The Amazing Race Season 34 Episode 2: Recap
The first episode started with new rules, such as “The Scramble” that allowed players to complete the challenges in any order. This confused the teams as no one would know how many challenges the other teams have done.
In the previous seasons, sometimes no one would be eliminated, but that’s not going to be the case this season as there will not be any Non-elimination days this time.
The episode starts with the contestants familiarizing themselves with each other and communicating with the locals to find out the location of the challenges. All the teams quickly set off, except Aastha and Nina, who take a long time to figure things out.
The challenges in the episode were divided into three parts, “The Roll”, “Saw” and “Smash”. The Roll consisted of teams having to roll a beer peg from start to end and their partner would have to bring it back again, all in a matter of few minutes. Teams barely made it out but everyone completed it and moved on to the next challenge. The next one involved Sawing a log into slices. Some did it easily and some struggled.
The final challenge involved Smashing a Large Block of ice, and almost everyone did it eventually. Since Derek and Claire were the first ones to complete the first challenge, they had quite a bit of head start, which could have led to their victory in this Leg. They were awarded a cash prize of 5,000 Dollars.
The team that was eliminated in this episode was Aastha and Nina, as they were the last ones to reach the Pit Stop.
