We have the latest Overwatch 2 Updates for you! And today, we’re diving deep into Blizzard’s latest multiplayer player vs. player shooter. Firstly, this closed-season beta is coming along nicely, and the reception and reviews for the game are very good. Secondly, the next closed beta for Overwatch 2 is right around the corner. So, let’s take a look at what this title has to offer.
Blizzard dropped a half-an-hour video that we’ll unpack for you on the latest updates for the game. Furthermore, the video is packed with great cinematics, dialogue from the developers, and insight into the new Overwatch era coming our way. So, without further ado, let’s look at what Blizzard prepared for us.
Overwatch 2 Updates: A Deep Dive
First things first, the new Overwatch will be free to play! That’s right. The game will be a free-to-play live service for years. The live service will make the game available so everyone can play together. Secondly, the PVP mechanics were imagined for a 5V5 with reengineered heroes, more maps on top of the ones we already had from the previous Overwatch, new game modes, and more surprises.
Third, the developers plan on rolling out seasonal updates every nine weeks, so we don’t get bored with playing the same thing repeatedly. Furthermore, you can play the game and progress seamlessly across multiple game platforms. So, it doesn’t matter if you start playing on your PC and then move on to your console. Overwatch 2 will be right there where you left off! Lastly, PvE experiences will let you play, push the story of each character and experience unique gameplay and style.
A Roadmap: Heroes, Maps, Skins, Battle Pass, etc.
After the game launch, packed with three new heroes, six maps, over 30 skins, a battle pass, mythic skins, and game modes, the seasonal method will begin. And exactly nine weeks after the second season will roll out, giving us a new Tank hero to play with, along with a new map, more skins, another battle pass, another mythic skin, and more. And that same mechanic will repeat for 2023 with more heroes, maps, and so on!

What Will The Battle Pass Encompass?
Along with the seasonal format, there will be a battle pass system. The developers would not say what to expect from the battle pass, what exclusives fans can expect, or how much it will cost, but they did say that more information would be released as the launch date approaches. Along with the battle pass and the ability to pay a premium for exclusive content, one of the most significant pieces of OW2 news is eliminating loot boxes.
The developers will add a storefront in the December update, presumably so that fans can directly pay for desired skins rather than relying on luck with a loot box. The developers did not say how much skins would cost or what would happen to all of the in-game currency that had been banked, but they did tell us to expect an update later.
Loot Boxes Are Gone
As stated earlier, the Battle Pass will change each season, this means more money for Blizzard, and thus, the loot box is no longer necessary, as, with each battle pass, you will have new skins, cosmetics, and more stuff to customize your character.

Overwatch 2 second beta will release on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at 11:00 hrs, Pacific Time, The United States. Furthermore, the beta will run until July 18, 2022. You can play on Rio, the new map, and your hero will be Junker Queen.
Overwatch 2 Release Date
The official release date for Overwatch 2 will be October 4, 2022. The game will be available on the Nintendo Switch, PC, Xbox Series S|X, Xbox One, PlayStation 5 & 4.
