Recap of episode 5 of Call the Midwife Season 12
Nancy is responsible for taking care of Jill Mellor and her newborn child, Mylene, a baby that she had with Spencer Wray. Wray was a young bloke from the Windies. Their daughter was born out of wedlock. Spencer’s mom, Florence, is a nice woman who has provided the accommodation for Jill and Spencer.
Spencer’s attitude after their kid’s delivery took a turn and began to cause concern. His behavior has become more questionable. When Nancy informs Dr. Turner of Spencer’s condition, he immediately submits Spencer for an emergency psychiatric examination. However, as Spencer’s condition quickly worsens, they are worried as to what they should do next.
We also see Dr. Turner & Sister Veronica organizing a men’s health presentation at the clinic to address male contraceptives, and a novel operation called the vasectomy. Later in the episode, Dr. Turner and Sister Crane both begin to take steps to protect Annette Berkley. Annette has severe heart disease and defies her doctor’s advice by becoming pregnant again.
Another major twist in the show is the relationship between Matthew and his dad, Sir Brigham. Their relationship is, at best lukewarm when he travels to Poplar. Matthew’s impression of Poplar differs noticeably from his dad’s as he has grown fond of the neighborhood and its people over the past few years.

Will there be a season 13 of Call the midwife?
Yes, there will be another season whose focus will be on the year 1969. Heidi Thomas has suggested that the show could continue into the 1970s as well. The nuns’ order, upon which the show is said to be based, remained in the East End until the 1970s, so the thirteenth season will tell the story of the same period.
Heidi says, “I consider the more important thing that needs to be told is that of women’s lives, struggles, and working careers in that period.” The 13 seasons will be the most important and monumental in the series.
