The sweet feel-good Hallmark movie starring Alison Sweeney and Marc Blucas made for TV was first aired in 2016. It is based on the adaptation of the novel “The Irresistible Blueberry Bookshop & Café” by Mary Simses. The story follows that of Ellen Branford, a lawyer working in New York who seems to have a pretty good life. She has a perfect on-paper boyfriend who has just asked her to marry him.
Before she could answer him, she received a letter left for her from her late grandmother. The letter asks Ellen to travel to Beacon in Maine and hand deliver a letter to Chet Cumberfield. Thus, Ellen ends up going on an adventure that will change her life.
Ellen has a whole adventure in front of her as she tries to find Chet’s address. Fans fell in love with the story’s gentle pacing, the main characters’ amazing chemistry, and the delightful and wholesome script. Viewers found the air of mystery surrounding Ruth, Ellen’s late grandmother, interesting and the journey of the main character discovering herself poignant.
The movie is another badge of success for the director Kristoffer Tabori and has become the favorite of many Hallmark household collections. The Irresistible Blueberry Farm Filming Locations are mostly in Canada. It began in Vancouver, Canada, on 24 July 2016, with Geoff Dood as the location manager.

The Irresistible Blueberry Farm Filming Locations
The filming took place from 24 July 2016 to 14 August 2016. The author of the novel the film is based on, Mary Simses, attended the first two days of the filming on the set. She recorded her experiences with the delightful & talented cast on her website in great detail. The film was released on 30 September 2016. The film was aired on the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Channel.
Brackendale & Vancouver
The author, Mary Simses, revealed on her website that the filming began with a “pretty yellow house” in Brackendale, a town near Vancouver. The filmmakers chose this setting and house for the main character’s grandmother, Ruth’s house in Beacon. Ruth spent her childhood growing up in this house. This house was the shooting location for the scenes from the attic with Susan Porter as well as that of Ruth’s ghost, played by Shirley Jones.
The second location near here was the quaint Breakfast & Bed where Ellen stayed when she first came to Beacon. For this location, they chose The Victory Inn. This is also the filming location in The Irresistible Blueberry Farm, where Ellen’s mother Cynthia surprises her.
Gibsons, British Columbia
The filmmakers chose the small coastal town Gibsons in British Columbia to be Beacon in Maine from the book. Since most of the film’s shooting was done here, it is easy to identify these locations. A brown houseboat with white trim was used as the filming location for Roy, the male lead’s house in the movie. This is also where Ellen would read her late grandmother’s letter out to Roy. They also shot a few scenes using the pier.
One specific location that even IMDB took note of was Molly’s Reach, 647 School Road, Gibsons, British Columbia. This is a small restaurant that usually serves burgers and milkshakes. In the film, this is the restaurant at the end of the street in Beacon. It is interesting to note that this little restaurant has made an appearance in Charlie St. Cloud, Needful Things, and a series, “The Beachcombers”.
Sunshine Coast
A few users started an online discussion on the Sunshine Beach Facebook Page about why this beach looked so familiar. The filmmakers also chose this place, particularly because it had the look and feel of a small marine town. This beach has made several appearances in Hallmark movies as a substitute for New England.
The Irresistible Blueberry Farm: Where To Watch
The film received generally good reviews and good praise. Fans enjoyed the chemistry and the acting of the main actors. Fans of the novel “The Irresistible Blueberry Bookshop & Café” by Mary Simses found the movie to be loyal to the story, except for some great additions like Ruth’s ghost. Viewers enjoyed the pleasant pacing and the feel-good story, which gave them a good reminder to slow down a little in life.
