Tale Of The Nine-Tailed Season 1 Recap
The first season revolves around Lee Yeon, a male gumiho who is 1000 years old and was a former mountain guardian spirit of Baekdu-began. He has now moved on and resides in the city, working for Taluipa, an agent working on guiding people during the Afterlife.
He works on protecting the Samdo River and eradicating the supernatural beings that threaten the mortal world. Lee Yeon is assisted by Goo Shin-Joo, his loyal subject in the city, who works as a veterinarian and is a former gumiho.
Lee Yeon meets Nam Ji-ah, a smart producer at TVC station, on his way to eradicate the life of a gumiho who has eaten several lives and was marrying a man while pretending to be a human woman. Ji-ah suspects Lee Yeon of being a supernatural being after she connects the dots between the woman who disappeared from her wedding and Lee Yeon, as he is spotted in the camera.
To confirm her suspicion Ji-ah jumps off his flat, and Lee- Yeon saves her as she has a clip of him fighting his brother, another fox. As the series moves forward, a flashback is shown where a nine-year-old Ji-ah loses her parents in a car accident, but in her vivid memory, she remembers two foxes pretending to be her parents to eat Ji-ah’s heart, but Lee Yeon saved her.
Lee-Yeon uses a spell to make Ji-ah forget the scene, but it doesn’t work on her, and she remembers the events of the day her parents went missing, as their bodies were never discovered. Ji-ah believes her parents are alive and asks Le-yeon to help him in finding her parent’s whereabouts. It is also revealed Ji-ah is the reincarnation of Lee-Yeon’s first love Ah-um, who died trying to save Yeon from Imoogi.
Lee Yeon gives her his fox bead and makes her promise to come back for him. Yeon came across several women who resembled Ah-eum, but none of them had the fox bead he gave her. The series follows Yeon and Ji-ah falling in love while they are trying to find her parents. The series also revealed the backstory of Lee Rang and Yeon and how the brother who loved each other turned into enemies.
The series ends with Lee Rang trading his life to get Lee Yeon back into the human world. The second season will witness a new story with Ji-ah not being a part of it. It will follow Lee Yeo, who is pulled back in time while solving a case and struggles hard to return to the World where his loved ones are. He meets his brother before everything goes down between them, and Ryu-Hong Koo, who is a mountain deity attracted to Yeon.
Yeon rejected her as he loved Ah-eum, and now that she sees him again, Ryu is excited to have her chance with him. The series will also focus on Cheon Mu-young, who used to be Yeons’ friend and a mountain deity. A case became the reason for hostility between the two friends.
