The premise of the show
The show is based upon the main character named Humphrey Goodman who along with his fiancee, decided to leave the bustling city’s life as he is looking for a more quieter and peaceful life, which he finds in the town of Devon. Devon is originally the home to Martha, the fiancee of Goodman, along with whom he accompanies her to her folk’s place and decides to settle down there. Hoping to dissolve in the quiet and simple life of this sleepy and lousy town somewhere he imagines his dream life and happily ever after.

He settled in there with his fiancee’s family, whom he tries to impress and goes around trying to impress people as well and goes around to meet people. Many are confused about his presence in the town and many welcome him wholeheartedly. They see the people around the town and how they involve themselves in the activities around the town and what they do in their free time.
But this dream like all we see in our life doesn’t stay alive for long as he joins as the DI for the police expecting a slow work life there. He wonders what could possibly happen in such a silent and sleepy town, but that is where things take an unfortunate turn. After an unusual and very unexpected crime wave hits the city, that takes everyone by surprise. The town is engulfed with fear and everyone is scared.
Now, it all depends on Humphrey to make sure that the town once again goes back to its original safe and sleepy state and he makes it lives mission to make sure that the town is safe, and sets out to solve the series of crimes that seems to be happening in the town.
