Jay Carson’s much-loved drama comedy starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, “The Morning Show,” will be returning with another exciting season soon. Now that Apple TV+ will possibly be renewing the show for another two seasons, its plot is going to be much more intense, with a new romance ready to happen in the upcoming season.
Airing on television since November 1st, 2019, The Morning Show is a tragic comedy kind of series that focuses on the inner workings of a daily broadcast program. As pleasant and welcoming the faces may appear on their morning broadcasts, these hosts often have a lot going on in their lives that they wouldn’t want to risk letting the world know. Alex Levy and Bradley are two such hosts that end up having to broadcast the Morning Show together but have tons of other problems to deal with besides the show.
The Morning Show has been inspired by the book by Brian Stelter, which focuses solely on everyone working in a morning series. The first season ended up attracting many viewers, making the show a huge success. Apple TV has since renewed the show each year, with news of two more future installments being in the making.
The story of this drama began with Alex Levy finding out that her on-screen husband/ Co-host, Mitch Kessler, has been accused of sexual misconduct by several women. Although she had an idea about it, she didn’t know the severity of Mitch’s situation and soon tried to get herself away from the problem so that she wasn’t caught up in the scandal too. Despite trying so hard, she finds herself being the epicenter of whatever goes on in The Morning Show. Bradley Jackson is another journalist who rises to fame through a TikTok and eventually ends up joining Levy’s show.
The duo can successfully manage the daily broadcast, but both Alex and Bradley go through dramatic and impactful events that end up changing their lives forever. With the second season showing the return of Alex in UBA, The next season is going to be even more exciting with news that Jon Hamm will be joining the show in the role of Paul Marks, a potential love interest for one of our Morning show hosts.
The Morning Show: Season 2’s Recap
In the previous season of The Morning Show that was aired on September 17th, 2021, we see Alex and Bradley no longer being in touch with each other. Their exposé had caused UBO irreversible damage, and they had no choice but to fire Cory. Alex had left The Morning Show, too and moved to Maine to live a much more peaceful life. Bradley stays at UBA and hosts the daily show with a new partner named Eric. They look good together, but the ratings of The Morning Show eventually drop to low levels.
Seeing the show not perform well due to her causes Bradley to ask Cory to let her be in the evening show instead. Cory, however, feels that she has to stay on the current series, and he lets her know that he has a plan in mind to get the ratings back up. He travels to where Alex lives, where he pleads with her to join The Morning Show. Alex didn’t see herself ever returning but still felt the need to be a host deep down in her heart. She works on a memoir and meets up with a psychic that guides her to join the show back.
The city celebrates NYE, and as the countdown goes on, Alex calls Cory to let him know that she is willing to work again. Cory is glad to hear this, but their momentary happiness is shattered when he reads a news sign saying Hannah’s family is filing a lawsuit against his company. Cory later hosts a dinner party for Alex and Bradley, where they talk about the virus from Wuhan. When Cory meets Hannah’s family, he immediately recognizes the amount of money they were suing for, as it was the exact amount they paid Fred to leave UBA.
The Democratic Presidential debate arrives, and everyone tries to get their hands on it. Cory refuses to hire both Alex and Bradley as two straight white women won’t come off as diverse in the debate broadcast. This causes Laura to convince Bradley to reveal her sexuality, as it would give her a better chance at getting the debate, but she refuses to label what she has been feeling. Paola, who is a journalist friend of Mitch in Italy, informs him that she has contracted the virus and asks him to quarantine. They decide to quarantine together as they work on Mitch’s documentary.
Paola records an honest confession from Mitch that he later asks her to delete (She doesn’t). Alex flies to Italy to meet Mitch and asks him to release a statement that nothing happened between them. Maggie’s book was coming out, and Alex didn’t want it to tarnish her career. Mitch agrees, and the duo spend a pleasant time together. After Alex leaves, Mitch spends time with Paola, but as he is returning home, he drives off a cliff due to his dark and depressing thoughts. Even though he wanted to forget what happened, the constant allegations eventually caught up to his mental health.
Maggie has an interview with Bradley, where she is criticized by Bradley for portraying Alex in the wrong way. This turns out to be good for Alex, but things again become worse when Alex’s footage from Mitch’s memorial is leaked. Alex is later diagnosed with Covid-19, and the whole company is shut down. Chip convinces Cory to let Alex appear on air from her home as it would help others in letting go of their fear of the virus. The season ends with Alex Levy completing this task.
