Under The Banner Of Heaven Season 1 Episode 4 Recap
Under The Banner Of Heaven Season 1 Episode 4 opens up with Pyre and Taba entering the Lows resident. They realize no one’s home. Searching the place leads them to the letter written by Diana to Prophet Kimball. The letter reads Diana asking for help due to the questionable behavior of the Lafferty brothers.
The original letter made its way into the hands of LaConte Bascom. Pyre later met Bascom to hear from him about the letter and also about Ron. The conversation saw Pyre come to the conclusion that Dan threatened Ron’s livelihood. So Ron was only angry with Dan.
Pyre later went to interrogate Robin, and he came to reveal that the anti-laws mentioned in the letter originated from Dan. He was popular and was running for sheriff. Dan believed in the teachings of heaven and wanted to go against Federal laws. Thus he also hoped to reinstate the practice of Polygamy as well.

Despite going behind bars for breaking a traffic law, Dan passed on his teachings to his brothers as well. Still, all this information didn’t make any sense as Dan didn’t have anything up against Brenda or Erica that may suggest he wanted to kill him.
This was all until two boys came to claim that they saw a car near the low residence. They were freaked out a little and believed there were people with long hair sitting in the back. Just sitting, not even talking to each other.
The car belonged to Ron. Now somewhere, the Detectives began to suspect that Ron might be involved in these murders. After learning from Robin that Dan had managed to turn around Ron’s beliefs, who initially adhered to federal laws, Detectives came to believe that there is a chance Ron might have killed Brenda. Especially with the fact that she helped Diana write a letter that may go up against the teachings they were following.
Under The Banner Of Heaven Season 1 Episode 4 Review
Under The Banner Of Heaven Season 1 Episode 4 saw the show diving deep into presenting the ways of life Dan believed in. The investigation in some scenes takes a little backseat as we get to learn more about Dan as a person. It seems like Wyatt Russell is pretty good at making viewers hate his character.
Anyway, initially, the Pyre and Taba suspected Dan to be the one behind all these murders. But they were not able to figure out the motive behind the murders. So diving deep and getting to know him was something they needed to do it.
Watching Dan and Ron’s story unfold saw the show losing pace a little. The Episode moves pretty slowly compared to the first three episodes. The immense focus on the backstories of these characters may lead the viewers to lose interest a little. They may end up yawning for most of the part of the Episode. Still, learning about Dan and Ron was worth every minute as we got to know how deeply they were into the heavenly laws.
The turning point only comes at the end. The time when the Detectives start believing that Ron might actually be attracted to Dan’s beliefs. The upcoming Episode may see the Detectives chasing Ron as they try to puzzle pieces together on whether Ron is really responsible for these murders or not.
