Rough Diamonds revolves around an ultra-orthodox Jewish family Wolfson and their diamond business empire. The family has been the longest-running diamond business in Antwerp and has gained significant power in the area over the years. There is a lot of powerplay in the series where one has to prove their worth.
The episode will see the return of the estranged, rebellious son Noah Wolfson of the diamond merchant family as he loses his younger brother due to suicide for unknown reasons. Eli, the younger brother of Noah, lies buried in the ground and is held responsible for sending the family’s empire into crushing debt.
Eli liked to wager in shady business, and bad decisions almost destroyed the family’s hard-built empire. Noah is estranged from his family and returns after his brother dies to find the reason behind his death. He tries to save the family from going bankrupt by investigating how the company reached this point. Noah turned his back on the family due to different religious beliefs.
Anyone who belongs to an orthodox Jewish family knows the several restrictions that come with it and the hunger for freedom from these restrictions that come with it. Noah desperately tries to save his family’s legacy and honor. Noah gets entangled in the world of crime as he tries to salvage his family’s business. Noah also becomes the target of Smet, a police officer who makes Wolfson’s business her target.
Smet is prevented from finding the truth and the crime surrounding the industry by her higher-ups. Ultimately, it comes down to the rebellious son being responsible and trying to stop his family’s legacy from running into the ground.
