“It’s Not a Shooter”: Blood of Dawnwalker Director Says 120 FPS Isn’t Necessary, But Promises More Performance Improvements

The Blood of Dawnwalker director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz has addressed player concerns about the game’s PC performance, saying that while 120 FPS is not essential for the single-player RPG, Rebel Wolves will continue working on optimization.

Speaking to Eurogamer, Tomaszkiewicz explained that the studio is monitoring reports from players across different PC configurations and working on further improvements. He acknowledged that some players are unhappy when the game runs at 70 or 90 FPS instead of reaching 120 FPS, but argued that extremely high frame rates are less important for Dawnwalker than they are for competitive games.

“It’s not a shooter – it’s not a game where it’s so important.”

However, Tomaszkiewicz also stressed that the studio understands players want strong performance and will continue addressing the game’s technical issues.

Blood of Dawnwalker’s Performance Will Keep Improving

The director attributed some of the PC optimization challenges to the huge number of possible hardware configurations. Rebel Wolves is collecting hardware information from players to identify problems and develop further fixes.

The upcoming major update, currently planned for early October, will address more than performance. It will introduce a new easier difficulty designed for players who want to focus primarily on the story, while combat targeting will also receive adjustments.

The update will additionally make escaping combat smoother by reducing situations where players become stuck on environmental geometry. Rebel Wolves is also considering New Game Plus, although the feature has not been confirmed for the upcoming patch.

For players concerned about performance, the developer’s comments indicate that 120 FPS is not a specific target, but optimization work is far from finished. The early-October update should provide another important test of how much The Blood of Dawnwalker can improve after launch.
