The scene cuts to Sunday when he is meeting Kaoruko, who he notices is spacing out a lot, and when he asks her about it, she says she just has a lot on her mind, like the number of stores she cannot decide to go into. They hang out as usual on their date together, and Rintaro just realizes how seeing Kaoruko happy made him feel better and thinks that things are all okay, perhaps, but then he sees her space out again, and it worries him.
