The Korean Fair Trade Commission specified that exclusive contracts between entertainment agencies and artists could last only a maximum duration of 7 years. Hence, girl groups that debuted after 2014 are classified as the third generation. So the girl groups that debuted from 2011 to 2012 are categorized as Generation 2.5!
