Lily Collins got to live the dream life of all of the girlies, and we are not complaining at all. American romantic-comedy series titled Emily in Paris managed to leave a strong impression on all of those who wish to just move to a romantic city and live their happy life there.
Created by Darren Star, the show has been airing on Netflix since its first season, taking us all away from reality into an almost perfect dreamland. Lily Collins, in the lead role of Emily Cooper, who strangely dreams of being a marketing executive, gets shifted to Paris, France, by the company where she works to give out an American’s view of a French firm.
Apart from Lily Collins in the title role, the series has also cast Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Ashley Park, Lucas Bravo, Samuel Arnold, William Abadie, Camille Razat, and so many others who make up for the amazing cast of the show.
The show introduced Emily Cooper as a young American woman with a Master’s in communications. She works at a firm that tasks her with the job of moving to Paris, a task that may have come right out of her dreams.
She has one job to do while in France, to not let go of her American way of thinking and to bring her social media presence to help out a France-based firm.
While it may sound dreamy to us, Emily struggles to not only adjust to her new life in Paris but also find a balance between her old life and the new one she is just about to begin. The show, when it was first released, very quickly became the new ‘it’ thing and had everyone raving about how good it was.
Let us tell you more about the total number of seasons in the show and if they are worth your time or not.
How Many Seasons Are There In Emily In Paris?
The show has a total of three seasons which have been aired, done, and dusted and are available on Netflix for fans to stream. Though, the makers have also confirmed that the show had actually gotten the green signal for a third and a fourth season in early 2022.
Considering the fact that season three of this pleasing series has come to an end, fans have now moved on to eagerly waiting for the fourth season of the series, which will surely release sometime in the future.
While most of us enjoyed watching Emily struggle in her daily life, yet still somehow manage to come on top of her game, there were many others who did not like the way the pretty people of Paris were portrayed.
Such criticisms mostly came from France, and rightfully so, as many from the French audience of the show thought that show seemed to have done almost no research, and all it did was reinforce the negative stereotypes about the French People, widely known to the world.
Having said that, there are surely other parts of the show like its grand cinematography, the great job done by the stylists of the cast members, the fact that they milked their time in France to make sure they got their budget’s worth, and the overall soft vibe of the series that make the show a cozy watch.
Is It Worth Watching?
It is a treat to the eyes watching Emily strut around in Paris, living such a pastel-colored life that makes you long for winter so that you can also dress in your coziest sweaters and walk around the town with a hot cup of coffee in your hand.
We have to remind you that the show is a piece of art only because of its background locations, the outfits, the fact that it is shot in France, and because we know that no matter what happens, Emily will get back on her feet stronger than ever.
The show is not revolutionary when it comes to its dialogues or even the plot. Take Paris out of the picture, and put Emily back in any American corporate office building, and you will have a mediocre show ready on the platter.
Honestly, if you watch the show closely, you will realize that Emily is not that nice of a person and that she has selfish tendencies that make her a hateful person. We feel that the show and her life stopped making sense somewhere around the end of the first season or the start of the second one.
The show has most definitely lost sense of what they want to do with Emily and her life, which is ridiculously grandiose and perfectly airbrushed, which to be honest, the fact that it is depicted as being so perfect just takes away from the relatability factor.
If you were hoping to watch the show for its plot and complex characters, then we recommend you drop it because all you will catch the show doing is entering a spiral of chaos and confusion, but if you were hoping to watch the show to turn off your brain, or solely for aesthetic purposes, or for Emily’s impeccable fashion sense and fairytale life, then go all for it.
