George Miller’s Mad Max prequel Furiosa just began photography. The anticipated prequel to the 2015 science-adventure film Mad Max: Fury Road is a spin-off. As such, a new saga will commence in the long-running Mad Max saga that started way back when Mel Gibson was the star.
For this movie, Imperator Furiosa will be the star. If you remember Mad Max: Fury Road, starring Tom Hardy and Academy Award-winner Charlize Theron, this movie will give us background on her story. Moreover, the film will star Chris Hemsworth and Anya Taylor-Joy from Netflix’s The Queen’s Gambit.
Mad Max Prequel Begins Filming
Actor Chris Hemsworth (from Marvel’s Thor: Love and Thunder) shared on social media that Furiosa began shooting. While we don’t know the details of the plot yet, the cast and crew are out in the sticks in the Australian desert doing the work for this awaited film, with Covid in the rear mirror and studios now in full motion. So, it’s only a matter of time before the crew finishes the photography and the movie enters post-production.

So far, we have a limited cast list with Anya Taylor-Joy —The Queen’s Gambit— Chris Hemsworth with a confirmed part where he will play the antagonist in this story, and Tom Burke (you may remember him from the 2020 film Mank).
