My Name(2021)
‘My Name‘ stars Han So-Hee, Park Hee-Soon, Ahn Bo-Hyun, Kim Sang-Ho, Lee Hak-Ju, and Jang Yull and centers on Yoon Ji-Woo, who on her birthday, witnesses her father’s horrifying murder. Obsessed with a vengeance, she sets out to find his killer.
A strong criminal leader offers Ji-Woo assistance and subsequently advises her to join the police department. Following that, Ji-Woo contends with a series of dangerous encounters and revelations.
Distinctly similar to how desperate family members want to avenge their loved ones, the 6-episode Netflix original my name follows the story of a young girl, yoon ji woo, whose father is murdered before her eyes.
In this drama, a young woman called Jwoo sees her father, Donghoon, brutally killed outside of their apartment by being shot at point-blank range. Jiwoo is still searching for information since there are allegations that the police are involved, and Captain Cha has conducted a late-night investigation to support that assertion.
These answers appear to come from Mujin, a friend and coworker of Donghoon. Mujin heads a criminal empire, with Donghoon on the list of Most Wanted across Korea. So, Mujin takes Jiwoo under his wing and trains her to be tough enough to hit back against those responsible for killing her dad.
My Name has a lot of advantages if you can get past some of the plot flaws and enjoy the performances and action. It’s perhaps not as good as Netflix’s other recent original K-dramas. Even so, it fits very well with the “very good but with a few flaws” classification and results in a gripping and exciting vengeance thriller.
D.P. (2021)
The Dog’s Day by Kim Web toon’s D.P. served as the inspiration for the successful South Korean television series directed by Han Jun-hee and written by Kim Bo-tong. It stars Jung Hae-in, Koo Kyo-hwan, Kim Sung-Kyun & Son Suk-ku. Like Bloodhounds, this series is also based on a webtoon.
This military base series has shown that politics occurs in every field, like teasing, abusing, dominating, and biased world. A must-watch adventurous series gives you horrifying as well as authentic experiences. The discrimination between the fittest and the weakest can be seen most optimally.
When A Joo-Hoo gets transferred to a deserted pursuit team and works with sergeant park Beom-Goo and Corporal Han Ho-Yeol (Koo Gyo-Hwan) to investigate with their keen sight, meanwhile, First Lieutenant Im Ji-Seob (Son Seok-Koo), who only craves success, doesn’t care about the D.P. team.
The show emphasizes how unwanted the military is, particularly in the setting of South Korea. Bullying and hazing are rampant, and there is a pervasive belief in “survival of the fittest,” with those considered to be “weakest” being pushed to the bottom of the heap and subjected to horrible treatment at the hands of their superiors and fellow citizens.
The miniseries emphasizes the unfavorable characteristics of South Korean military enlistments as well as the pre-existing hazing and bullying at the military base camps. For you, D.P. is the best option. The series (thus the title) centers on a determined soldier serving in the Korean military who is assigned to the army’s Deserter Pursuit unit.
It’s humorous, dark, and action-packed, exploring crime and corruption within the Korean military. Koo Gyo-Hwan’s comedic timing is on par with Lee Sang-Yi’s, while Jung Hae-In plays the character of the devout and law-abiding Gun-Woo, played by Woo Do-Hwan.
Extracurricular (2020)
Kim Jin-min’s Extracurricular, a South Korean series, was the 9th most-watched series on Netflix. Released on 29th April 2020 stunts the audience with the story and magnifies student life. Starring Kim Dong-hee, Park Ju-hyun, Jung-Da bin, Nam Yoon-su, Choi Min-soo, Park Hyuk- Kwon & Kim Yeo-jin gives an impeccable performance while the ending is not as rewarding as it should be.
A ninth-grade topper student (O Jii-So) who was abandoned by his parents and his homeroom teacher Mr. Cho who also secretly works at an illegal prostitution business known as ‘Uncle’ with the help of Lee Wang- Chul.
One of his classmates, Seo Min-hee, is an unknown worker about ‘uncle’. During the study project for the social issues research club with Bae Gyu-ri, whom he used to like and thus asked Mr. Li to take the day off—knowing that she would be in danger.
Although actor Kim Dong-Hee may have the appearance of a little child, his performance in this part changes the game and establishes him as a bright newbie. Extracurriculars are definitely not for the weak-hearted, so tread slowly.
Choi Jisoo and Bae Gyuri, two high school students, are also depicted in Extracurriculars as they make decisions that have “spiraling down the rabbit hole” consequences. Jisoo had been a model Highschool student who rose from a terrible background, including his dead-beat father and barely any financial stability. Gyuri, on the other hand, was the daughter of a CEO of an entertainment company. The show incorporates multiple people from different age groups but mainly surrounds Jisoo and his “business.”

Taxi Driver (2021)
The Korean criminal drama TV show Taxi Driver, which Park Joon-woo is directing, features Lee Je-hoon, Esom, Kim Eui-sung, Pho Ye-jin, and other cast members. As a Special Forces officer, Do Gi has lived a more sincere life than anybody else. However, he lives in torment after his mother is killed by a serial murderer. Do Gi, who feels misled and hurt, meets Jang Sung Chul, who recruits Do Gi to work for Rainbow Taxi.
Rainbow Taxi is a covert group that exacts revenge on victims that the law failed to protect, far from being an ordinary taxi service. Do Gi excels as a driver in this situation and exacts satisfying retribution. Ha Na is a prosecutor who is looking into Rainbow Taxi in the meanwhile.
She is outraged by their disregard for the law, but she also finds it perplexing that they are able to resolve issues that the law cannot. Do Gi investigates the meaning of justice in the conflict between those who regard seeking vengeance as justice and those who pursue criminals.
Whatever the case, the Korean crime series has stolen people’s hearts, and there are no two ways about it. The series is gripping, thought-provoking, and very poignant. The conflict between morality, justice, and fairness is a recurring issue in the show. It depends on what side of the situation you’re in. There’s some shocking gore in the series that is not usually found in Korean dramas. As mentioned, this isn’t a new show, but it presents itself with its best foot forward.
The Glory (2022)
In “The Glory,” a homeroom teacher begins an act of retribution against the bullies at her high school that she has been plotting for more than ten years. The journey of Moon Dong-eun (Song Hye-ko), who sets out to get revenge on the bullies who tormented her in high school, is followed in this Netflix K-drama.
The second installment of the 16-episode series just came out, and it is an exciting and fast-paced trip with an ending that will leave you reeling for days. The show promises catharsis rather than realism and delivers in spades.
Dong-Eun dedicates her teenage years to her career as a teacher and finally joins the private school as Ye-sol’s homeroom instructor. The Glory is excellent, but the latter episodes feel hurried, and the uncertain conclusion will leave you wanting more. Ahn Gil-ho, the director of The Glory, was recently at the center of a debate over claims that he had been the victim of bullying while attending an international school in the Philippines.
The Uncanny Counter (2020)
The Uncanny Counter is a cleverly written, action-packed Korean drama from the OCN cinematic network, with lots of fighting, demon hunting, and strong characters. Based on the Daum Webtoon, ‘Amazing Rumor’ by Jang-yi is the South Korean series released on November 28, 2020, on Netflix. It became the highest-rated Ocean series, and the second part is yet to be released on 29th July 2023.
The demon hunters’ group of four people, named ‘Counters’, search for the evil spirits that escape from the afterlife to gain immortality. This action-packed voyage of combating murderous ghosts reveals the unsightly reality behind a significant rebuilding project.
The Counters wear tracksuits, just as in Squid Game, and there is action, romance, tragedy, and great humor in The Uncanny Counter. Not in that weird blue-green color, but sporty red, where they train and occasionally hunt demons.
After being judged in Yung, the area between the afterlife and the living, they hunt for devils in contemporary Korea and send them back to hell. After getting a big break in the Uncanny Counter, the show’s star was falsely accused of school violence and bullying. Jo Byeong-kyu is now able to focus on his work after finally putting these charges behind him.

Black Knight (2023)
This K-drama series is a must-watch based on science fiction and dystopian stories. This South Korean series grabs all the attention for its excellent storyline and outstanding performances. The six episodes are thrilling series Starring Woo-bin, Song Seung-Heon, Kang Yoo-seok & Esom, released on Netflix on 12th May 2023.
It shows how the world survives in the toxic air when people are not leaving their houses and depend entirely on delivery drivers for their needs in 2071. The delivery drivers who also protect them from thieves are known as knights. The ending leaves a good impact on the audience.
This series has eye-catching attire, tough-looking vehicles, cutting-edge visual effects, and a strong cast that includes Kim Woo-bin, Song Seung-Heon, Kang You-seok, and Esom. If you are curious about a survivalist genre with a subtle and fashionable twist, then be sure to check out Black Knight.
Black Knight, with its spectacular visuals and well-executed action scenes, is hardly a slow-paced introduction to this post-apocalyptic version of Seoul, even though it may take a few episodes to fully develop its setting.

Duty after school(2023)
Due to its intriguing plot and superb performance, the survival K-drama Duty After School continues to generate attention among K-drama viewers. The survival K-drama follows a group of high school students who are required to undergo military training in order to boost their college entrance test scores and repel alien invasions.
Called the ‘reserve force,’ the students eventually enter an unending battle to save themselves and their friends. South Korea’s competitive education system has affected all children’s lives. It made them competitive while also dishing out a heavy sense of failure if any students failed to attend a good college.
Studying nonstop for more than 18 hours at a time was all they did while in school, leaving little time for leisure activities or sleep. They had after-school obligations, and here is where Young-Soo’s anxieties started. He did not have the means to afford it after school, so he had been entirely dependent on the points.
Seeing her lose consciousness due to his actions made him lose his sanity, and somehow, he thought it was okay to assault her sexually.
Almost at the end of “Duty After School,” Chi-Yeol was shown walking to his class to take the CSAT exam after two years. The government had developed weapons to eradicate 99% of the spheres successfully.
Chi-Yeol was made to believe that if it had been that simple, they could have prevented handing the students firearms. It all looked unreal since everything quickly went back to normal, and there didn’t seem to be any expression of sorrow for the lost pupils. The fact that some spheres were still in the sky and the students who lost their life never came back was the only thing keeping it from all feeling like a nightmare.
Vagabond(2019)
This romantic series directed by Yoo In-Sik is an action series starring Suzy & Lee Seung-gi. This romantic series grabs the average attention with the not-so-popular story and a sad conclusion. In a mysterious plane crash, Dal Gun loses his nephew’s life. As he singles-handily raises him in the place of his brother, who passed away, he discovers the ugly truth behind the plane crash, and his journey begins.
A daughter of a marine who died during an operation always wanted to be a civil servant and ended up as a NIS agent. Both intervene and come across the web of corruption behind the accident. An explosive episode marks Vagabond’s final appearance, and the entire hour is filled with intense tension.
This time, the pace is also masterfully done, with some wonderful juxtaposed images of the Blue House serving as a metaphorical deep breath before the action picks back up. As we approach the back end of this K-drama, who knows what will happen next, but given what we’ve seen so far, don’t count against this one ending with one almighty bang.

Eve (2022)
The 2022 K-drama follows the revenge story involving a woman named Lee La-el, who lost her father as a young girl. Knowing that many influential people were responsible for his death, La-el plots her revenge over the next 13 years with the help of Seo Eun-Pyeong.
Seo Eun-Pyeong was an orphan who witnessed the death of La-el’s father and pledged his allegiance to her by growing up to become a person of power by joining the National Assembly. Together, Eun-Pyeong and La-el aim for Kang Yoon-Kyum, the CEO of LY Group and the main suspect in La-el’s father’s murder.
Unfortunately, Eve makes a number of mistakes, including dubious story beats, weak lead chemistry, a lackluster romance, and a plot that loses steam and finally plunges off a cliff.
However, the acting is less impressive, with Yoon-Kyum almost expressing boredom while on-screen.I won’t be too harsh on him because that may be the direction of his character, but everyone else in the film is at best decent, with the exception of So-Ra, who manages to walk a fine line between theatrical and overacting.
In the end, Eve is just another K-drama that starts off strong and then fizzles out. Although there is amusement to be found here, it is submerged in a sea of mediocrity that is hard to navigate. Compared to other revenge thrillers, this is not one to write home about and ultimately struggles to stand out.
