Scott Z. Burns’ Apple TV original, Extrapolations, will resume airing the rest of the episodes every week. With a timeline set in the future, the show revolves around a dystopic world where climate change has worsened significantly enough to affect the way people exist.
From flooded houses to rising temperatures, the series covers each climate change event by weaving it into the lives of the families we see in the episodes. Being ordered for around eight episodes, Extrapolations aims to bring to light the consequences that humanity will face if they continue to live the way they’re living currently.
All of the storylines are interconnected, but each episode features a family living in a specific year, such as 2037 and 2046, and the most recent episode year, 2047. The upcoming part of the show is set to depict a story from the year 2059. New celebrities are cast for each story, and these include actors like Kit Harington, Meryl Streep, David Schwimmer, and Daveed Diggs. Extrapolations have been airing since March 17th, 2023.
Extrapolations Episode 3: Recap
In the previous episodes, we see Rabbi Marshall Zucker arriving for a meeting at the Department of Sea Level Mitigation. Titled “2047,” the episode discusses the effects of rising sea levels and the way the general public has to adjust to it in their everyday life.
Rabbi Zucker hosts the event in a flooded Temple and talks about the current times, which involve humans defeating cancer, using solar energy extensively, being on Mars as well as maintaining a proper democracy without Texas being a part of it.
The concern at hand was that the water levels in Miami were frequently rising, which was endangering the homes of many that lived in and around the place. Zucker hoped that everyone would work towards protecting the Temple so that they could meet at the place a year later.
Harris meets up with Zucker and introduces himself as the son of David Goldblatt. Alana, Harris’ daughter, asks Zucker if he doesn’t believe in science, but before they can talk, Zucker is called to the meeting between David and the rest of the heads.
Zucker puts forward the issue of flooding in the sanctuary. Alana talks to Zucker about the way the apocalypse was nearing each day and if it could be because God was angry with them.
Seeing her dad choose someone else while her mom overdosed caused Alana to build up a grim mentality, which was made worse by the flooding. Alana asks Alpha the number of refugees that climate change would bring, to which he replies that it could be anywhere around 23 million. Zucker goes to see Dr. Shah to talk about his mother’s health.
All of Zucker’s mom’s friends were moving, and she wanted to do the same, but Zucker disagreed. Alana requests that Zucker shift the date of her Bat mitzvah. The department of sea level mitigations contacts him and informs him that they won’t be helping in the preservation of the Temple.
The day of Alana’s Bat mitzvah gets closer, and she sees another boy preparing for it as well. They talk about each other’s parts when Max informs them that he was given Noah and the covenant.
Pressurized by the lack of options, Zucker considers bribing a politician to save the Temple. David does the work for it behind the scenes, but what Zucker does not see coming is that saving the Temple comes at the cost of giving up the protection of a homeless shelter.

Extrapolations Episode 4: Spoilers
Titled “2059: Face of God”, the next episode will feature Edward Norton as Jonathan Chopin and Indira Varma as Gita Mishra. The story will revolve around Jonathan and Gita as Gita attempts to build a plane completely powered by solar energy, which would also not necessarily require a pilot to steer it around.
