Another South Korean reality series out to get the most talented eight members for a new girl group released recently in November 2023. The show, much like a lot of other competition shows, is being aired to form a brand-new K-pop group under F&F Entertainment.
Created by SBS, this girl group will have a starting contract of two years and six months, after which the group’s fate will depend on the higher-ups in the company and their popularity among fans. The company that has set out on this talent hunt is related to a clothing brand of the same name, F&F.
The show has been under development since the start of this year, with applicants from all over applying for the show from March all the way to mid-May. In the middle of July, fans met with the final eighty-two contestants who will be on the show through their official public profiles released by the program.
The producers of the show have confirmed former members of the groups I.O.I and Gugudan, Kim Sejeong, Girl’s Generation‘s Hyoyeon, two members of the popular group Itzy‘s Yeji and Chaeryoung, along with soloists Younha and Adora, to be on the show as mentors.
The show is SBS’s first-ever survival show, which may be why it has not really managed to get the rightful attention from fans. The first episode of this competition was dropped on November 18th, 2023, and viewers were left surprised by how pleasant most of the contestants were.
While it is too early to judge, considering there must be many who did not even get the proper screen time, you can read all about the concept of the show and its upcoming episodes so that you do not miss out on any updates and are caught up with the series fully.
The Plot
This hot survival show has brought together from all over the world a total of eighty-two participants, out of which a mere eight will get to debut as a global project girl group, finally getting to fulfill their dreams of becoming a K-pop idol, sharing the same stage as their idols.
Not lagging behind and keeping up with the advanced technology, this eight-member group will not just perform on global stages for fans but will be actively involved in activities in the metaverse. Girls between the ages of ten and nineteen years were called for auditions for the show at the start of the year, though this age requirement was replaced with girls born before 2011.
The first episode opened with a narration introducing us to the concept of the show and taking us to the contestants. They are told that their pre-voting results, done based on their released profiles, were out, and according to the results, each of eighty-two members was given a rank.
The first forty-one participants were given an advantage over the other forty-one, where each from the first group could decide who they wanted to compete with for the 1:1 battle from the other group. The winners of this 1:1 battle would also be given a different advantage for the battle week performance later.
