With the series releasing every week on the channel, fans are curious to know how to watch Wild Isles. The series throws light on a nature documentary series where we witness the host as Sir David Attenborough. The show currently has 5 episodes in itself which focuses on the wildfires that have happened in the British Isles. BBC has commissioned the show for their channel along with some other producers. Amazingly, Wild Isles has taken a lot of work to be completed. It took over 3 years to finally complete and film the entire episodes of the show which spanned over 145 locations in the British Islands.
Recently, there had been some trouble with the 6th episode of the series. It has been thought that the last episode is not going to release in the media over the fear that maybe there is going to be a huge backlash from the Conservatives. Although, the news was later cleared up by BBC Productions where they revealed that Wild Isles was always meant to be a 5 part program.
As for the 6th episode, it is not airing because it was meant to be a standalone feature called Saving Our Isles which they had initially planned to release online for the fans to watch. Till now, we have had 2 episodes of the 5 which were promised to us. In these episodes, we witness Sir David Attenborough in the lead. He talks about the natural animals who have their habitat in the British Isles as well as in Ireland.
Wild Isles – Details
As for Sir David Attenborough, he is 97 years of age when this documentary series is airing on television. This has made him one of the oldest TV presenters who have ever worked. Along with the show, creators have also released a book based on this program, Wild Isles. This gives fans a beautiful insight into what the show is and for all the readers out there who love seeing pictures in their books, it’s a huge treat.
There have been some very amazing instances during the filming of this series. One was when Nick Gates, a junior researcher in this program was able to make out an adder just by his sense of smell. This led the whole team to film the snakes while they were in the open wild. They have obviously spent a lot of time in the open field in order to make the show the steaming success that it is right now on TV. They were out there, in the open, for about 1631 days which is a lot for any camera crew or production team.
As for Sir Attenborough, he is obviously old and walking and climbing in the wild seems like a tough task for his muscles. Despite that, he used to practice climbing stairs at home in order to be able to climb through the 87 steps that are presented before Skomer Island. He has visited the island twice to film the location and capture the raw beauty of the same.
