What if you finally have the opportunity to escape and recruit a fellow expert thief to assist you in a job that is unique from all your previous ones and can end your life?

Produced by Guillaume Colboc and Sidonie Dumas, the film stars Adele Exarchopoulos playing the role of Alex, the film’s protagonist and Carole’s best friend who works as a thief along with her, Melanie Laurent playing the role of Carole, the film’s second lead protagonist and Alex’s best friend.
Manon Bresch plays the role of Sam, the thief the two best friends recruited to work on a mission. Isabelle Adjani plays the role of Marraine, Alex and Carole’s recruiter, and Felix Moati plays Clarence’s role.
Philippe Katerine plays the role of Abner in the lead. The supporting cast of “Wingwomen” stars Ismael Sy Savane, Alphonse Bourbeilon, Foued Nabba, Meriem Serbah, Myriam Azencot, Damien Zanoly, Theo Kailer, Oliver Kissita, and Jean-Philippe Ricci.
Released on November 1, 2023, the action-comedy film managed to gather attention from the viewers with very obvious French humor, with some kick-ass action scenes with the lead in dangerous situations.
Some viewers felt the movie felt more about the sisterhood between the lead actress than about the money heists that the two leads pull through every time they were sent on a new mission. The ending of the movie left several viewers teary-eyed who don’t love to have someone who is always there for you and never leaves your side even when things go awry. That is what Carole and Alex had between them.
Wingwomen – Ending Explained: Did The Two Best Friends Make It Out Alive?
The film starts right in the middle of an action between the two protagonists, Alex and Carole, as the two are on a dangerous mission in Switzerland when Alex receives a call from the guy she was casually dating who dumps her on call before she starts to refocus on her mission with Carole.
The mission the two friends were involved in required the two to steal La Grande Odalisque, a famous painting that was supposed to be put in an exhibition. Well, the two successfully complete the mission before stopping for a breakfast kept by Carole in hiding while Alex opens up about her desire to lead a normal life with a boyfriend.
The two friends continue to discuss their future, which involves the two living a peaceful life with their family before the two return to the ground by paragliding as the two continue to discuss their lunch before Carole gets to know about being pregnant.
The two friends go on a grocery shopping spree before Carole goes to finish their deal while being on a secret call with Alex, but things turn problematic for Carole after the people she is dealing with refuse to pay her and ends up leaving after threatening to end their lives.
Carole continues to share her plans to discontinue working as a thief before the two start to plan their future endeavor as neither of them has any other skill than being a brilliant thief but to leave the gang, and they need the permission of their godmother, who isn’t ready to let her best recruits go.
The following night, Carole and Alex meet with Isabelle in an abandoned movie theatre, where they talk about their disapproval of the situation Isabelle put them in before sharing their plans of quitting the job, which leaves the godmother in denial and enraged before Isabelle orders Alex to leave the theatre to talk with Carole.
After Alex leaves the theatre, Isabelle threatens Carole, informing her that if they try to escape, they will end up dead before offering more money to her for them to continue, and Carole agrees to another mission as she has no other option.
Alex and Carole go on a hike the following day to calm their minds. They find a hiding place to avoid being contacted by the godmother, but the two end up rather tired before arriving at their destination and relaxing.
The two continue to live peacefully before they get attacked by masked men, which ends with Alex losing her beloved bunny after it gets shot in the ongoing altercation before Carole figures out that the men who attacked them were sent by Isabelle to stop them from leaving the gang. Isabelle informed Carole that she wouldn’t be able to leave and that she would pay her whatever she wanted for the next mission, to which Carole replied that she would do the next mission for $2M after being blackmailed by Isabelle.
The following day, Carole and Alex go over to meet a guy who has the information about the next mission that involves the two stealing the painting, but as it turns out, there isn’t much information available about the painting, and the guy informs them about them having to recruit another member.
Carole is excited to recruit a new driver and member for the team as she is tired of Alex’s reckless driving before the mysterious guy informs the girls that the third person on their team will be Sam, a racetrack driver.
Carole is immediately excited to love Sam before the pair informs Sam about their next mission to recruit her, but things seem rocky between Alex and Sam due to them having polar opposite personalities. The three embark on their new mission, and Sam starts to get along with Alex fairly well before the trio goes to find Clarence to get the weapons required for their next mission.
After several setbacks, the trio starts to get along well and complete their mission of stealing the painting from Corsica before returning to Paris to deliver the stolen painting to the client alongside the godmother.
Does Carole Die, Or Is She Alive?
After Carole and Alex complete their mission, Carole faces the godmother and informs her about her resignation, but she refuses to accept it and threatens Carole about ending Alex’s life if she insists on retiring from the gang, leaving Carole with no other choice than to fight, with the godmother.
Carole signs toward Alex to kill Marraine, the godmother, and within seconds, the godmother drops dead on the ground after being shot by Alex. Instantly, after the godmother falls to the ground, a bunch of trained men enter the building to end Carole’s life, and as everyone guessed, Carole gets killed while Alex watches from afar, having no other choice.
A shocked Sam leaves the group as the two are free now and escape to live in hiding before Sam finds Alex living in an isolated country house while growing tomatoes and requests her to accompany her for a last mission.
Alex refuses to accompany her as she hasn’t touched guns since she lost Carole, but fortunately for her, the final mission doesn’t require them to use guns, so she agrees, and the two ride horses in the desert looking like the land where they find a blonde child playing with a toy gun in a small house.
The film ends with the revelation about Carole being alive and the child being her daughter before promising to inform her friends to reveal the plan that helped her escape after the altercation following the godmother’s death.
