The TWICE members have just gotten back to South Korea after their most anticipated US tour. Starting their idol journey through the 2015 survival show ‘SIXTEEN’ TWICE has now become one of the highest-selling k-pop groups. Consisting of nine members, TWICE is made up of Jihyo, Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu. Making their debut on October 20, 2015, with their EP ‘The Story Begins’. While the debut was enough to make themselves known locally, TWICE actually came to recognition with their 2016 singe ‘Cheer Up’.
Topping charts all over South Korea and winning ‘Song of The Year’, TWICE members went on to give hits after hits. By 2017, the girls also entered the western charts like Billboards. By 2020, with the sales of over 10 million albums, TWICE became the highest-selling K-Pop girl group in South Korea and Japan. Looking at the success TWICE has in the west, the girls have now also partnered with Republic Records. With all the girls coming from different backgrounds, together they are making a legacy in the world of k-pop.

Jhiyo
Hailing from Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, Park Ji Hyo is popular among her fans with her stage name Jihyo. Being a 97-liner, Jihyo’s birthday is on February 1. As a member of TWICE, Jihyo serves as the leader and main vocalist of the group. With her striking beauty, she also made it to ‘TC Candler The most beautiful faces of 2020’ list. The idol has been in the k-pop world since her pre-teen years. After winning 2nd place in a contest on Junior Naver for a child role, Jihyo went on to become an idol trainee at JYP Entertainment in July 2005. She went on to train for over 10 years, making her the member who trained for the longest period.
Before joining SIXTEEN as a contestant, Jihyo was all set to make her debut with fellow members with Nayeon, Sana, and Jeongyeon, a member of 6MIX. But the plan fell through. With the formation of TWICE, the other girls went on to vote for Jihyo for the leader position. Managing her position the perfect way, Jihyo has come a long way along with the girl group. Along with topping music charts, Jihyo has also been the face of the skincare brand ‘The Body Shop’.

Nayeon
Hailing from Seoul i.e. the capital city, Im Na Yeon is popular among her fans with her stage name Nayeon. Being a 95-liner, Nayeon’s birthday is on September 22. As a member of TWICE, Nayeon is in the center of the group. She serves as the lead vocalist, lead dancer, and face of the group. Dreaming of becoming a model, Nayeon won a modeling competition and was even accepted by an agency. But her mother went on to refuse the offer as the idol was way too young. But in 2010, Nayeon went on to secretly audition at JYP Entertainment’s open audition.
Making the cut, Nayeon was accepted and went on to train for five years at the agency. Before her debut, she also starred in music videos for other idols like San E’s “Please Don’t Go”, GOT7’s “Girls Girls Girls”, Jun.K’s “No Love” (Japanese), miss A’s “Only You”, and Jun.K “Your Wedding”. As her debut with 6MIX fell through, she went on to compete on SIXTEEN. With her rising popularity and the stage presence, she also went on to host the Idol Star Athletics Championship 2018 Chunseok Special. As of 2022, Nayeon embarked on a new journey as she was announced as the new ambassador for the luxury brand Louis Vuitton.

Jeongyeon
Hailing from Suwon, South Korea, Yoo Kyung Wan is popular with her stage name Jeongyeon. Being a 96-liner, Jeongyeon’s birthday is on November 1. As a member of TWICE, Jeongyeon serves as the lead vocalist of the group. The idol comes from a family of talented people as she is the daughter of a well-known Korean traditional chef Yoo Chang Joon. While her older sister Gong Seung Yeon is an actress. It wasn’t a smooth ride for the idol before she made her debut. Dreaming of becoming a k-pop idol, Jeongyeong went on to audition for JYP Entertainment but the idol was rejected.
In 2010, the idol came back once again to audition and this time she cleared not on JYP Entertainment but SM Entertainment too. Joining JYPE, Jeongyeon trained for five years and was a part of 6MIX, but their debut fell through. Almost giving up on her dream of becoming an idol, she left the company but a call from JYP saved her. Competing in SIXTEEN, she made it to the final lineup for TWICE. Becoming one of the most popular idols comes was hard on Jeongyeon as the idol was diagnosed with psychological anxiety and had to skip activities. Despite the hard times, Jeongyeon has been working hard after she bounced back to the stage.

Momo
Hailing from Kyoto, Japan, Hirai Momo is popular among her fans with her stage name Momo. Being a 96-liner, Momo’s birthday is on November 9. As a member of TWICE, Momo serves as the main dancer, sub vocalist, and sub rapper of the group. She has been dancing since the age of 3. Before becoming an idol trainee at JYP Entertainment, Momo and her sister Hana had auditioned to be a member of a Japanese girl group for Superstar K3. Spotted by JYP Entertainment, she was asked to audition and ended up making the cut.
Before competing on SIXTEEN, Momo was rumored to be in a JYP’s Japanese group. She also made cameos in JYPE’s artists’ Japanese music videos like GOT7’s “Stop Stop It” MV, Junho’s “Feel”, miss A’s “Only You”, and Wooyoung’s “Rose”, Heechul’s and Min Kyung Hoon’s “Sweet Dream” MV. Coming on SIXTEEN, Momo was the third contestant to be eliminated but before leaving she left a mark on the judges as she ended up in TWICE’s final lineup. Only improving, she’s now the best dancer in the girl group.

Sana
Hailing from Osaka, Japan, Minatozaki Sana is popular among her fans with her stage name Sana. She’s the second Japanese member in TWICE. Being a 96-liner, Sana’s birthday is on December 29. As a member of TWICE, Sana serves as the sub-vocalist of the group. She has always had an optimistic personality. The idol has been dancing ever since she was in middle school. She even attended EXILE Dance Academy as she dreamt of becoming a performing artist. In 2012 while out shopping along with her friends, Sana was spotted by a casting agent who asked her to audition.
Passing the JYP Global Audition, she went on to join the agency and trained for three years. While her mom wasn’t so sure about sending her to a new country as a teenager, eventually she saw the passion Sana had. She also became part of the girl group 6MIX but had to give up when the debut plans fell through. Competing on SIXTEEN and making it to TWICE, Sana has now become one of the most loved k-pop idols. Before her debut, she also starred in music videos for fellow JYP idols like GOT7’s “A”, and the Japanese versions for Junho’s “Feel”, and Junho‘s “Candy”.

Mina
Hailing from Texas, United States, Myoui Mina is popular with her stage name Mina. She’s the third Japanese member of TWICE. Being a 97-liner, Mina’s birthday is on March 24. As a member of TWICE, Mina serves as the main dancer and sub-vocalist of the girl group. The idol is the daughter of Akira Myoui, a renowned clinical professor at Osaka University Hospital. Dreaming of becoming an artist, Mina learned Ballet for over 11 years. But slowly her interest deviated to k-pop during middle school. She enrolled in the k-pop dance school called URIZIP to practice more.
Out shopping with her mother, Mina was spotted by a JYP casting agent who asked her to audition in Japan. Clearing the audition, Mina moved to South Korea in 2014 as an idol trainee. After 16 months of training, Mina went on to compete in the survival show SIXTEEN. Making it to the final lineup of TIWCE, the idol has now become one of the most popular idols. In 2019, the idol also gave up her American citizenship. Recently Mina also became the face of the luxury brand Meterocity.

Dahyun
Hailing from Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, Kim Da Hyun is popular among her fans with her stage name Dahyun. Being a 98-liner, Dahyun’s birthday is on May 28. As a member of TWICE, Dahyun serves as the lead rapper and sub-vocalist of the girl group. The idol has been an active stage performer ever since she was young. The idol was spotted by a JYP agent during her solo performance at a youth dance festival that she had choreographed herself. Accepting the offer, Dahyun went on to train for three years and four months.
During her time as a trainee, she also appeared in music videos like GOT7’s “Stop Stop It” and 2 PM’s Wooyoung’s R.O.S.E. Appearing on the survival show SIXTEEN, she received a lot of attention for bringing back her infamous ‘eagle dance’. While her skills still needed to be polished, her charisma and stage presence couldn’t be ignored by the judges. Making it to the final lineup for TWICE, Dahyun went on to make her debut. Chaeyoung
Hailing from Seoul, Son Chae Young is popular among her fans with her stage name Chaeyoung. Being a 99-liner, Chaeyoung’s birthday is on April 23. As a member of TWICE, Chaeyoung serves as the main rapper and sub-vocalist of the girl group. Dreaming of becoming an idol, Chaeyoung has always put herself out there ever since she was young. Along with starting her sixth grade, the idol also enrolled herself in dance class. In 2012, she went on to audition for JYP Entertainment and passed the audition.
She went on to train for three years and five months. After making cameos in GOT7’s Stop Stop It music video, she went on to compete on SIXTEEN. Tzuyu
Hailing from Tainan, Taiwan, Chou Tzuyu is popular with her stage name Tzuyu. Being a 99-liner, Tzuyu’s birthday is on June 14. As a member of TWICE, Tzuyu serves as the lead dancer, visual, and sub vocalist of the group. Her charming visuals have kept her in the Top 5 in the ‘Most Beautiful Faces’ list ever since the girl group went global. Standing at the height of 5ft 7inches, she is also the tallest member in TWICE. The idol is one of the rich kids as she comes from a business family. Her parents own a chain of dermatology clinics, while her mother alone owns 2 coffee shops in Southern Taiwan. Before becoming an idol trainee, she had no idea if she wanted to become one.
It all started when Tzuyu’s performance video from Tainan’s MUSE Performing Art Workshop got viral on the internet. Spotted by a JYP agent, the idol got the offer to become an idol trainee in JYP Entertainment when she was 14 years old. Soon after her training began, Tzuyu went on to compete in the survival show SIXTEEN. Becoming the most popular contestant on the show, Tzuyu became part of TWICE as the maknae of the group. With time, she has made progress and has become one of the most loved idols in the k-pop scene. Currently, Tzuyu is the face of Tomaru Cosmetics.
