The fourth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is just dawning. And with it comes new content to Disney+. As such, let us do the Ms. Marvel Episode 2 Recap. This new phase of the MCU is the most experimental and audacious so far. With mixed results, the web series territory has a lot to give us.
We’ve seen some web series like Falcon and The Winter Soldier, What If?, Loki and Hawkeye. Moreover, more recently, Marvel Studios gave us Moonknight. Now, it’s the turn for this Gen-Z superhero and her adventures in a new setting. So, without further ado, let’s explore the second installment of Ms. Marvel.
Ms. Marvel Episode 2 Recap
This episode has a few things to unpack. So let’s start. Kamala Khan gained her superpowers and has more confidence in herself. Moreover, she has a new love interest. And that was just episode one! But in episode two, we see her learn a few more tricks. Firstly, her superpowers are named “hard light” because they project light that crystallizes. Kudos to Disney for the music choice in the sequence where Kamala explores her new powers.
Zoe announces that she will be throwing a party to honor human life’s fragility. Kamala initially states that she has no intention of attending. However, when Zoe invites Kamran, Kamala retracts her statement and confirms that she will attend Zoe’s party. Nakia is aware of the situation, but Bruno is entirely unaware that Kamala has a crush on Kamran. But, as promised, Kamala demonstrates the full extent of her abilities to Bruno, who missed everything she did at AvengerCon. While doing so, they both realize Kamala isn’t very good at controlling her powers. As a result, they decide to work on it together, resulting in a hilarious workout montage set to Krewella, NERVO, and Raja Kumari’s “Goddess.”
Bruno Takes Notice
Bruno notices that the energy beams, platforms, and blasts aren’t coming from the bangle while testing the source of Kamala’s abilities. It’s coming from Kamala herself. The bangle is said to have only served to unlock Kamala’s superhuman abilities. Kamala considers whether or not she is related to Thor. Bruno makes another observation about the bangle. It has inscriptions on it, he notices. It’s either Arabic or Urdu, according to Kamala.
At the same time, testing abilities may be entertaining, but reality sets in, and we see Kamala and Nakia rushing to the local mosque because they are late for their prayers. They clean up, put their shoes on the rack, and go to the lecture. And they’ve noticed how Muslim women are treated horribly while Muslim men are treated like royalty.
Religion
After being reprimanded by the lecturer for interrupting him during his lecture, Kamala encourages Nakia to run for the Mosque Board and make a real difference. Nakia rejects the proposal. However, after her shoes are stolen (her Versace shoes, to be precise), Nakia suggests that a woman should lead the Mosque Board. Because that is the only way women will be treated better there because their uncles are unconcerned about their problems, they remember that Uncle Rasheed, hugely popular, is also running for the position. Nakia has no chance of beating him. Because she is the change, Kamala proudly claims that Rasheed has nothing on Nakia. Kamala is named Nakia’s campaign manager.
Household Woes
Tensions in the Khan household are still high at home. Kamala attempts to repair her relationship with her mother (Zenobia Shroff) by apologizing for sneaking out. Muneeba acknowledges that Kamala is maturing, but all she wants is for her to be safe. And Kamala believes now is the best time to ask Muneeba for permission to attend Zoe’s party. Kamala claims that Bruno and Nakia will accompany her and that she will return by 9:00 p.m.
Muneeba agrees to let her party and instructs her to enter through the front door this time. But, seconds after arriving, Kamala inadvertently consumes alcohol and ogles Kamran as he emerges from the pool to the tune of Tesher’s “Jalebi Baby.” They introduce themselves and are immediately forced to flee because the cops are raiding Zoe’s house.
Continuing the Ms. Marvel Episode 2 Recap, While eluding the cops in Kamran’s car, we notice that Bruno is envious of Kamala’s crush on Kamran and does everything he can to sabotage it. Kamran and Kamala, on the other hand, continue to bond over Swet Shop Boys, Shah Rukh Khan, and the fact that they both failed their driver’s test. Kamala and Kamran exchange numbers at the end of the journey, and Kamran invites Kamala to go for drives whenever she wants.
Nakia appears to be ecstatic for her, whereas Bruno seems to be disappointed. Kamala breaks out in a hilariously adorable, albeit imaginary, dance sequence to The Ronettes’ “Be My Baby,” which turns into a small animated series of Kamran and Kamala floating around with sloths after returning home.
