Previously on The Rookie Season 4, Nolan saw himself trying to save a woman named Riley who went through a car accident. Unfortunately, she didn’t survive. But she was going to save a life today as she had an organ donor card. Nolan decided to stick around for the process. This woman’s heart was going to a young girl named Piper, who had a rare blood type. The girl’s family had lost hope that they would ever find a match. But today was their lucky day, and they believed God was watching them.
Unfortunately, things went south when the computers of the hospital started malfunctioning. They began mixing up the reports of patients. This wasn’t a glitch. A man named Jonah came ahead wanting that heart for her wife Meredith as her name is on the bottom of the organ donor list, and she has only a few weeks to live. They tried talking to his wife so that she could convince him to stop, but even she wanted to live.

As Lopez’s team tried to calm things down and negotiate with Jonah, things took another level. A patient died amidst the chaos. In order to save the other patients, the hospital agreed to operate on Jonah’s wife and took her to surgery. On their way, the father of Piper came attacking Jonah’s wife with a fire extinguisher. Nolan managed to stop him.
Towards the end of the episode, the officers arranged a conversation between Piper and Meredith. The conversation convinced Jonah’s wife that the girl deserved to have it. She deserves to live a life, go to college, and fall in love. Jonah wasn’t ready to give up, but by then, hackers were taken down, and officers brought him in. Apart from this, during the hospital lockdown, Harper met an abducted child who turned out to be abducted. She alerted her team, who later managed to arrest the kidnappers.
