John Cena’s Peacemaker in HBO Max ran its first season in early 2022 with good traction and nice critics. The James Gunn production had an eight-episode stint chronicling the start of what it could be a very nice superhero serial. But is it renewed or canceled? We’re happy to tell you that HBO greenlit this production for a sophomore season. So, when is Peacemaker season 2 release date? Peacemaker tells the story of an antihero in an aftermath of a secret project with a mission to deal with aliens invading earth threatening to kill all mankind. While Peacemaker has a strong idea of how to kill the bad guys, he must also try to face his own personal defects, while doing it, he makes strong allies along the way in the first season of this show starring John Cena in the lead role. So, without any further ado, let’s take a look at what the show’s debut season was like.
Peacemaker Finale Recap
The episode finale begins with Peacemaker receiving an apology from Adebayo for hiding the diary at his residence. The group soon arrives close to the Cloverdale Ranch, where the alien cow that the Butterflies are keeping to make food for them is being kept by the Butterflies. Adebayo calls Amanda Waller to report the circumstance and ask for assistance. Harcourt, however, is adamant that they don’t have much time before the Butterflies teleport the Cow away. The team must therefore act quickly to devise a strategy to kill the Cow and foil the Butterflies’ scheme.
Adebayo suggests eradicating the Butterflies patrolling the ranch using Peacemaker’s sonic boom helmet. But when Peacemaker tries to use Eagly’s assistance to place the helmet strategically close to the barn, the bird drops it in the woods. Although the team successfully retrieves the helmet, Peacemaker is plagued by visions of his deceased father, August Smith. To enter the ranch and place the helmet, the team disguises John as an officer. John, however, panics when he sees the Cow and drops the helmet before running away. Adebayo uses the sonic boom helmet to blow up the ranch in order to create a distraction before John is apprehended.
Peacemaker At A Crossroads
Peacemaker, Vigilante and Harcourt make the decision to push through the adversaries and kill the Cow as the Butterflies flee. However, Peacemaker is buried under debris during the subsequent fight. Contrarily, Vigilante and Harcourt are hurt and lose consciousness. The remaining Butterflies are eliminated when Adebayo steps in. Before she can save Peacemaker, Detective Song intervenes and saves him while disclosing the aliens’ true strategy. Finally, Peacemaker is forced to make a choice that will determine the fate of humanity based on the newly learned information.

But at the last second, Peacemaker outsmarts the Queen Butterfly and dispatches the Cow with the aid of Adebayo’s human torpedo helmet. The Butterflies have no chance of surviving on Earth now that the Cow is dead, and they will soon vanish from existence.
Avoiding A Mess
Ultimately, Peacemaker averts disaster with the aid of his teammates. The hero also completes his quest for redemption by making the morally right decision only after carefully weighing its implications. The Justice League shows up to help as the team departs. They arrive too late, though, as our heroes already have everything under control. The incident serves as a symbol of the team’s accomplishment of the mission and their extraordinary bravery in doing so. At the end of the day, Peacemaker, Adebayo, Harcourt, John, and Vigilante demonstrate that they are among Earth’s top superheroes.
Is Peacemaker Free At The End Of Season One?
Peacemaker can now look to the future with confidence after the Butterflies’ threat was eliminated. As soon as Harcourt wakes up, she and Peacemaker share a touching moment that foreshadows the beginning of an actual bond between them. Adebayo tells the media the truth about the beginnings of Peacemaker’s diary in the closing moments. She accuses Amanda Waller, who led Task Force X, of using prisoners for covert operations. Adebayo thus foils Waller’s plan to implicate Peacemaker in Project Starfish. Peacemaker eventually makes it back to his trailer home, appearing to have earned his freedom.
In the final scene of the episode, the hero faces a new challenge. Peacemaker receives the Queen Butterfly back and feeds her the last of the yellow liquid. Peacemaker appears to be going to open a beer and watch the sunset with Eagly by his side. As Peacemaker sits outside his home, a physical representation of his father appears to him. The incident shows that Peacemaker’s father’s passing still bothers him.
In addition, the hero’s psyche has already been damaged by his father’s abuse. It will therefore be intriguing to see how Peacemaker handles his escalating psychological problems in the future. Due to his mental health issues, Peacemaker may end up putting his own or his teammates’ lives in danger on the battlefield. However, we won’t worry about those issues today. Peacemaker takes a much-needed break as the season finale comes to a close.
Peacemaker Season 2 Potential Plot Lines
In the first season of “Peacemaker,” Peacemaker/Christopher Smith collaborates on Project Butterfly with Harcourt, Economos, and Adebayo. The team works to prevent an alien race called the Butterflies from occupying Earth. The Cow, an alien who served as the Butterflies’ sole source of food, is eliminated by Peacemaker in the season finale. In the end, Peacemaker sees his deceased father, and Adebayo divulges ARGUS’s secrets to the media.
The second season might begin some time after season one and bring back Peacemaker, who has probably established himself as a hero. He and Vigilante might be battling neighborhood crimes as unsung heroes. The species might make a comeback, though, with the Queen Butterfly still alive and the Judomaster dedicated to the aliens’ cause. The team will be forced to reassemble due to new threats, save the world once more while jamming out to some hard rock music, and form new bonds along the way.

Cast
If the show gets renewed for a sophomore season, we will see John Cena playing Peacemaker again. With him, John Economos, Leota Adebayo Emilia Harcourt. Danielle Brooks, Jennifer Holland, and Steve Agee, will reprise their roles as well as the agents. Mercenary Clemson Murn, who is portrayed by Chukwudi Iwuji, is in charge of Project Butterfly’s team and answers to Amanda Waller.
White Dragon is played by Robert Patrick, and Vigilante is played by Freddie Stroma. In recurring roles are Christopher Heyerdahl as Captain Locke, Nhut Le as the Judomaster, Lochlyn Munro as Larry Fitzgibbon, and Annie Chang as Sophie Song. Eagly, Peacemaker’s pet eagle, is also voiced by Dee Bradley Baker.
Despite the tragic death of his character, it appears that August Smith will remain present in Peacemaker’s journey through flashbacks and visions. Iwuji, Munro, and Chang, on the other hand, are unlikely to return because their characters passed away in season 1. Several new actors will probably join the cast for season 2 as well.
Peacemaker Season 2 Release Date
Peacemaker was greenlit by HBO Max after its debut season, which ran from January to February 2022 with eight episodes of 45 minutes. The sophomore season was confirmed shortly after the season’s debut finale by showrunner James Gunn and will continue in his position. However, James Gunn has a lot of things on his hands with his other big project, that being Guardians of The Galaxy for Disney. However, if the man manages his time schedule adequately, we could expect Peacemaker’s sophomore season to be released in the first quarter of 2023.
