Basketball has been a loved and high-intensity sport for decades now, seeing a rise in fan following each year. One thing that makes the whole game experience more enthralling is their connection with the player, whether be it emotionally, for their skills, their wins, and at times even their failures. People are inspired by their favorite players all the time and look up to them as their role models.
But to make those players in the exceptional shape that they play in, they all need someone to mentor them and guide them. Similarly, for the basketball team Florida Gators, Mike White was such a mentor who ensured the great performance of the team. Florida Gators is the representative of the University of Florida, which plays in the American College Football, which is a highly cheered league in itself.
The team has played in about 48 NCAA-approved bowl games and claimed national titles three times in the years 1996, 2006, and 2008. The team played its first season in 1906 and has been in the field for more than a century now. Georgia, Tennessee, Miami, and Alabama are some of the rivals, to name a few. The team has been known to play fiercely on the field with extreme power and zeal.

Who is Mike White?
Mike White was born on March 2nd, 1977, and was the head coach of Florida Gators from 2015 to 2022 before leaving the team and position. White himself was a great player and played basketball in his collegiate career. He played as a freshman guard for the University of Mississippi, which is known as Ole Miss Rebel’s Men’s Basketball Team.
He played during the year 1995-1999. During the eighth game of his freshman year, he was shifted to the position of a starter, and for the next four years, he played as a starter only. He is known for his 370 assists during his college career, which is credited to be the 6th highest ever in Ole Miss’s history of the basketball team. His enthusiasm on the court was exceptional, and his focus on the game was appreciated.
He played basketball ahead and more professionally for New Mexico Slam in a short-lived and now-forgotten International Basketball League. He was also a member f the team when Ole Miss won their first victory in the NCAA Tournament. This focus and passion for the game later pushed him to pursue a full-fledged career in College Basketball as he became an assistant coach for Jacksonville State from the year 2000 to 2003.
He then later on, returned to his Alma Mater, Ole Miss as an assistant coach and stayed there for seven seasons from the year 2005 until 2011. During this time rose in terms of his position as an assistant coach and became known for his masterful guidance and coaching.
After leaving Ole Miss, he was announced as the head coach of Louisiana Tech in March 2011, and he coached the team skillfully till 2015. During this period, LTU rose in terms of their winning and victory chances and percentages, and even White became the coach with the highest percentage of winning chances.
Later on May 7, 2015, White announced that he had joined Florida Gators as a head coach replacing the 19-year-old long coaching legacy of Billy Donovan. He was signed in for a six-year deal and was offered a whopping $12 Million. During my coaching career here, the team reached greater heights as they almost reached the finals of the NCAA Tournament.

Why Did Mike White Leave Florida Gators?
Mark White announced on March 13, 2022, that he should no longer be the head coach of Florida Gators after the exhaustion of his six-year-long contact with the team. White also announced that he should be joining the Team of University of Georgia as the head coach, which is also one of the rivalries of Florida.
Many of the insiders claim that this was due to the tension that he faced while coaching at the time. They knew that the Gators were not going to win this season, either. He was continuously being compared to their former long-time coach Billy Donovan, and that led to a rise of pressure within the team and the coach.
Many states that Mike took this decision for the sake of his children as he wished to protect them from any sort of negativity that may come along with it, and upon seeing the opening for Georgia, he took the best way out. Georgia has been seen to be lucked out since they only won six matches that season and hasn’t been able to be a part of the NCAA Tournament since 2015. Mark, on the other side, has a history of being able to enter the NCAA Tournament.
