Merle Dixon and Daryl are the fictional characters of the Television series “The Walking Dead.” It is an American post-apocalyptic horror drama based on the comic book of the same name, ‘The Walking Dead,’ that streamed on AMC in the United States. Frank Darabont created this TV series.
Its first episode was aired on AMC on October 31, 2010, in the U.S., and the final episode was on November 22, 2022.
When its first season debuted, the characters got negative reviews, but their fan appreciated although they loved the series, praised it, and gave positive responses. Later, its third season aired, and they got favorable reviews for both of the characters, especially Merle.

Who Is Merle Dixon and Daryl Dixon in ‘The Walking Dead’?
Merle Dixon’s role was portrayed by Michael Rooker, in order to prepare for this role, he lost a lot of weight. Rooker also earned The Satellite Award for Best Cast – Television Series in 2012.
In this first season, he was depicted as a Southern redneck hunter and an older brother of Daryl Dixon. They abide by their abusive father, as their mother died, so the older brother Meryl parented his younger brother Daryl in Juvenile detention.
As the story precedes and time passes, Meryl is recruited into the United States Marine Corps. Once, he was punched by one of the non-commissioned officers, so his five teeth came out, and he has shown his disfigured face in the entire series.
Later, the younger ones, Daryl and Shane, discovered that Merle had started dealing drugs and was known as a drug dealer in the city.

The Walking Dead Storyline
Its story begins with Police Officer Rick Grimes, who was admitted to the hospital and was in a coma because of his critical condition, but when he woke up. He found no one was there as he searched for a doctor or nurses in a hospital, but no one was there to be found at that time.
So, he tried to run away from an empty hospital where he found the walking dead who were chasing him to kill, but somehow, Rick managed to escape from there and reached a garden where he was shot by a normal man in a normal world as he seemed to be a zombie.
All the season of the TV series “The Walking Dead” shows how people manage to escape from a deadly disease to save their lives. The lurking danger of the disease reanimates the dead by transforming a normal person into a deadly walking dead, a zombie.
The point of this series is how people survive and struggle with the repercussions of a contagious and detrimental disease that makes the dead alive as ‘The Walking Dead.’

In what Episode Does Daryl Find Merle in “The Walking Dead”?
In season one, Episode one – Merle cut his hands off with a sharp crosscut hacksaw because he was the only one from his group of survivors, who were left on the roof and also handcuffed to a pipe in Atlanta.
The Handcuff keys are lost somewhere or may be dropped. The group and his brother Daryl ran away to save their lives when they saw the walker horde coming. But they forgot to open the handcuffed Meryl. Later, Daryl learned that his elder brother was nowhere to be found, so he insisted on going back and saving him.
Soon, they see that the danger is diminished, and they return to rescue Meryl and find no one, only a broken hand there. It seemed that Meryl cut his hand with a hacksaw to escape.

They predicted that he would die because of the wound. Daryl insisted, “Ain’t nobody who can kill Merle but Merle”. Episode two – Showed no sign of Merle in the entire episode, which forced them to assume that he would die from his wound.
In episode three: Titled “Walk With Me,” Meryl returns and appears with the same wound, proving that he has a deep wound. But this time, he had sported a new knife-hand apparatus and was recruited into the Governor’s army as a soldier. In episode 3, Meryl and Andrea met and reunited.
Merle was in Woodbury, and he was alive; there, he became a Governor’s important man, i.e., right-hand man. He was also equally desperate to find his brother Daryl since when he, along with a group, were separated.
As no one wanted him to be there and wished to put him behind bars, but because of his brother Daryl, they left him.
The fifteenth episode of the third season of the post-apocalyptic horror series, titled “The Sorrowful Life,” showed how Daryl’s elder brother Merle took all the allegations that were alleged to his brother into his own hand and was sentenced to death.
As Rick Grimes in this episode was not known, the fact that The Governor is planning to kill every man and woman who comes in midway to deliver Michonne, whether they are or not a part of it but should be killed.
To protect Daryl, Merle took this case in his hand and was killed by them. On the other hand, the crowd was cheering for his death.
During the shootout, Woodbury Soldiers brought serene Daryl and captivated him that time; the Dixon brother Merle and Daryl reunites after a wait of a long time, i.e., after one year.
When Daryl found his brother Merle, it became the most sensational and heartbreaking scene ever as he saw Merle when finally reunited with him after 1 year – Merle transformed into a zombie and eating human brawn. Michael Rooker as Merle and Norman Reedus as Daryl was praised and got positive views on their super-duper hit performance in episode 15. This episode was one of the most watched episodes of this series and got 10.69 million viewers.

Merle Dies At The End
The main character Merle has died in the show as he was the first original main character who died. Secondly, his friend named Beth Greene died, and they both were close friends also. Daryl was also a close associate of Beth Greenes. When Daryl knew about their deaths, he felt deep sorrow, which affected him intensely.
