The chapter starts with Reiji and Chako going to Essemori’s house. Chako smiles and tells Reiji that they should run away together. Reiji was surprised to see that she wanted to go with him and not Essemori. However, Chako’s health wasn’t good, and she wasn’t able to walk properly.

Reiji couldn’t see her in that condition, so he asked Chako if she should call the detective. Chako holds him tightly and requests him not to leave her again. So Reiji carried Chako on his back to Essemori’s house. When he reaches his home, Reiji puts Chako on the bed.

Chako tells Reiji to sleep with her for a while. She asks Reiji if Essemori became his dad, and Reiji tells her no. So she asked about the girl Essemori was writing about. Reiji tells her that it was on his mother. Reiji then confesses his love to Chako and tells her that he always loved her.
