Still Standing: Premise Of The Canadian TV Series
The premise of the show Still Standing is to tell the story of small towns in Canada and how they overcome struggles. Based on a Danish series, Still Standing is written by Jonny Harris, Fraser Young, Steve Dylan, and Graham Chittenden.
The show stars Jonny Harris and is directed by Sebastian Cluer. Jonny is a popular actor and comedian best known for his roles in the series Murdoch Mysteries and movies like Moving Day. After seven amazing seasons, Still Standing will be releasing its eighth season very soon. In each episode of this comedy/reality show, Jonny is seen traveling to small Canadian communities.
These communities are struggling financially, but they are “still standing.” Jonny spends time with these people, gets to know the residents and their lifestyles and at the end of his trip, performs a stand-up comedy show for them. But it’s not just a comedy show. In his performance, he also shares his newfound insights about life in the community he spent time with.
Still Standing: The Community & The Crew
Although it’s a show for and revolves around these communities, that’s not to say it’s an easy job. The community submits a proposal to the show’s producers, which is followed by the producer’s visit to the town. It’s done before the filming crew steps in. Once everything is finalized, the crew arrives and becomes familiar with the community.
Jonny admitted that he was worried about the residents and how they would react to the show and its subject. But, he has realized that the residents are rather chill and laid back and are only looking for a moment of laughter.
Still Standing Season 8 Episode 1: Which Town Is Next?
In the first episode of the upcoming season, Jonny will be going to Gibsons, a town in British Columbia, Canada. Other towns the crew will be making a stop in include Oneida Nation of the Thames; Morden, Manitoba; Lac La Biche, Alberta; Goderich, ON; Ucluelet, BC; Markdale, ON; Okanagan Falls, BC; Wabush, NL; and New Richmond, QC.
