If you’re a fan of crime and murder documentaries, you’re going to love the series An Unexpected killer, brought to us by Oxygen, the home of Crime shows. This show was renewed for another season this year and will be airing its next perplexing episode soon.
An Unexpected Killer first premiered on December 5th, 2019. It aimed to explore cases that were much more complex than they looked. With no clues or leads, the detectives search their way to reality which no one would have guessed. The cases they study are often an example that things are not always as they seem.
The Third installment of the show was aired on March 4th, 2022. The creators took a break in between and started airing again in September. With Roger Craig Smith as the narrator, watching these creepy documentaries unfold is perfect for a chilly night.
An Unexpected Killer: A Homicide Documentary
What we see can be deceiving and that’s exactly what An Unexpected killer is about. A group of detectives, Journalists, and first responders that deal with the case talk about their experience solving it. Often, they come across a case whose story just doesn’t sit right. It’s only after nearing the end of the case do they find things falling into place.

The show first started in 2019 with the case of Robert and Kathryn Swartz who had been brutally killed by the son they had adopted. It was truly a sad and tragic case with Larry, the son, charged with second-degree murder. After the first episode was well received by the audience, the show was soon ordered to have around 8 episodes for the first season.
The second season began with another mysterious case of homicide and the show was ordered for about 20 episodes this time. Its spine-chilling murders and plot twists as the case proceeded led to the show being one of the hits in the crime genre.
An Unexpected Killer Season 3 Episode 14: Recap
The episode titled “Death on the Driveway” was aired on October 7th, 2022. The episode dealt with the case of Omar Hernandez, A worker at the Grocery Store.
Omar was heading for work and was shot by a mysterious person 15 times. Hearing the gunshots, his wife Gladys rushed to find that Omar was lying in a pool of blood in the driveway. The people nearby who also heard the gunshot called 9-1-1 and that’s where the investigation about the murderer had begun.
The Investigators first questioned his wife, who seemed to be inconsolable but provided the information that it could have been Saul. He was the husband of Rosalinda, who worked with Omar and both of them were rumored to be involved romantically. Since Saul had a good reason to come after Omar, all the detectives thought it would be him, but when they started questioning him, he didn’t seem like the killer at all.
Instead, he offered his DNA and house to be searched for evidence. Nothing of significance was seen. When they questioned Rosalinda, the supposed lover, she seemed nervous but admitted they were just friends. The investigators would later find the mobile chat history, which suggested that Rosalinda and Omar were involved romantically, and both Saul and Gladys knew about it.
This was suspicious, but the only reason behind it was to protect his honor. The focus then shifted to the Salvadorian brothers, who had a bad reputation for being involved with gangs. When sufficient evidence wasn’t obtained, the case became stagnant. Fast forward a few years, and one of the grocery workers, Francisco Ramirez Garcia, comes forward with proof of who the killer is.
He informs the police about Josue (One of the Salvadorian brothers), who worked there as well. Josue was known to possess an AK-47 and had bad blood with Omar. He didn’t like the way Omar told him to do his work and let his frustration out by shooting him multiple times. He was then charged guilty and sent to jail for his life.
An Unexpected Killer Season 3 Episode 15: Release Date
The Episode Titled “A Family Affair” will be aired on October 14th, 2022. New episodes of An Unexpected Killer are released every Friday, with each having a runtime of 1 hour.

In the next episode, that’ll be released this Friday, we will be seeing the case of a vet clinic that was the target of shooting but was seemingly normal and was operated by a family. As the investigators solve the puzzle, they come across many suspects, but the killer turns out to be someone that was off the radar.
