With the release of the show, fans are already wondering about how many seasons will House of The Dragon have. Right now, it has been renewed for a second installment by HBO but that is not all. We are currently seeing the first season of the series unfold as the characters who will play right through the various seasons will fit in. It should also be known to all the fans that George R. R. Martin is yet to release the second volume of the book, Fire and Blood on which this prequel show of Game of Thrones is based on.
As HBO aired its most recent 4th episode of the first season of House of the Dragon, there is already a craze over its future and how will the further installments shape up. This series has all of its focus on the Targaryen dynasty in its full glory back in the past. It is set almost 200 years, 172 to be specific, before the birth of Daenerys Targaryen, the rightful heir to the Iron Throne.
With the commencement of the 4th episode, we see that Allicent and Rhaenyra, who bother were both kids when it all started, are finally starting to understand how to play the “game of thrones”. Princess Rhaenyra, the firstborn child of King Viserys has been named the heir to the throne and now everyone wants her just for her title. As per the various predictions based on the new trailer released for episode 5, we can expect that King Viserys is to die really soon.
And along with that, a huge war will start. All these small battles and fights will happen in the entire series until a huge battle. It is called The Dance of the Dragons and will see Princess Rhaenyra having a clash with the ones who deny her rule. Also, episode 5 will mark the end of young Rhaenyra and Allicent as both of their characters will be changed with the sixth episode. Well, coming back to the future of the series, here is what we can expect from the show and its next installments.
How Many Seasons Will House of the Dragon Have?
House of the Dragon is expected to have three or four seasons. This information was revealed by Miguel Sapochnik as well as Ryan Condal, the showrunners of this famous HBO series. The crew has already determined how long they aim to carry on with the series. As per their speculation, the story lasts long for about three to four seasons.
After that, there is another approach was also talked about by the showrunners. With the end of this conflict within the House Targaryen, the show might become an anthology prequel series. It may start focusing on the various moments in the history of House Targaryen. These might include some of the highlights from the house such as the Aegon’s Conquest.
House of The Dragon Further Spinoff or Sequels
It might also include the time when the Targaryens decided to travel across the narrow sea and towards Westeros in order to make it their home and how they defeated the Seven Kingdoms and brought it under their rule. Now, if the author George R. R. Martin is to release the second volume of the book that he promised after he releases the sixth volume of A Song of Ice and Fire (for heaven’s sake), we can expect the story to expand even more.
Well, the idea of House of the Dragon becoming an anthology series in particular as it jumps throughout the various timelines, might become a bit difficult for the fans to keep up and especially the new fans who started watching House of the Dragon right now because of its fame and popularity. There are speculations of another spinoff that may focus on the various events of Westerosi history.
