Pocketpair Lead Says Palworld 1.1 Will Add a Fan-Requested Feature Players Have Been “Screaming” For After 1.0’s “Soft Prologue”

John Buckley confirms Pocketpair is preparing a major player-requested feature for Palworld Update 1.1, while explaining why the studio is taking a different approach after the game’s 1.0 launch.

Palworld is not finished yet. Pocketpair is already preparing Update 1.1, and although the upcoming patch will not match the scale of the game’s 1.0 launch, the studio is teasing a feature that has been heavily requested by players.

Speaking with GamesRadar+ at Gamescom 2026, Pocketpair publishing and communications lead John “Bucky” Buckley explained that the team’s development approach has changed significantly following Palworld 1.0. He also confirmed that the game’s first full release was viewed internally as more of a starting point than an ending.

Palworld 1.1 will introduce a long-requested feature

Buckley said that Palworld 1.0 effectively served as a “soft prologue” for the larger story. According to him, players reached the World Tree, discovered what was waiting there, and eventually found themselves back on the beach, setting the stage for what comes next.

“You figured out what the tree was, and it crashed, and you landed on the beach,”

Buckley told GamesRadar+.

“Now let’s show you what happens next.”

That next phase will begin with Update 1.1. While Pocketpair is not planning another year-long development cycle for the patch or a massive expansion featuring an entirely new continent, Buckley confirmed that the update contains a substantial feature that players have repeatedly requested.

“It’s not a huge thing, but we’re doing something players have been screaming at us to do for a while,”

Buckley said in the interview.

Pocketpair previously clarified that suggestions such as new continents, increased level caps, and other enormous additions were beyond the intended scope of 1.1. Instead, the studio appears to be focusing on a specific feature that could address a longstanding community demand without delaying other development priorities.

Buckley explained that Pocketpair deliberately avoided adding the feature to 1.0 because the team already had too many priorities competing for development time. Now that the full launch is out, the studio has more freedom to experiment with ideas that were not necessarily part of its original vision for Palworld.

The game continues to receive regular updates based on player feedback, with Pocketpair’s official site describing Palworld as a survival experience built around capturing, training, building and automating alongside Pals.
