Captain America New World Order is on its way to establishing a new order in phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
San Diego Comic-Con has always been quite an eventful affair known for disclosing new Marvel announcements. This time around as well, the MCU has laid the path for the upcoming future of this alternate superhero dimension that first uplifted the souls of comic buffs back in 2008 with Iron Man leading the new venture.
The soon-to-commence fifth phase of the beloved franchise marks the return of some old favorites and some new turns in the dark, reviving the Marvel cinematic brand as we know it.
Titles like Avengers: Secret Wars, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, Daredevil: Born Again, Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, Blade, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and many more graced the roadmap of a new marvelous era.
Captain America New World Order is just one of these pitstops along the way. Interestingly enough, the title of this comeback is a stark reminder of the first episode of the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which carried the same name as this project hinted to be released in 2024.

Captain America New World Order Cast
It’s too early to come to any conclusions regarding who all are going to come back for the fourth installment of the Captain America series. Chris Evans already hung up his shield when it comes to playing the role of Steve Rogers. We saw him pass on that mantle to Anthony Mackie‘s Sam Wilson in Avengers: End Game.
It goes without questioning that Mackie is reprising his well-earned new role as the titular character but other roles haven’t been set in stone as of now. It’ll all come down to what storyline they pick up for this movie that will narrow down the list of possible presences.
When is Captain America New World Order Releasing?
Earlier this month, The Hollywood Reporter released the statement that Julius Onah would be directing Captain America New World Order. Moreover, on July 23, 2022, the San Diego Comic-Con revealed other crucial details like the title of the upcoming film and its release date as May 3, 2024.
Kevin Feige will be helming his duties as the ever-present producer of all MCU gigs, while the showrunner of the Disney+ show, Malcolm Spellman will be joining Mackie again to pen the story ahead.
Which Storyline Will be Carried Forward by the Movie?
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was released on March 19, 2021, on Disney+ and portrayed Wilson’s anxieties about carrying forward the heavy baggage that comes along with the title and duties of Captain America. Sam is well aware of the gravity of the situation and states that the “legacy of that shield is … complicated, to say the least“.
Phase 5 will soon feature the cinematic sequel to the TV series, withholding the same title as the pilot episode of the TV show. Speculations are quick to follow in such situations and the same has entailed the announcement of these movie titles at Comic-Con 2022. “New World Order” as suggested in the film’s headlining name also shares its roots with an old adversary of Captain America – the Red Skull.
The comics speak of the New World Order in light of it being an organization headed by the infamous villain. However, as mentioned earlier, not much has been unveiled for us to hold on to. Red Skull’s last outing was witnessed in Avengers: Infinity War when we saw him at Vormir’s cliff, all cloaked and frail.
Sam Wilson and the Red Skull have never had a head-on interaction with each other before in the MCU. On top of that leading Rogers’ legacy with him gone has already hung heavy on Wilson’s shoulders as seen in the 2021 TV series. Facing off against the Red Skull would again lead him back to square one – fighting off not only the bad guys but also the expectations that trail behind Captain America’s Vibranium shield.
Marvel’s Thunderbolts is meant to wrap up the fifth phase of the MCU. Although the name resounds in the MCU hall for the first time, some of the members of this antihero squad have already been firmly established in previous projects. Leading this indomitable force would be Baron Zemo, aka Citizen V. His presence could also be teased in the fourth installment of the Captain America series, as it was in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier as well.
There are a lot of strings that can be played with. All will be revealed in due time. Till then, we have a lot of bridges to burn. Gear up for some grave action sequences in Captain America New World Order
