Robert “Bob” Belcher Jr., aka Bob Blencher, owns a fictional restaurant called Bob’s Burgers and runs it alongside his wife and three kids. He lacks management skills and luck, which does not make him financially stable. However, his cooking skills and experience helped him run the business somehow.
So, the series is about how the third-generation restaurateur, Bob, handles the troubles in running his dream business alongside his wife and the mischief done by his three annoying kids.
According to H. Jon Benjamin, the voice actor for Bob Blencher, Bob is connected more with Louise than his other two kids because she is the one to suggest solutions, no matter whether they are right or wrong when Bob lands in trouble.
Benjamin thinks Louise must have impressed Bob through her leadership skills. Meanwhile, Gene only turns out to be a disappointment sometimes.
Where Is Bob’s Burgers Located?
Bob’s Burgers is located on Ocean Avenue in Seymour’s Bay, New Jersey. Ocean Avenue also contains a pizzeria, a bank, stationery, and businesses run by Bob’s rivals, such as Jimmy Pesto. According to the showrunner, Loren Bouchard, many people think the restaurant is in San Francisco, but they are wrong.
Bouchard looked for an example before setting up the fictional restaurant and finally found it in Just For You Café in San Francisco, California. The local restaurant ran from 1980 to 2023 till the arrival of COVID-19. However, it is still present in the form of Bob Blencher’s fictional restaurant.
Bob’s Burgers has Victorian architecture from San Francisco but is in the North East. The voices of the characters represent the Eastern Coast. Bouchard grew up in the New England Area but did not want to include it in the case of Bob’s Burgers because another animated series, Family Guy, is set up in Rhode Island.
Bob’s Burgers is between Mr. Fischoeder’s rental estate and the crematorium. A fictional character will reach The Wonder Wharf Amusement Park if he walks down to the end of the street. The restaurant contains two floors and a basement.
The Blencher family lives on the second floor and runs the restaurant on the first floor. The basement is packed with a walk-in freezer and other stuff needed for the restaurant.
Bob’s Burgers is the pride of Bob Blencher. The Blenchers keep a simple menu that consists of soup, ice cream, beer, hamburger, salad, coffee, and fries, and do not compromise the quality.
All About Bob’s Burgers (The Restaurant)
The restaurant debuted in Bob’s Burgers Season 1 Episode 1 called ‘Human Flesh.’ Bob reopens the restaurant after closing and reopening it several times due to a series of disasters.
The episode is called so because a food inspector witnesses Gene serving food spilled on the ground, and Louise spreads rumors about human flesh served in her father’s restaurant.
Every character has a role in the restaurant. For instance, the three kids cannot go close to the fire. Thus, Gene dresses as a hamburger to promote the business. One from Linda and Louise works on the counter, and the other serves the customers. Tina appears only on the weekend to work the grill, and Bob looks after cooking.
Bob tries to handle the chaos created by the customers over the rumor, but the foolish Gene brings a corpse from the neighboring crematorium. Thus, Bob’s efforts get wasted, and people accuse him of supporting cannibalism.
Further, Louise apologizes for spreading the rumor. A bunch of customers interested in eating human flesh arrive at Bob’s Burgers, though there is no human flesh. Thus, Bob serves them hamburgers, each for $50, without eliminating their misunderstanding.
Bob’s Burgers has a new ‘Burger of the Day’ every day. Bob names the burger by combining the names of notable ingredients in the burger and the trends in pop culture. Sometimes, Louise changes the name of the ‘Burger of the Day’ on the board on her own.
According to H. Jon Benjamin, who voiced Bob Blencher, most burgers of the day are unappetizing. They are only for a pun. However, he knows viewers must have tried to cook them.
The restaurant, Bob’s Burgers, also appeared in Archer Season 4 Episode 1, where Sterling Archer arrived at the restaurant, married Linda, lived there for two months, and made burgers with long working hours.
