Murdoch Mysteries is a thriller drama TV series based on the unconventional series ‘Detective Murdoch via “Maureen Jennings.” Where are the filming locations of Murdoch Mysteries set? It follows the inventive detective William Murdoch as he uses modern-day methods to investigate a variety of strange and ominous cases in Toronto. The first episode of the series aired in 1895. The show’s appeal is enhanced by a large number of settings and mysterious locations.

Its winning formula combines intriguing mysteries, one-of-a-kind slices of turn-of-the-century history, imaginative inventions, and personal moments for each of the four main characters. Executive producer Christina Jennings stated in 2016 that she would have preferred the series to keep the ‘Murdoch Mysteries’ moniker, but that the show is about “a person before his time, and it’s far the artwork of resolving time.” Murdoch Mysteries was nominated for a Series Ensemble Award by the Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television, and Radio Artists (ACTRA) in 2017 and won the Golden Screen Award for Best Television Program.

‘Murdoch Mysteries’ Filming Locations

The majority of the filming locations of ‘Murdoch Mysteries’ are set in Toronto, Canada. Murdoch also takes up cases in different parts of Canada, so the team films a few episodes in different parts of the country. Despite this, the majority of the filming takes place in the province of Ontario. Filming takes place both on set and on location, depending on the needs of the scenes.

The first seasons of the show were shot at Toronto Film Studios on East Avenue in Toronto. However, the power was shut down in 2008, and Season three was partly shot in a neighborhood near the Kipling Subway. The fourth season shifted to shots in and around various locations throughout the city. The show’s production has been entirely based in Toronto for all seasons. The city’s architecture, which is heavily influenced by Victorian and Gothic styles, became most likely a major factor in its selection as the primary filming location.

This acclaimed thriller series follows Detective William Murdoch from the late 1800s to the early 1900s as he investigates the city’s most heinous crimes and meets well-known figures of the time. Some episodes feature anachronistic technology, while Murdoch can improvise a rough prototype of the technology that could be more easily revealed to the 21st century. Murdoch, a methodical and daring detective with a knack for inventing new crime-solving technologies, is aided by lovely pathologist Dr. Julia Ogden, Constable George Crabtree, and his idiot boss, Thomas Blackenlead the Inspector.

Murdoch, a clinical development specialist as well as a religious Roman Catholic, solves mysteries using modern-day techniques such as fingerprinting, blood testing, and tracing the evidence, working closely with Dr. Julia Ogden (partner ep.804) and sidekick Constable Crabtree. Working beneath the skeptical Inspector Brackenreid, an old-school cop who respects his lead investigator’s findings but has little patience for his complicated methods, Murdoch frequently encounters a new-fangled era to pave the way for such 20th-century staples as radio, television, and, eventually, the digital mesh. At the same time, the spiritual problem in Murdoch’s worldview requires him to be a complete rationalist in solving the city’s most heinous murders.
