Shameless is a series that follows the plot of a dysfunctional family of seven, with Frank Gallagher as the father with his six children Fiona, Phillip, Ian, Debbie, Carl, and Liam. The father is not an ideal father as he is an alcoholic and spends his time being drunk and out of his mind most of the time. It is up to the children to take care of themselves and their siblings.
The premise seems interesting in one go, and the characters are all likable, with each having a separate personality of their own. Many fans were drawn in by the interesting plotline of comedy in such a tragic setting. Over the years, they have grown to love all the characters as their own. Even though all six children are highly favored by the community, we are going to talk about someone else other than them today.
Who Is Mickey?
Mickey is a nickname for Mikhailo Aleksandr Milkovich, and he is known to be one of the most aggressive neighborhood thugs. He is the older brother of Mandy Milkovich and the son of Terry and Laura Milkovich. He was introduced to the audience as a thug who terrorized Ian, one of the six siblings who form the main plot of the drama. This was due to the fact that Mandy accused Ian of assaulting her.
Mickey and Ian start to develop a relationship later in the show as we find the trope of enemies to lovers coming into play. Mickey is revealed to be a closeted gay individual who has not come out to anyone yet, except maybe Ian. Their story of them has been masterfully handled, and fans were happy to see such a turn of events. Mickey does officially come out later in public, but that takes a few seasons to happen.

When Does Mickey Come Out?
Mickey’s coming out has been anticipated by some fans for some time. He was having a sexual relationship with Ian during seasons 1 and 2 of the series and ended up having feelings for him. His coming out of the closet was a point in the plot that was highly awaited by the viewers. This ultimately happens in the fourth season of the series which aired on January 12, 2014. the show has gained momentum with its previous seasons, and fans were completely invested in the story that follows.
The season started in a gloomier tone, with most of the major characters facing some sort of trouble with their personal life. We find that Mickey is not much different from the others as he has a strained relationship with his pregnant wife, Svetlana, and finds himself in despair over the disappearance of Ian. In the meantime, Ian is seen to be working at a sketchy gay bar instead of being in the army.
To add fire to the fuel, Svetlana realizes that her husband is more interested in Ian than in her and ends up extorting money from Mickey. The tension of his closeted identity and his feelings towards Ian causes Mickey to publicly come out during an after-party for his presumed son’s christening, which was Season 4, Episode 11. Although many would argue that he chose the worst possible time to come out, it was required for the dramatic effect to be intensified.
As a result of this revelation, Terry tries to attack Mickey, and the other members present seem pretty chill about the news and accept his sexuality.
