Previously in Ghosts (2021) Season 1, Samantha met Stephanie, a mean girl from the 80s who was killed on her prom night by a chainsaw killer. She wakes up from her sleep only once a year. Stephanie was unlike any of the other ghosts. She was quite mean and didn’t like how highly ghosts spoke of Samantha. Especially when she made them do things. So she decided to continue being mean to her.
The Ghosts had learned how to use Alexa, thanks to Alberta, whose voice is the only one Alexa recognizes. So Stephanie decided, with the help of Alexa, they could organize a prom night. But she kept the party only for the ghosts with no living allowed.
Samantha wasn’t feeling good as she was not invited. She once had a very bad prom as well. Samantha’s friends made fun of her by creating a fake account of a french boy with whom she texted for months. On Prom night, they made her wait for him to arrive from abroad, only to drive by and throw baguettes at her.

After hearing her story, Pete tried to pitch in for her so that she could have a prom night. He only told the story to Stephanie hoping she will change her mind. But instead, she came up with a plan and convinced the other Ghosts to join. The prank to present Samantha with baguettes really broke her down.
When Ghosts realized their mistake, they felt bad. This saw them apologizing to Samantha and wanting to take revenge on Stephanie. But Samantha wasn’t the kind of girl who would ruin the chance of another girl who could finally have the prom night she wanted.
So instead of taking revenge, she organized the prom night for Stephanie herself, even though she outshined everyone with her dress by the end of the episode. The next day Stephanie went back to sleep for another year.
