Without any explanation, Activision Blizzard shut down the Call of Duty Black Ops 4 servers in the United Arab Emirates and Singapore. There are no official reports about it and the company is very tight-lipped about it. An analysis of the traffic and the reports of the users on the internet from Singapore and the United Arab Emirates are overwhelming. Why did Activision Blizzard come up with this decision?
While there’s no official information, and there are no reports about it, it’s all open to speculation. Is it some glitch or bug? Was it a hack? Why is Activision Blizzard keeping a lid on this? Singapore and the UAE servers are very crucial for South Asia & Middle East players.
Countries like India, Philippines, Singapore, Myanmar, Pakistan, China, UAE, Malaysia, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia and Thailand are heavily reliant on servers in UAE & Singapore to get 80 to 100ms ping.
Activision’s shutting down of Singapore & UAE servers has made quite a fuss in the South Asian & Middle Eastern Black Ops 4 playerbase as for hours they have been unable to find the lobby and if they do find the lobby, they are connecting to German or Japanese servers with over 300 to 400 ms ping, they have termed the game as unplayable and unfair to South Asian & Middle Eastern players.
Activision Blizzard Shuts Down Call of Duty Black Ops 4 Server In UAE & Singapore
Reports by PlayStation & Xbox users early in the morning of July 7, 2022 show that Activision Blizzard shut down the Call of Duty Black Ops 4 server in the United Arab Emirates and Singapore without any notice. Our team went on to check the servers and indeed they were offline, as you can see in the yellow box, the servers are no longer visible. There’s no official information on their social media profiles, websites nor any Activision employee has come forward on their social media handles to talk about what is going on. If you reside in the following countries, “India, Philippines, Singapore, Myanmar, Pakistan, China, UAE, Malaysia, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia and Thailand”, you simply cannot access the local servers to play multiplayer and you have no explanation on behalf of the developers.
We reached out to Activision Support with the query, “Why are the servers not available for UAE & Singapore, and we have unable to find any match making lobbies?”, Activision Support responded, “I appreciate the explanation you have provided. Please be informed that you will be connected to the server where you have the best connection based on your current region.” We replied that “The servers in these locations are not available and players are unable to find the lobby for hours, what are the players supposed to do that?” To which Activision responded, “I understand and we apologize for the inconvenience. We recommend submitting feedback through this form.”
The replies from Activision Support were quite disappointing with no effort. As of July 7, 2022, Activision is still selling the said Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 in the countries where they do have any servers close to them, For example, the closesest server for Indian Call of Duty players would be Japan, Germany or Australia with 260 to 350ms ping. Previously it was Singapore or UAE servers, which provided 80 to 100ms ping,
It is worth noting that Call of Duty Black Ops 4 does not have campaign mode, as of now the game is totally useless for the countries we mentioned in this post.
