The Gamescom Award 2026 nominations have been announced, with Mega Man: Dual Override and Rayman Legends Retold among the five games competing for the Best Nintendo Switch 2 Game award. The full shortlist also includes Capcom’s Mega Man: Dual Override, Nintendo Switch Sport Resort, and OPUS: Prism Peak from Sigono and Shueisha Games.
According to the official Gamescom announcement, the nominees were selected by an international jury from games being presented at the event, with the final winners determined through a combined vote involving the jury and the audience. Gamescom
Among the nominees, Denshattack! enters the competition following a strong launch on Nintendo Switch 2 and other platforms. The unusual arcade game puts players in control of a runaway train capable of performing tricks across a futuristic version of Japan. Meanwhile, Rayman Legends Retold brings one of Ubisoft’s best-known platforming franchises back with a major reimagining and is set to launch on October 1, 2026. Ubisoft
Denshattack! Brings Strong Momentum to Gamescom
Denshattack! has quickly become one of the notable indie successes of 2026. Fireshine Games recently confirmed that the game has sold more than 150,000 copies and reached over 300,000 players since its launch, with its availability on subscription services helping expand its audience.
Sarah Hoeksma, Chief Marketing Officer at Fireshine Games, said,
“The response to Denshattack! has been tremendous.”
She added that the game
“went above and beyond expectations this summer.”

The title is also competing in the Best Audio, Best Gameplay, and Most Entertaining categories, giving it a total of four Gamescom Award nominations.
Unlike Denshattack!, Rayman Legends Retold has not yet been released. However, Gamescom Award nominations are not restricted to games already available for purchase, allowing the upcoming Ubisoft title to compete in the Best Nintendo Switch 2 Game category.
Rayman Legends Retold will arrive on October 1 for Nintendo Switch 2, PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. The reimagining features new visuals, a new story, additional musical stages, and up to four-player couch co-op, while also including Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition. Ubisoft
