Reason Behind Chad Michael Murray Leaving Gilmore Girls Revealed
No doubt, Chad Michael Murray enjoyed playing Tristan Dugray in Gilmore Girls. But, at that time, he had other big roles to play, because of which he left the show. That’s the main reason. The actor has always been very vocal about his switch and never hesitated. His departure was less dramatic and very much understandable.
At that time, Chad Michael Murray got the opportunity to act on the projects – Dawson’s Creek and One Tree Hill. It was made right after shooting for Season 1. It was getting difficult for him to deal with so many acts, and he ended up having less time to play in Gilmore Girls. Because of this, the creators of the show felt like writing off his character, Tristan.
Guess what? In 2016, when the four-part revival of Gilmore Girls came out, fans were expecting Chad Michael Murray to make his return. No, he didn’t. Tristan had to return as Rory Gilmore and Paris Geller ran into their former crush when they visited their high school. But, in the revival, the actor Anton Narinskiy portrayed Tristan’s character.
Well, Chad Michael Murray was offered, but he denied it. When asked, he shared that his pals were again back on the show. He ended up on a positive note saying he wished to get back for the revival, but life was good. On this note, Chad said, “I wish I could have been there, but it’s all good- life is good. All my buddies got to go back.”
The major reason why Chad Michael Murray left Gilmore Girls was that he wanted to explore more in the acting industry. He was young back then and wanted to know if Chad was an actor. He said, “I was so young. I needed to find out who Chad was. Who was Chad as an actor?” If he didn’t make his move as Tristan and stayed, then we might have ended up seeing him with Rory, pursuing a relationship.
But, the actor didn’t regret his decision to step down from Gilmore Girls. Chad said, “I genuinely wouldn’t be the man I was today without making that decision”. When he again got the chance to appear on the revival of the show, he wanted to know more about himself. That was the reason why he didn’t accept the proposal.
