A synopsis of the In/Spectre plot
The plot of In/Spectre is as follows. Kotoko Iwanaga is a young student studying at a university. At the tender age of 11, she was kidnapped by supernatural beings called the Yokai. The Yokai captured her because they wanted her to be their Goddess of Wisdom.
She agreed to their proposal but had to pay the price of losing an eye and a leg because of it. Ever since that fateful day, Kotoko has been fighting earnestly for peace between the Yokai and human realms.
Kuro Sakuragawa is another university student who had recently undergone a breakup with his girlfriend, Saki Yumihara. He is devastated, but one day, Kotoko visits him when he is in the hospital. Kotoko is in love with Kuro, and in her case, it was love at first sight when they met two years ago, and Kotoko saved his life from a mishap.
Kotoko explains to Kuro that she is, in fact, the Goddess of Wisdom, but Kuro harbors serious doubts on the matter. But soon, the two of them face a Yokai in a library, and both their true natures come out in the open.
Kuro realizes that Kotoko is telling the truth about her being the Goddess of Wisdom, and surprisingly, Kotoko finds out that Kuro is no ordinary human either. Kuro is immortal and has the ability to heal on the spot.
Kuro’s abilities are because he ate the meat of two Yokai when he was 11 years old. After revealing their abilities to each other, Kotoko asks Kuro to join her in keeping the peace between the two realms, to which Kuro agrees. Soon after, the duo comes across the mysterious case of a faceless woman who is killing people with massive steel beams.
Kuro and Kotoko embark on a journey to solve the mystery and defeat the evil entity, even though the case turns out to be quite a challenging one.

Main Characters in In/Spectre
Here are some of the main characters in In/Spectre:
Kotoko Iwanaga
Kotoko is one of the main protagonists of In/Spectre. She has dirty blonde hair and indigo eyes. She is Kuro Sakuragawa’s current girlfriend after his breakup with Saki Yumihara. Kotoko had to sacrifice an eye and a leg to become the Goddess of Wisdom.
Because of her youthful appearance, she is often mistaken as a child. Kotoko has an extroverted personality and can become childish at times when she is not given enough attention, especially by Kuro. But she lives up to her name as the Goddess of Wisdom, as she is extremely intelligent and cunning enough to trick Yokai.
Kuro Sakuragawa
Kuro is the male protagonist of In/Spectre. He has black hair and yellow eyes. Because he ate the meat of two Yokai when he was young, he has the abilities of immortality, super healing, and precognition. Contrary to Kotoko’s personality, Kuro is introverted and doesn’t care if he hurts himself as he has the ability to heal.
Rikka Sakuragawa
Rikka is one of the antagonists of the series. She is Kuro’s cousin. She also consumed Yokai meat when she was young, which was given to Kuro and her by their grandmother. Like Kuro, she also has black hair and yellow eyes.
She has the same abilities as Kuro, but she wants to be a normal human and tries many methods to bring this about. Rikka has a calm and collected demeanor, but she is, in reality, quite ruthless with a scary determination.
Saki Yumihara
Saki is Kuro’s ex girlfriend. She has black hair and lime-colored eyes. She has a mature personality but leaves Kuro when she senses that he is dangerous. Saki is also a main character in the first season of the series.
Steel Lady Nanase
She is an antagonist of the story. She was believed to be the ghost of Karin Nanase, a teen idol. She haunts Makurazaka town, wandering around with massive steel beams.
But, later in the series, she is revealed to be a creation of Rikka Sakuragawa and not the ghost of Karin. Rikka created her in the hope of becoming human again. Steel Lady Nanase is faceless, depicting the way Karin died, with her face smashed by steel beams.
Karin Nanase
Karin is a famous teen idol. She has purple hair and light crimson eyes. She has a kind nature and is considered to be an intelligent woman as she easily passed an exam at a prestigious university. Unfortunately, she died and was later on seen as a ghost, namely, Steel Lady Nanase.
