The Game Devil is a Shounen manga based on a video game that has adventure, action, and fantasy themes. It could have been classified as isekai, but it’s not because the main character is not summoned anywhere; instead, the characters from the game are summoned to the real world. Now, who is going to be the hero that will protect the world? Let’s find out.
Roku Tadano, the male lead and a 21-year-old assistant manga artist, works extremely hard. Although he is far too young to discuss such matters, the struggle for an artist to break into the manga industry is real. He had a friend named Sugosugi from 14 years ago who was fragile and sensitive and was frequently bullied.
At that point, Roku was the one who protected him. He gave him a lesson in good and evil and gave him the assurance that he would always be protected by the hero. However, Sugosugi was the first person to ever refer to Roku as a “hero,” and ever since. He has always remembered that word.
The “Black Knight” from The Game Devil, who always talks about one statement: “With faith in my sword, I shall triumph,” is the only protagonist in Roku’s life. For Roku, that line applies to his pen, which is just as potent as his sword as he continues to draw and make ends meet.
Later, he ran across Mamane, a classmate from high school who had always admired his drawings. She was searching for a job at the Faculty of Science. She told him that the Game Devil could lure players. Millions of people watched a live stream of a well-known gamer who vanished, and that was where it all began.
People initially believed it to be a publicity stunt, but since then, there have been several other disappearances of a similar nature, and each one has been found in that game. The Game Devil has been fought by 100 million players, but none of them have ever succeeded in killing him. Since Mamane was taking an internship at The Game Devil’s game studio, she was aware of everything.
His sensei Masuda-san ordered Roku to create something along the likes of a rom-com or some pretty girl material, but instead, he only drew one character, the “Black Knight,” who will serve as the protagonist of his story and his only sword as the protector. He wanted to tell his own story, not someone else’s, through art.
The Game Devil’s developer and Roku’s childhood friend, Osamu Sugosugi, came up with the idea for the game a few years ago. It was Roku’s original idea from his manga; he created the characters, the story, and everything else, and now he has announced that the game will receive a new update.
The narrative began with that update when the monsters from The Game Devil came to life and attacked the people with real-world abilities, intelligence, and health percentages. And if anyone is attacked by the monster, they will become pixelated and die. However, his sword, his hero, appeared as a savior, lending his power to protect the world.
The Game Devil Chapter 11 Recap: Spoilers
The title of this chapter is “Hero,” which is what Roku’s childhood friend Sugosugi used to call him. Roku asked Sugosugi what made him a hero because he sucked at fighting and couldn’t help much, even if he wanted to.
Sugosugi, on the other hand, has always been his hero, saving him with his manga. So now Roku wants to keep drawing more even when he grows up; his only wish is to publish his own manga and not the stories of others but his own.
So, it is a continuation of the previous chapter. Ven was fighting the boss and managed to deal 70% damage, but it wasn’t enough, and now he couldn’t use the firepower. Here comes Roku, who wants to give him a hand and use him for combat.
They need to get it past the ghost swarm, and the skull face still has 50,000 health. The ghost needs to be distracted, so Emimi, the buff dancer who could also deal with the scythe, steps in to provide that distraction. If Roku could deal 9999 damage with his sword of darkness, they might win.
Roku arrived with his sword of darkness, but he got attacked, and now he could only deliver one last strike. Here, he came to the realization that he never wanted to be a hero; all he wanted was to make Sugosugi happy, and he blamed Sugosugi for bringing him into this world. He has a lot of unfinished business and goals to accomplish, so he doesn’t want to die yet.
