Consequently, we are doing the Snowpiecer season 3 ending explained post to recap and break down the series. So, let’s begin unpacking a few things. Firstly, if you’re familiar with this series, you’ll know that Melanie tries very hard to convince Layton’s allies to turn against him. So, the engineer arranges for Alex and Ruth to expose Layton for the train passenger’s sake.
Melanie and Layton are preparing for a train-control war. Wilford’s forces seize control of the Night Car and revel in the chaos, including Bojan, who is revealed to be still alive, and Wilford’s new coldman. Melanie eventually strikes a deal with Wilford, but she, like Layton, is conflicted about her actions. Rather than allowing things to escalate further, Melanie and Layton strike a deal in which they exile, Wilford, together on the track scaler and then give the people the option of continuing life on Snowpiercer with Melanie or the chance of New Eden with Layton.
Snowpiercer Season 3 Recap: The Story So Far
Wilford is putting together an army to fight Layton and reclaim control of the Snowpiercer. Melanie approaches Ruth and tells her to join her, leaving the latter conflicted about the situation. Melanie and Layton meet to try to reach an agreement, but they cannot find a happy medium. Josie and Layton seek the Tail’s help in the upcoming battle to regain control of the Snowpiercer and continue their journey to New Eden.
Layton’s words inspire the Tailies, who arm themselves to fight for their messiah. Melanie meets with Wilford to join forces as Layton declares his readiness to fight. They invite Roche to join them in their fight against Layton. When Roche issues a request to Layton, he realizes he cannot bear any more bloodshed. He talks to Melanie and convinces her that any conflict between them will only benefit Wilford and help him reclaim control of the train. Using Zarah, Layton, and Melanie, they trick Wilford into leaving the Snowpiercer in the same small rail car Melanie managed to survive thanks to suspension drugs. Furthermore, he then accepts his fate and exits the train, realizing there is nothing he can do.
Layton and Melanie reach an agreement after eliminating Wilford as a threat. They then choose to split the Snowpiercer into two trains, one for Layton to lead to New Eden and one for Melanie to stay on the main rail track. They jointly ask the passengers to select a train for their future. Alex, Javi, Josie, Ruth, Roche, and other allies join Layton in his quest for New Eden, while Ben, Miss Audrey, Bess, and Miles remain on the main track with Melanie.
Snowpiercer Season 3 Ending Explained
Layton and his companions arrive in New Eden. Even after Melanie’s data on the Arabian warm spot is invalidated, Layton decides not to abandon the hope that drove him forward. When Melanie meets Layton, he demands a way to New Eden for the people who trusted him, his allies, and, most importantly, his daughter and the next generation. They choose to divide the train so that Layton can achieve his goal. Layton is excited to arrive in New Eden after being separated from Melanie and her group, only to be met with severe obstacles.
Melanie informed Layton and Alex that the railway track to New Eden ultimately could not withstand the train. When the train enters rougher terrain, the cars begin to shake, making Layton fearful of derailing before reaching the destination he has been anticipating for days. The train enters a bridge before he can calm down, causing severe alarm. Despite Javi and Alex’s efforts to keep the train on a track, the cars begin to derail slightly. They narrowly avoid disaster as the train successfully crosses the bridge. They arrive in New Eden just as the train stops due to the rough terrain.

Adequate Temperatures
Javi, Alex, and Layton read the region’s temperature after arriving in New Eden and discover that it is indeed warm. Humans step out of the train without a cold-resistant suit for the first time after the freeze and cherish sunlight and melted water. Despite the lack of trees and grass, as seen in Layton’s visions, New Eden is warm enough to indicate that life can exist in the region in due time. The warm spot is nothing more than a melting icescape devoid of life.
If New Eden’s temperature continues to rise, Layton and his followers may be able to reproduce life using the resources they have on the train. Because Mrs. Headwood is a member of the New Eden expedition, the scientist’s knowledge may aid Layton in his efforts to colonize the region. They may have to rely on the food and other supplies stored in the train cars until then.
