Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves continue to dominate Japan’s most-anticipated games chart, finishing well ahead of Grand Theft Auto 6 in the latest Famitsu reader poll. The ranking is based on votes collected between September 2 and September 8, 2026, offering a snapshot of what Japanese players are currently looking forward to most.
Pokémon Winds and Waves secured 569 votes to retain first place. Persona 6 followed with 477 votes, while The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time ranked third with 445. Persona 4 Revival and Final Fantasy VII Revelation completed the top five with 416 and 323 votes, respectively.
GTA 6, despite being one of the most anticipated games globally, placed sixth with 244 votes. That puts Rockstar Games’ upcoming title behind five games, highlighting a notable difference between Japanese player preferences and broader Western excitement.
Nintendo Switch 2 software occupies much of the upper section of the ranking. Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World, Final Fantasy Resonance, and Xenoblade Genesis also appear among the top 10.
Pokémon Winds and Waves are scheduled to launch on Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027. The games are expected to introduce the next mainline Pokémon generation, following Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
