After a great debut season, Spectrum Original series Joe Picket embarks on a sophomore season full-steam ahead. And we decided to brief you on the Joe Pickett Season 2 release date. Moreover, we will expand a little bit on this original series chronicling the characters developed by novelist C.J. Box. Now, with an initial run of twelve episodes of about forty minutes of runtime, the series managed to position itself as a solid neo-western.
After a renewal confirmation leaked to the press and got bounced around all over, we can affirm that Joe Pickett will return to the streaming platform Spectrum on Demand. The series fronted by Michael Dorman will have another run, and we will see more of the game ranger from Wyoming, his family, and his ordeals as he moves on putting things together for the territories he must guard and his life. Now, without further ado, let’s take a look at this series.
What Is Joe Pickett About?
The story follows a rookie game warden and his family as they relocate to an idyllic rural hamlet in Wyoming’s Rockies. Their fantasy becomes a nightmare when Joe discovers a murder victim in his backyard, putting his family in the crosshairs of a deadly scheme. Joe and his lawyer wife, Marybeth, must traverse a complicated web of plans, secrets, and conspiracy among the breathtaking landscapes of Wyoming’s enormous wilderness.
Joe Pickett Season 2 Possible Plotlines
The second season has two plot threads, one regarding Joe and the other with his wife, Marybeth. After discovering a dead hunter mockingly hanged up and field-dressed as an elk, Joe is stunned. He comes to the frightening idea that someone in Saddlestring is hunting hunters for sport. Meanwhile, Marybeth conducts her investigation after a young Arapaho lady named Marissa Left Hand mysteriously vanishes.
Thompson will play Joe’s new sidekick Luke Brueggeman, a Game and Fish trainee with a big mouth and a good heart. He also dislikes horses, and, according to the description, he utilizes an “unconventional approach” to round up intoxicated Elk. Guynn reprises her role as Joe’s adopted daughter April Keeley, Rook the inept Deputy McLanahan, and Dosani as Cricket, a quirky deputy who has a crush on a fugitive.
Joe Pickett Trailer:
Joe Pickett Season 1 Challenges
The debut season introduces us to Joe Pickett, a game and wildlife ranger out in the sticks of Wyoming. We saw how his life is and how crazy it can get for a ranger. Moreover, we also saw how a show of these characteristics can be set up against the backdrop of competing giants of modern westerns like Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone universe, which expands forwards and backward into time with its spinoffs. Now, for a show like Joe Pickett, it needs further character development and deeper intricate plotlines to survive a second season.
Sure enough, we saw how unsettling things could get when a murder victim popped up at the Pickett doorstep and the ensuing conspiracy in a seemingly quiet town. Michael Dorman does one hell of a job portraying that character, and he has a great cast to work with. Moreover, the vast story expanse that the series writer C.J. Box and John Erick Dowdle, and Drew Dowdle have to work with gives Joe Pickett a wide playing field. As stated earlier, they must find the right tone to compete with a rival series like Yellowstone. Can they do it? We’ll have to wait and see!

Joe Pickett Debut Season Review
Joe Pickett’s first season has concluded, and we will have to wait for an announcement on a second season. So far, after hearing that Spectrum renewed the show, it was a great surprise! The finale experienced some of the same problems as the previous episodes, including specific sequences that were overly dark. We wish the show had gone into more detail about certain characters and what happened to them. We don’t recall anything about the Scarlett family getting into problems or going to jail.
According to Barnum, the truck was destroyed, the VIN was taken, and no one arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound. Aside from that, we have no idea what transpired. We’ll also have to infer that Vern perished due to his gunshot wound because he wasn’t mentioned again. Aside from that, we wish some of the episodes were shorter. Regardless, the conclusion and Joe Pickett were enjoyable to witness.
If a few things were changed here and there, the second season could easily outperform the first. The first one wasn’t too horrible. For me, the season’s high points were the flashbacks, learning about Joe’s childhood, and watching how he overcame these obstacles. If there is a season two, we’d like to see Joe interact with animals and non-criminals more frequently.
Not everyone in the program has to be an intelligent criminal. And if you read any of C.J. Box’s novels on Joe Pickett, you’ll notice that Pickett often finds himself walking into trouble too, plus, the ever-changing expanse of the socio-political landscape that the Dowdles want to give the show to compete with rival series like Yellowstone has to give it an intense hook.
Cast
Guynn portrays April Keeley, a shy, sensitive, and considerate foster daughter who was abandoned by her mother when her father was killed in Season one. Rook, who also appeared in Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, plays Officer McLanahan, a bumbling sheriff’s deputy with a massive ego who enjoys slamming Joe. Cricket, a quirky, underdog sheriff’s deputy who falls for a fugitive from the law, is played by Dosani, who previously starred in The CW’s Nancy Drew.
Juliana Guill as Marybeth Pickett, Skywalker Hughes as Sheridan Pickett, Kamryn Pliva as Lucy Pickett, Mustafa Speaks as Nate Romanowski, and Sharon Lawrence as Missy Vankeuren round out the cast. Patrick Gallagher, Alex Breaux, Sean Wei Mah, John Ralston, Cheryl De Luca, Chris Gauthier, Emily Alabi, T’áncháy Redvers, and Aaron Dean Eisenberg return for season two.
