Dragons: The Nine Realms Season 2 Finale Recap
Tom and the other riders decide to spend the day exploring the hidden world shortly after the incident with the Spiderwings. Still, when they get to Thunder’s lair, he has vanished, leaving Tom devastated but determined to find his dragon. Eugene searches for information as he begins to think Jun is concealing something.
Following Thunder’s trail initially leads Tom, Jun, D’Angelo, and Alex to what appears to be a dead end, but Wu and Wei blow a hole in the wall, and the group finds a new dragon world. Tom notices a lightning strike in the distance and decides to follow it, but shortly after starting, the children are ambushed by a group of Spiderwings before flying through a swarm of Terrible Terrors. They move on after narrowly escaping and come across a water hole where they can rest and refuel. Nibbles and his dragons attack them, but Wu and Wei trap them on ice.
Cautious Approach
Although D’Angelo and Alex concur with Jun’s suggestion to turn back, Tom is still determined to find Thunder and reveals his secret to them. After failing to persuade them to continue, Tom departs on foot. After D’Angelo and Alex catch up with Tom and reconcile, the dragon riders resume their journey and encounter a tornado blocking their path. It is later discovered that a Razorwhip caused the tornado. Jun suspects the Razorwhip is guarding something as it attacks the riders. After the riders defeat the dragon and locate Thunder, Tom learns that Thunder is looking for his family after being separated from them. While observing a sizable hole in the wall, the children discover a scale from an unidentified dragon on the ground.
Thunder!
The dragon riders discover the real reason Thunder left and ventured into the cave after following the unidentified dragon’s footprints. Eugene makes an attempt to break into Jun’s laptop while continuing his investigation about her at ICARIS. As Tom, Jun, D’Angelo, and Alex emerge from the cave and enter a crystal maze, they come face to face with The Skrill, a fast asleep intimidating dragon, so the dragon riders and their dragons try to walk away quietly so as not to wake it, but Thunder, who is enraged, growls at it in spite of Tom’s pleadings that he should leave it alone.
The kids are split up when the Skrill awakens and uses its lightning to collapse the cavern, but they are able to reunite and fight the Skrill one last time. The plan is successful, and the group makes a collective commitment to finding Thunder’s family. Tom uses a piece of crystal as a lightning rod to drain Skrill’s power. Tom discovers a spearhead with the night fury symbol on it and realizes others have been there before as the kids watch as the Skrill vanishes into another dragon world.
