Fans love to watch the wild and crazy experiences of the fishermen and sailors risking their lives at sea. After several spin-off series, a new show enters the room. The new documentary show Deadliest Catch: The Viking Returns that aired on the 13th of September is the newest spin-off of the show, Deadliest Catch. The show includes one of the most popular stars of the original show.
In this fresh spin-off series, the focus has been shifted to Sig Hansen and Mandy Pederson, captains of the Fishing Vessel Northwestern, along with Jake Anderson. Jake is Sig’s former right-hand man. Hansen, one of the most important people in the show, comes from a long line of anglers. Obviously, he is now following his family’s legacy with his own daughter, Mandy, who had often stepped in to take over his job when he had to step away.
But this show is filled with more surprises and challenges and takes place in Norway, which is Hansen’s homeland. He has mentioned in the trailer that this isn’t about money for him. Rather it’s about family. Seeing how his dad began here, in Norway, he believes that this opportunity could open a whole new future for his family and the next generation. He also opened up in the trailer and said that he hopes his father is proud of him.
Hence, Hansen, with his family members’ support and help, aims to forge a fishing empire so big that it will surpass both their and their ancestors’ previous attempts. It might be a huge goal, but since they are all seasoned sailors and fishers, it’s something that we believe they will be able to achieve despite the difficulties.

Deadliest Catch: The Viking Returns: Sig Hansen & His Team
Sig Hansen, in an interview, said that his greatest challenge was being out of his comfort zone. Since he knew the area and geography of the Bering Sea well, it was easy for him to work there. However, fishing in Norway was a bit challenging because it was uncharted waters for him.
Though, his thoughts on uncharted waters didn’t dim his excitement to be back in Norway anyway. He had already fished in Norway back when he was a teenager, so he is looking forward to returning back to his homeland. Additionally, Mandy is also a new mom, but there’s nothing to worry about.
Her daughter, Sailor, will be in good hands when she is off to work. Mandy’s mom will be taking care of Sailor. Apart from them, Sig and Mandy will also be joined by Mandy’s husband, Clark. Clark is a crab fisherman, and he is all set to join her on this new journey.
