect on the meaning of Thanksgiving. There is a substantial supper served, but no parents are seen.
The festive magic, of course. It is a fantastic movie because it encourages you to recognize your blessings and teaches you to respect what has been provided to you. You should definitely watch this movie, especially if you have kids.
You all will love the movie. It has good animation, it is funny, and it also delivers a good message for the kids and family. It is a classic cartoon movie with your favorite childhood characters. Do you need any else reason? Totally recommended.

It came out in 2019 and is based on a novel, minds you. It is a very beautifully laid-out movie. In particular, if you want to get into a gracious frame of mind long after the rolls, cranberry sauce, and potatoes are put away, Greta Gerwig‘s superb Little Women adaption makes it the perfect choice for late-November watching.
All the talented performers in the movie deliver nuanced emotional performances, but Florence Pugh stands out as a standout. Expect to cry a little bit while watching this film. However, the tears are not artificially induced in the film; rather, they are true, natural emotions for actual life circumstances when crying is anticipated and normal.
Everyone should see and love this movie. In the end, it is a motivational, encouraging film, and it is a good movie to enjoy the movie with the whole family. The cast was great and did a great job of delivering the emotions that Greta wanted to show. I totally recommend it.

In the 2019 Netflix original film Holidate, which stars Emma Roberts and Luke Bracey, two strangers agree to be one another’s “Holidate” at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and basically any significant holiday event. Will the two, who initially just had a mutual contract in mind, eventually develop love feelings for one another? It is not as easy to guess.
The primary characters had fantastic chemistry, particularly Luke with his great Australian accent. Although it’s a seasonal film, it mostly focuses on Thanksgiving and Christmas. However, other holidays are also referenced. Now it all depends on what expectations you start this movie.
It is everything mentioned but does not expect anything else. It is a funny movie with a subtle relationship and a display of what causality can lead to, of course, on a positive note. All in all, you will definitely enjoy this movie. It has punches, and the story will keep you hooked.

20. What’s Cooking?
What’s Cooking? Came out in 2000, but the storytelling and the way it is put is delightful. The base movie revolves around three families, and each family celebrates the festival in their own distinct manner. The ideal film to watch on Thanksgiving is this one.
As the several dinners go on, all the dirty laundry eventually comes out, and people start stating what they truly believe. Families gather together, initially all hugs and kisses. It is the typical family secret plans that are left alone until the motives start to surface. It is very relatable nonetheless, and I am sure you, along with your family, will relate to What’s Cooking?
The cast full of beautiful ladies did a great job in delivering the emotions and representing the families, true to reality. You should definitely watch this movie with your whole family. It’ll make you laugh and enjoy the moments.

It is based on a real story. The Blind Slide was released in 2009 and followed homeless kid Micheal Oher as he attempted to join the NFL with the aid of his adoptive parents, Sean, played by Tim McGraw, and Leigh Anne Tuohy, played by Sandra Bullock. This film is fantastic. You don’t even need to be a fan of football or have any knowledge of it to enjoy it.
Sandra Bullock was outstanding in this, and she will get you to reflect on how lucky you are that you have a loving family that takes care of you. We often take things for granted. You could cry since it’s so warmhearted. The movie also deals with a number of issues that exist in real life, and I believe it does a great job of bringing such issues to the attention of viewers who were unaware of them.
It demonstrates the impact of racism on various groups of people worldwide. So if you love Sandra Bullock, then definitely check out this movie along with your family. A good tale to enjoy and value each other in their presence.

It is an old movie. It came out in 1997. You experience a variety of emotions while watching the movie. From the joyous occasions, such as the Sunday dinner with grandma, to the pain experienced when grandma is gone. Displeasure in the family members’ self-centeredness.
Because you can’t help but identify your own family members and even yourself in the family, it is relevant. The film causes you to consider the flaws in your own family, and that is saying something, given that it is a thanksgiving family movie.
It is a beautiful movie and shows a wide range of emotions by all the actors. You will love the setup and the amount of strength that the family shows in making the decisions.

27. The Scent of a Woman
Over the holiday break, a prep school student Charlie Simms played by Chris O’Donnell accepts to hang out with the blind Lieutenant Colonel Frank Slade, played beautifully by Al Pacino, in order to earn money for his flight home for Christmas.
If handled properly, the story of two lost souls who discover one other and aid each other while having similar communication problems with those around them may make for a fantastic film.
This movie does it well. The fellowship between a young and an old man is the subject of the tale. A young scholarship student cares for a blind war veteran in order to earn some additional money. As soon as Charlie meets the cranky man, he wants to quit his work, but he is too courteous to say no.
You will fall in love with Pachino again in the way he routes his character. The plot of the movie was also very beautifully thought out and represented, all credit to Martin. All in all, a good movie to watch on Thanksgiving.

28. Miracle on 34th Street
A man acting as Santa Claus at Macey’s claims to be the genuine one. A well-written narrative with some excellent performances, including Natalie Wood as the young Susan Walker and Edmund Gwenn as Kris Kringle. Ms. Wood was a kind young woman who was excellently placed in this role.
Throughout the movie, a few wooden phrases are spoken, but they are few and far between and do not significantly detract from the enjoyment. It is one of those movies that you should definitely watch on Christmas and on thanksgiving as well every year.
You will be made to believe that Santa is real. The acting in this movie was up to that mark. The whole family, along with the kids, will enjoy this movie, so just have a look at this movie once.

The film revolves around the discontent of a woman who is losing control of everyone and everything, including herself, while still trying to figure out what she really wants in life.
It displayed the suffering and despair of the alcoholic or addict who, unable to deal with the enormous issues, turns to their drink for comfort and ease, which only serves to further tear them apart. Brilliant acting by the cast, amazing direction, and screenplay. Totally recommended and a must-watch.

36. Strange World
This movie is absolutely lovely. Before the viewer realizes how intuitive it is, the first hour actually lives true to the title. Everything about it is incredibly well produced, including the animation and the idea. It keeps the country/old-world features of living while combining fantasy and science-fiction.
Everything about this movie was amazing—the characters, the environment, and the animation technique. A fantastic science-based action film! I find it disappointing that so many reviews were given with one star since there was representation for LGBTQ+ and other ethnicities! Disney deserves praise for demonstrating that there are others other than heterosexual white people on our planet.

37. Stuck in Love
Josh Boone, one of the best debut filmmakers, tells a straightforward tale in a fantastic way. The theme is love and familial ties, with writing serving as the background. The film contains many heartwarming and tear-shedding moments that are well worth seeing. Beautifully caught are the interactions between two sets of adolescent lovers as well as those between a mother and son and a mother and daughter.
Each of the key performers gives a superb performance. It wasn’t like the typical clichéd romance movies that are frequently seen, which I liked since it combined romance with realism. It was sincere and lovely, especially considering that the entire movie was filled with book excerpts. I adored that it was a family of authors because they describe their experiences so calmly. All in all a good movie to kill time.
- Released in: 2012
- IMDB Score: 7.2
- Cast: Jennifer Connelly, Greg Kinnear, Lily Collins

38. Ice Princess
In this coming-of-age tale, a physics geek finds success as a figure skater. The young adolescent female population is the intended audience for this film. Hayden Panettiere, Joan Cusack, and Kim Cattrall all provide excellent acting in this film. There are a couple of excellent moments for Michelle Trachtenberg’s primary character as well.
As the storyline diverged from what I had anticipated, there were some unexpected character moments in this film. The writing was good up until the third act, when all the characters decided they needed drama and were incredibly nasty.
Some of the videography did a poor job of concealing the stunt doubles. Everything was well put in the movie, from the direction to the performances of each actor. You will like the movie as a whole.
- Released in: 2005
- IMDB Score: 6
- Cast: Joan Cusack, Kim Cattrall, Michelle Trachtenberg

39. Someone Great
It is one of the few films that most accurately depicts female friendships. It’s hysterically funny and entertaining to see. A varied and really relatable cast! Most importantly, it demonstrates precisely how going through the feelings of a breakup feels, as well as how Jenny handles it and either goes on or, at the very least, anticipates her future.
I also appreciate the idea that Jenny, as a woman, chased her objectives and dream career rather than putting her skill on hold to remain in a relationship with a guy. Without a doubt, this movie is for the current generation. If you are someone who can relate to this, then you should definitely watch someone Great.
- Released in: 2019
- IMDB Score: 6.9
- Cast: Gina Rodriguez, Brittany Snow, DeWanda Wise

40. Shall We Dance
Shall We Dance came out in 2004, and it is a very fantastic feel-good film from beginning to end? Without giving anything away, the part where Richard’s kid screams out was a little disappointing, but everything else was extremely beautifully done, and it was a fantastic ending. My favorite scenes were the dancing in the department shop, the Dance with Richard and Jennifer in the studio, and the moment in the office where he tells everyone to screw themselves.
The cast was great and managed to uplift the movie with their performances. On the other hand, the plot of the movie and the setup were well-balanced with the fillers and satires. Should definitely go for it if you like to see Jennifer Lopez on-screen acting.
- Released in: 2004
- IMDB Score: 6.2
- Cast: Richard Gere, Jennifer Lopez, Susan Sarandon
- Directed By: Peter Chelsom

In the movie Couple, Steve Martin and Bonnie Hunt struggled to strike a balance between their burgeoning professional lives and raising twelve kids at home. Steve Martin contributes some funny material, and the young performers perform well. I laughed at a number of the jokes and scenarios, but I also cringed at others because of the awkwardness of the circumstances.
Setup scenes have no payoff due to editing mistakes or items left on the cutting room floor. When you send the children to the outside world, not exposing them to films like this and helping them comprehend circumstances other than their own, they will never become anything other than what you are.
This movie depicts experiences that every single man, woman, and child should be aware of. A hidden gem with a lot to offer for both parents and their kids, a perfect movie to watch with kids and the whole family on Thanksgiving.
- Released in: 2003
- IMDB Score: 5.9
- Cast: Steve Martin, Bonnie Hunt, Hilary Duff, and others

42. Beethoven
Beethoven came out in 1992, and this film has a fantastic cast and is adorable and moving. The intriguing thing is that you’ll hear several of Ludwig Van Beethoven’s compositions throughout the film; the only one I recognized was the opening scene when Emily is playing Beethoven’s Fifth on the piano.
There is excellent humor and decent acting. Although some of the scenes are somewhat cartoonish, of course, they are designed to amuse kids. I do suggest you have a look at his movie once. Despite its shortcomings, it’s a terrific family film since it’s amusing and has lovely pups all around, which will keep the kids engaged throughout the runtime.
- Released in: 1992

43. The Nightmare Before Christmas
It was the first fully stop-motion animated Disney film to be released in theaters, making it the most authentic example of both stop-motion Disney animation and stop-motion cinema. The concept of a narrative about a gang of frightening characters taking Christmas is quite intriguing, and Danny Elfman provided the perfect musical accompaniment.
The story is original and not excessively complex. In essence, it follows Jack Skellington, who is sort of the ruler of Halloween Town, as he becomes weary of Halloween and longs for a new holiday.
He ultimately discovers a door leading to Christmas Town, where he learns about Santa and the holiday customs, which he then tries to imitate in Halloween Town. Good animation with a captivating plot and characters. The kids in your house will love the movie, recommended.
- Released in: 1993
- IMDB Score: 7.9
- Cast: Danny Elfman, Chris Sarandon, Catherine O’Hara

One of the most admired films of all time, Jack and Jill made a significant contribution to filmmaking. You will be fascinated by this film’s astonishing portrayal of sibling rivalry and drawn into its universe from the beginning, all the while being astounded by its technical and narrative prowess.
The performances in the movie are remarkable since it has such a great group of talented performers, including Adam Sandler, Al Pacino, and others. You’ll like Adam Sandler’s character journey in this movie and his performance, which is one of the best in movie history.
Adam Sandler is, without a doubt, the show’s headliner; where do I begin? At first, I felt his performance in the movie Grown-Ups was outstanding and much overrated, but here he did what he does best to keep the audience occupied with his timing and delivery. A good movie to watch on Thanksgiving.
- Released in: 2011
- IMDB Score: 3.3
- Cast: Adam Sandler, Katie Holmes, Al Pacino

45. Midsommar
To fully appreciate this movie, it is highly advised that you take stimulants before watching it. The visual effects employed in this film genuinely bring the actions of the characters to life. Nothing on the screen seems out of place, and everything, including the paintings, walls, and trees, has a purpose and relates to the main narrative.
The magnificent natural terrain unspoiled by contemporary culture and the lovely vistas of vibrant, upbeat colors in this film give it an almost dreamlike sense of another universe. Everything was carefully considered for this film, from the actors to the setup, the plot, and individual buildups. It is a visual treat with a gut-wrenching display, and it is totally recommended. Just there is one friendly suggestion for you, do not watch this movie with kids around.

46. Tower Heist
Tower Heist came out in 2011, and surely it is underrated. If you like heist movies, then without a doubt, you should watch this once. Alan Alda, the ultimate Mr. Nice Guy, brilliantly portrays the Bernie Madoffsh bad guy in this ensemble comedy starring Ben Stiller. The trip is entertaining and has some good commentary about the honest, hard-working normal guy and the cunning, effete rich crook.
All the cast members, with Ben, did a good job in portraying the story and making the perfect balance with the writing and direction. Brett Ratner did a good job with the direction, and I am sure that this movie will keep you entertained all along. So it is a good thanksgiving flick you should watch with your family, especially your brothers.

- IMDB Score: 6.2
- Cast: Ben Stiller, Eddie Murphy, Casey Affleck

47. Sweet November
Sweet November came out in 2001, and it stars Charlize Theron and Keanu Reeves. Nelson, played by Keanu, is prosperous up until the point where he dumps his lover. Then he runs into this insane chick who starts pursuing him for an affair. He is smitten with her and desires to wed her.
He doesn’t know about her sickness, though. Nelson’s utter helplessness will win you over. Nelson served as Sarah’s pleasure object for a month while she dealt with her own personal issues, in my opinion. It’s a good movie with excellent performances and bland to best writing. All the fillers and actors managed to make it a fun experience that you will enjoy on Thanksgiving.
- Released in: 2001
- IMDB Score: 6.7
- Cast: Keanu Reeves, Charlize Theron, Jason Isaacs
- Directed By: Patt O’Connor

48. When Harry Met Sally
When Harry Met Sally came out in 1989, but it is still relevant today, it is truly a timeless movie. Nothing about it seems fake. Beyond the screen, it is obvious that these two like one other very much. If your heart isn’t built of stone, of course, you will quickly get connected amid the banter and humorous exchanges. It is a story about two friends who fall in love, but it deviates from cliched expectations.
After all these years, I still believe the camera work and the narrative are excellent in this film. Of course, like many romcoms that followed it, it is somewhat predictable, but overall I adore the ways the characters express their love through time and the circumstances around their meeting. A perfect movie to watch with your loved ones this Thanksgiving.
- Released in: 1989
- IMDB Score: 7.7
- Cast: Billy Crystal, Meg Ryan, Carrie Fisher
